Dear Mav, you are in the same boat we oldsters have always been in.   Future Shock I think it is called.

It is not so much the technology that gets to us, it is the social mores and changes that confond us.

What was unthinkable yesterday is now in Style--------I remember seeing the twist first danced as a kid, then the first time my Mother went to church NOT wearing a hat.   First Easter when I was not given white gloves to wear.   First time I saw my Dad outside the house wearing a T shirt.    First mini skirt and knee high boots, and the boys that wore t shirts with a pack of cigarettes rolled up on one sleeve.

All such changes in society, the traditions thrown out the window for Style.   Didn't get much better as I became an adult, very shocking when Abortion became legal, and the age to vote went from 21 to 18.

Hardest and worse thing adjustment was late 70's and the navy took away the cracker jack uniform for the sailors and put them into suites and ties.   How many years of tradition down the rat hole ?   Fortunately that bit of foolishness did not last long, wasn't long before the old uniforms came back and a sailor was identified from the other services.   Then somewhere in there Sub Sailors were allowed to grow beards.

Yup Future Shock, were I to wake up at 24 years old today, by the time I got to my age I would be yearning for the old days that would be today.   Lord knows what the youngsters will face in the future but what ever it is will be normal to them and as they age they will too wish they were back in the good old days of 2013.
