Honestly why can't the average American catch a break...
I know a lot of people are probably far worse than my wife and I and I only bring my problems to light because I can only talk about my situation.
My wife and I recently moved to a new apartment. We ended up deep in the whole after the move because the gas line didn't get put in on time so our electric bill was like $200 and we ended up spending money on hotel rooms because around Western PA the end of Dec/First Part of Jan was like the coldest it has been in a couple of years.
Our rent is about $150 more than we have had to pay the last 10 years (and that was the lowest rent we could find.) I do make $10.53 an hour and do work 40 hours a week. Now granted I probably should move closer to my work place but where my wife and I are living was good for us on rent and my wife has family obligations that require her to stay close to this town.
So I personally am making a pay check of around $800 BUT by the time taxes and my insurance (and my insurance ONLY covers me.) and with the insurance going up I'm now netting $400 a pay!
My wife is now working with physically challenged individuals and thought she had gotten a full time job has been pulled away from her. The woman didn't like the fact that my wife was doing what she told the company she wanted done in her home (cleaning it and organizing it.) My wife respects people she works for to go into details but she did indicate that the woman's home was in GREAT need of organizing. So my wife is working and finds a shaw the woman wanted two days earlier. She brings the shaw to the woman who suddenly flips out saying she doesn't want my wife going through her stuff and kicks her out than tells my wife's supervisor that she was trying to steal the shaw.
My wife is livid because her reputation is all she has in this type of field. She is back to On call meaning she is lucky if she gets any hours a week.
NOW here is where the break should come.
Because we are married WE can't get help. Say my wife is lucky to get 20 hours a week for example. She right now is at $8.85 and even though they started people at that company at $9 and rumor is that clients are now picking pay rates and can go as high as $11 she is currently stuck at $8.85.
We make TOO much for any assistance. YET if my wife and I just lived together and had NO marriage certificate we could probably get assistance --At least she could.
My wife would love to have children and she wants to think about adopting but we are too freaking poor to even be considered.
I don't know HOW a family of 4 with both parents working make ends meet in this day and age.
I'm not saying the world should be handed to us or anyone BUT Why is it so hard for so many Americans now at days JUST to survive?
The Min wage debate has now begun AND THE fight to get it raised $1.75 is going to be the hardest fight IF it gets done. Think about this That $1.75 in most places in America today can't even buy a ****in loaf of bread!
My wife all her life has lived in the struggling gray sector of Americans who make too much for help and don't make enough to keep there head above fiscal water.
Her mother was a single mother she raised 2 kids on 18,000 (This was in the 80s) and the only help she got from her Ex-husband was the child support of $150 a month. $75 per daughter.
I know people have it worse than my wife and I. My wife and I often time will help those we know who are worse off than what we have it BUT you know I'm banging my head against the wall because both my wife and I just got paid today and we paid rent and insurance and water today and we only have $100 left for 2 weeks and that needs to go to gas so my wife and I can get to work. and yes I feel like a heel bitchin about our problem when I know there are people who probably won't be able to eat tonight.
NO ONE IN AMERICA SHOULD NOT HAVE TO GO WITHOUT FOOD AND NO ONE IN AMERICA SHOULD HAVE TO LIVE THIS COUNTRY AND NOT BE ABLE TO LIVE A COMFORTABLE LIFE.

Hey DUmmy congratulations this is what you voted for and now that you got it you dare to complain.
We warned you idiots that another term of 0bama and it was just going to get worse and worse, but all you did was scream "racist" and you ran to the polls to ask for 4 more years of the same.

I'm not saying the world should be handed to us or anyone BUT...
Yeah, you are. And you're at the right place. The primitives have been well documented to claim they don't want anything just handed to them, while demonstrating over and over again that they believe it's just not fair that things aren't just handed to them.
You're among fellow dimwits. Welcome to the world you voted to have.

