What's for Dinner ~ Sunday Feb 24th

You know, dear sweet old Lu is just as bad as the big guy, Omaha Steve.

She makes one comment, and never elaborates, in this case such as telling the other primitives what she's having for supper.

1. Probably Greek Chicken, pilafi, wax beans and a salad.

But that could change. It's early yet.

2. Honey-glazed chicken

Chicken pieces dredged in flour and browned in butter, baked with a honey-soy-lemon-garlic glaze. Made once before, yum! Baked potatoes and broccoli.

My regular grocery store no longer sells cut-up whole chickens, only packs of drumsticks, thighs, etc. Thankfully the other store I go to once in a while still sells them and it was on sale.

^^^a woman primitive; "Freddie"'s the name of her pet cat.

What a stupid name for a cat.

3. I hate to admit it, but I'm having store bought frozen lasagna. I've been a little under the weather lately. I don't feel like cooking and I'm craving lasagna. I just happened to have one in the freezer.

<<<still laid low by mononucleosis, and so for supper tonight, went to town and picked up a $1.59 slice of Canadian bacon pizza at the convenience store.

We shall see.

8. It's starting to calm down some, but it was crazy for awhile.

So bad, I felt seasick.

9. I am sure that you know this...

but watch the horizon! First time I crossed the Channel, it was rough and most everyone was seasick. It was awful! Me, I had to quit drinking beer because the bathrooms were not usable.

10. I always stay topside and watch the horizon when we are under way.

Today, however, we are tied up and I just retreated back under the covers and stayed in a twilight zone.

The big mistake I made was getting on the computer for awhile.

5. Beans and tortillas with cheese and toasted Guajillo chile dressing on frisee endive. No meat, which I love, but which I'm sick of. So grateful for beans!

7. Steak, mushrooms and a baked potato.

Cooked for a retreat group this weekend and we have leftover shrimp, avocado & ponzu salad.

15. leftover v****e soup

there's still a half loaf of bread and peach crisp for dessert.

Uh oh.

It looks like the pie-and-jam primitive eluded her babysitters again.

She knows she's not supposed to be on the internet, as her children and grandchildren think she makes herself--and them--look bad.

16. chicken legs baked on top of mushroom-y rice along with a fresh spinach salad with dried cranberries and toasted walnut.

Also some lovely date nut bread that I scored at a baby shower this afternoon -- my grandmother's recipe.

Why can't these loons ever eat anything normal? Maybe that's what makes them so darn crazy.

Whole chickens are cheaper and take less than five min. to cut one into pieces.

They can't be trusted with sharp objects.

These are the vicious old crones in the Cooking Group.

The purpose of these lies is just to one-up all the other hateful old biddies.

And for the one DUmpette who admitted frozen lasagna, the Stouffer's frozen lasagna is great - nearly as good as Olive Garden.

I had hotdogs and a bowl of cheerios. I didn't eat them together.

Not great but easy and quick.

I had a bagel at 6 AM, then a frozen meal at 6 PM. It was one of those steam in a bag things, not bad. Garlic chicken something or another. I just topped it off with a granola bar. I have had a sinus infection mixed with seasonal allergies. It's been windy here for the past couple days and we had some rain. I found it best to stay inside.

I did not have time to Nadin any exotic dishes to impress my friends here.

Hey DUmmies am I able to get disability for sneezing?

I had dinner about 8pm last night. Missed lunch because I was dealing with a 5 day old that was kicking his heroin addiction. "Mom" (from the way she looked and acted a possible DU member) showed up for about 20 minutes high as a kite for the first time in 2 days to see him and it took me close to an hour to calm him down again. Damned junkie was mad at me because she wanted to nurse him and I said no.

This is why I hate working peds.

Scoobie makes these HUUUUGGGGEEEEE pans of awesome lasagna.  I'd never insult her by buying frozen stuff, although for frozen, Stouffer's does a pretty decent job.

I had a double cheeseburger with fries and a personal pizza at the Daytona International Speedway, washed it all down with a Diet Mtn. Dew.

Then watched Dale Jr. finish 2nd!   :yahoo:

Never mind dinner.  What I had on both Saturday and Sunday was my favorite breakfast.  4 slices of bacon, a mushroom and cheese omelet, buttered toast, blueberry juice.

Ponzu salad:  What the hell is that?  Ponzu is a citris-based Japanese sauce.  Here is one offering:

Good Lord.

Homemade lasagna is way too much work when something as good as Stouffer's just takes 80 minutes in the oven after zero prep time.

My wife and I did exactly that yesterday.  Leftovers tonight. :)
