Title: Napolitano: These sequester cuts will make it tougher to secure the border
Post by: pissant on February 27, 2013, 12:54:58 AM
And there it is: The ultimate panic-inducing cherry on top of the sequester-scaremongering sundae. Apart from the devastating, eviscerating, meat-cleaving threats of flight delays, park closures, and whooping cough, the existential threat that is the dreaded sequesteration is going to make it much more difficult for the Department of Homeland Security to perform one of its primary functions: Thwarting terrorism. Via WaPo:

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano warned Monday that her agency would be forced to furlough 5,000 border control agents under mandatory spending cuts, likely allowing more illegal immigrants into the country and potentially compromising national security.

Those f'ers would have to start enforcing the damn borders before a sequestration would make it tougher to secure the border.

Hi,

Cut the BS lady.  The primary reason the borders are not secure today is the democrats don't want them secure.  Where the hell would they get the next generation of democrats if they closed them down?

God this stuff pisses me off.

The left wants open borders anyway.
They are only using sequestration as an excuse to do it and then they get to blame the Republicans for it.

It's not like she's putting a whole lot into it now, the thing keeping the illegals out isn't our incredibly alert border enforcement, it;s the shitty Obama economy.

I had no idea so little money bought so much government.  If this miniscule 2% decrease in the amount of an increase is going to touch every aspect of the federal government, what the hell are they doing with the other 98% not cut from the increase?

Maybe it is time for all taxes to go to the fifty state comptrollers who can then send Washington, D.C. what they think it needs.  It is a new day.  We need to seriously fix the way money flows away and then back (maybe) to where it needs to be.
