Title: Gibbs: I was told not to acknowledge existence of drone program
Post by: beefeater on February 24, 2013, 02:57:06 PM
I've been waiting to see if this would get any attention. I was even going to have one of the moles post it but a couple of them are being watched by MIRT for being a little to critical of the Messiah lately.

Gibbs: I was told not to acknowledge existence of drone program as Obama press secretary

Robert Gibbs, President Barack Obama's former press secretary, says that he was once instructed by the White House not to acknowledge the administration's use of drones.

"When I went through the process of becoming press secretary, one of the first things they told me was, you're not even to acknowledge the drone program," Gibbs said on MSNBC's "Up With Chris Hayes" on Sunday. "You're not even to discuss that it exists."

Little tiny campfire so far, I'll send in the moles to stir up the embers later.

Hey, lurkers--this sounds like something that you said that President Bush would do.

The Obamessiah's doing it.

What's that about "the most transparent administration in history" again?

11. It was his job

It is the job of every press secretary. They are morally challenged people or they wouldn't take the job.

As usual they excuse this behavior on their side, yet accuse our side of doing just that and blasting our side for it.

9. Letting the people in a democracy know what their public servants do is scary for politicians.

Based on such knowledge the public might just vote them out.

Once again it's okay for the dems, but those damn repukes better not do this.

10. The character of CJ Craig exemplified this well

The Press Secretary needs to be able to lie, baldfaced, and then sleep at night, what little night is given. It's not a job for the morally firm. I could never do the job and I don't trust anyone who could, and that includes people from either side of the aisle. I feel a great deal of gratitude and even grudging respect for those who choose to speak up after their tenure. Scotty McClellen and now, Robert Gibbs.

19. I saw that this morning.

Not an easy job, if you have to be disingenuous to begin with. No wonder press secretaries burn out.

Another DUmmy saying it's okay for his side to do this.

It was no secret, I knew about them years ago. Several companies had designed drones, then called UAVs. (Unmanned aerial vehicles).  TRW/Northrup won a government contract for their version called the "hunter".

I like Dana Perino.  She's conservative and has a great sense of of humor.

One of the reasons the suffering and death of DUmmies is so enjoyable is the memory of how they celebrated Tony Snow's terminal illness.

I hope that as the suffering of the current crop of dying DUmmies increases, they'll keep us posted.

I will never forgive them for that.  It brought into utter clarity just what kind of creatures they are.

...

He just sold the President down the river?...

ahem!

Quote
Sold down the river

Meaning

Betrayed or cheated.

Origin

This phrase originated in the Mississippi region of the USA during slave trading days. Slaves who caused trouble were sold from the northern slave states into the much harsher conditions on plantations in the lower Mississippi.

The earliest reference I can find to the phrase in print is in The Ohio Repository, May 1837:

Quote
"One man, in Franklin County has lately realized thirty thousand dollars, in a speculation on slaves, which ho bought in Virginia, and sold down the river."

The figurative use of the phrase, meaning simply to deceive or cheat, began in the early 20th century; for example, this piece from P. G. Wodehouse's Small Bachelor, 1927:

Quote
"When Sigsbee Waddington married for the second time, he to all intents and purposes sold himself down the river."

You know, blacks are always wanting to be paid reparations for those years their ancestors spent in slavery.....why don't we pay the decedents of the former slave owners for their stolen slave property and send all the blacks back to Africa....everyone will be happy then...right?....right? ...right?