3. I contemplated getting a divorce on paper just so my wife and 2 year old won't be saddled with debt if my diseases flare up and cause me another hospital stay. Luckily I'll be eligible for Medicare next year and my daughter gets money due to my disability.
What?!? A 64 year old with a 2 year old daughter? Is this kook some type of Steve Martin wannabe without the humor or the income?

This stupid shit does not know what hardships are. My parents grew up in the depression. All the things the dummie takes for granted like owning a car were reserved for the rich. When I was a little kid we either walked or caught the bus. The internet and TV had not been invented yet. I betcha I could slice off 200 bucks a month off their budget with ease.

Why can't the average American catch a break?
After the election I said this:
All I've got to say about your 'society' right now is that you won the election, but in the long run I don't think you're going to get what you thought you were going to get. You will, however, get what you deserve.
I still say that I'm correct and that it is the answer to your question.
edit to add:
When I wrote my initial reply I just read the first line of the DUmmie's post. I just finished reading the rest of it. This really got my attention: NO ONE IN AMERICA SHOULD HAVE TO LIVE THIS COUNTRY AND NOT BE ABLE TO LIVE A COMFORTABLE LIFE. I must have missed that part of the Constitution.
My message to diabetic is this:
Your lord and savor and his demonrat minions told you that they were going to fundamentally change this land of opportunity. They're hard at work doing just what they said: changing the land of opportunity into a third-world shit hole. You voted for them. You are so stupid you would vote for them again. The actions of you and your fellow Dummies have exhausted all of my compassion so go borrow a quarter from someone and call someone who cares because I really don't give a damn about your self-inflicted problems.

Quit whining. You wanted this. Own it.
BTW, We bust our butts. Oh, and we went to college, majored in things that are in demand, and got careers that pay well. Even with "only" an AAS for me.
-
Yeah, you're so poor... yet you have the INTERNET!! That's not a necessity. Cancel your internet and you will have more money for food.

The rate we are going, this generation just might get to experience another depression. And the last depression happened right between two world wars.

Everything in your little rant is a direct consequence of the ponderous government you love, the death-grip of hyper regulation, confiscatory taxation and the destruction of the dollar.
NO ONE IN AMERICA SHOULD NOT HAVE TO GO WITHOUT FOOD AND NO ONE IN AMERICA SHOULD HAVE TO LIVE THIS COUNTRY AND NOT BE ABLE TO LIVE A COMFORTABLE LIFE.
Somebody's gotta pay for the chocolate unicorns, sweet-pea. They just don't appear and as soon as you run out of your neighbors' money, guess what?
They fly away.

Very easily. I own my home free and clear (I played by the rules, (D)Ummies). Counting my monthly utilities, food, gas and even smoking ($29.99/ctn out of Ky :-) ) I can live on about $650.00-$700.00, if I am careful. About $550 during the non-heat, non-A/C months. That's with DirecTV, Verizon Cell and Internet.

DUmmy diabeticman (who is far short of that golden 1000-post mark, and for that reason is almost certainly a troll) makes one fundamental mistake.
He implies that a down-in-the-dumps, destitute, hopelessly broke, utterly unskilled DUmpmonkey is an "average American".
The average American, despite the best efforts of the magical muslim mulatto and his socialist confederates, still lives a pretty good life in the greatest country in the history of mankind.
The average American is not a born loser DUmmy.

The most a grown man can make is $10.53 an hour? For real? My brother was a high school drop out and took a job with UPS. I want to say he started at $17 an hour about 7 years back? Now he earns at least $30 an hour, maybe more. Plus overtime. Of course he works hard, He probably works 10 hours a day, longer around Christmas season. And the benefits are excellent, I don't think they pay anything toward their health insurance. And all he needed to know how to do was drive and read a map. And be willing to work.
-
Both of you idiots need to get 2nd jobs. Why have you been in the workforce for as long as you have and STILL make that amount of money says a hell of a lot about you. You don't say you are down on you luck, working until something better comes along, this is the goal you seem to have set for yourself. So sit and fester in it.

Oh and this comment you stupid asshole. I worked while my husband went to college full time (he worked part time). We had a kid with two years left of college. We got no assistance and some weeks we ate spaghetti and butter for days on end so we could buy diapers and formula. I also paid for daycare, no government assistance. I hate you leeches, I seriously hate you.
Seriously, why don't you both just go back home to your parents, all you are really are children in adult bodies.
-
And another thing...that comment I made above, I do not remember that time being miserable. I remember the excitement of our son being born and my husband graduating. We look back on those days with a smile, it was a wonderful exciting time. The difference is, we never thought someone owed us anything so we knew we had to do the grunt work now so we would eventually get the payoff later. We knew that wasn't always going to be our station in life. You seem to be stuck there, while you were sitting by the side of the road waiting for some government assistance to come save you, we were making pit stops on the way to upward mobility. .

5. I'm sorry to hear that.
I'd keep an eye out for local churches. Some of them have their own food banks here and they give 1-time assistance. That's what churches should be doing. I think they'd have more participants if they focused on helping their neighbors and building the community.
My brother, who lives at a distance from me, gets info at his local free meal. Sometimes the people who run the meal can help him.
Our local food bank is run thru a Christian ministries group. They take financial and family info and I think you would qualify there, at least for some food donations, and with your wife's reduced hours. On a Fri they have lots of produce and fruit from Walmartand if they don't have many clients they give extras to whoever is there because it will not last the weekend. Keep a ear out for stuff like that. As you know, every penny helps.
I wish you well.
All of the DUmmies profess to hating Walmart, and most of them deny ever going in one - ever, but they don't seem to mind getting stuff from the folks on their hate list if that stuff is free.

I wish I could live off $600/mo.
I pay that for gas alone, and that was before these recent price spikes.

Yeah, but those UPS workers have to move. Everytime I see them they are on the move and not slowing down a bit. I bet most of them could run a marathon. No primitive is going to hustle like that, it's beneath their superior intelligence.

Hey dummie....your wife works with people who obviously need help, like cleaning, shopping, cooking etc. How many elderly need help and can't afford it, but own their homes and have enough income to cover their monthly bills? Millions I bet.
If I were in your wife's shoes I would trade my services for room and board, while my husband worked his regular job and TOOK NIGHT CLASSES TO LEARN A TRADE THAT PAID MORE THAN $10 AN HOUR.
-
DUmmie says he makes $10.53 an hour, works a 40 hour week, grosses around $800 but only brings home about $400 after taxes.???????
I think I see his problem, he dropped out of school before he learned to do math.

I think he mean's a bi-monthly pay check. $1600 a month for insurance is excessive. Of course maybe he has to have one of those pre-existing condition plans. Have no clue what those cost.

My husband's cousin works for UPS in Phoenix. That guy clears damn near $80,000 a year driving a truck. It must be nice making that much money and still being able to be home every night to eat dinner with your family. My dad is a long haul truck driver, we only saw him on the weekends growing up. It sucked. But, he provided a living for all of us and we had food on the table and a Nintendo. ;)

Honestly why can't the average American catch a break...
The average American makes their owns breaks, dummie. They learn a marketable skill and when hired bust their ass. They start their own business. They work two jobs. They cut out frills and save their money. I suggest you do the same.
Tell you what I'll do dummie. Come over and post everything that you spend your money on in a month. I bet I could find at least $100 you waste your money on that you do not need to survive. Then I will suggest a course of action to improve your earning potential. Now here is the key dummie... you gonna have to work for it and work hard.
We both know you won't and I might as well be talking to the picture hanging on the wall. That is why you are a loser and I ain't. Sucks to be you.
-
Mr. & Mrs. primitive should consider working at McDonald's - They'll both get additional wages and benefits that this little tale of woe claims they are lacking.
But I suspect they consider that beneath them, and that they are only willing to work in their preferred fields.
