Title: While the world turns to shit, DUmmies play their Greatest Hits
Post by: BannedFromDU on February 19, 2013, 09:39:12 AM

Let's see...the price of gas is higher than under Bush, the deficit is up and so is the debt, N. Korea is making like the Sham-Wow guy, Syria is in shambles, the murder rate in  Chicago now is spinning out of control, 0dumb**** is on vacation alone with Tiger Woods ("A three-way with Tiger AND 0bama? OMG!!!!" -white trash waitress after being approached by the Secret Service), the sequester is about to gut the military, and what do the liberals do?

Put on a show about Iraq. WOW.

Yeah, DU, if I was Creed, I'd have to put out a Greatest Hits album, too.

I wish you'd let adults run the government again.

I watched it, just because I was in my DU mole role and wanted to be able to comment correctly on it.

I actually learned some things.

I do find the timing stupid.  Who gives a crap, 10 years later?  Obama could be slaying little African kids in the Oval office and nobody would care, but the Iraq war and the evil republicans, we got to re-run that!

That said, I wish Bush would used different positions such as supporting terrorist to justify the war instead using the whole WMD thing.  It appears it was poor judgement.  The aluminum tubes that were supposedly for a creating Nuclear weapons or whatever was disproved by every able agency in the government yet Bush still used that as an example of why we need to go in.   Poor decision making IMO.

Do I think he out right lied?  I am not convinced.  The CIA did a horrible job of gathering evidence.  When IMO, they could have used ties with terrorists as more of a reason than WMD's.

Of course the liberals and Madcow say the evidence was tainted because Tenant was a puppet for Bush.  Well then who was the puppet in the following quotes from the democrats, BEFORE BUSH WAS IN OFFICE.

Quote
"One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line."
--President Bill Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998

Quote
"If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program."
--President Bill Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998

Quote
"Iraq is a long way from [here], but what happens there matters a great deal here. For the risks that the leaders of a rogue state will use nuclear, chemical or biological weapons against us or our allies is the greatest security threat we face."
--Madeline Albright, Feb 18, 1998

Quote
"He will use those weapons of mass destruction again, as he has ten times since 1983."
--Sandy Berger, Clinton National Security Adviser, Feb, 18, 1998

Quote
"[W]e urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S. Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq's refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs."
Letter to President Clinton, signed by:
-- Democratic Senators Carl Levin, Tom Daschle, John Kerry, and others, Oct. 9, 1998

Quote
"Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process."
-Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D, CA), Dec. 16, 1998

Quote
"Hussein has ... chosen to spend his money on building weapons of mass destruction and palaces for his cronies."
-- Madeline Albright, Clinton Secretary of State, Nov. 10, 1999

I remember those quotes from February of '98. I was a private rapidly deployed to Camp Doha, Kuwait getting ready to draw ammo and move out when Saddam capitulated. I spent the next 5 months in the desert sitting there making sure he didn't go full retard.

Deployed or stationed?  I was stationed at Camp Doha from August 1998 - August 1999.  Monica's War was an interesting time.

Bush DIDN'T use the whole WMD thing. It was ONE, ONE of a laundry list of things, including breaking the treaty for the bazillionth time. The media and the left (but I repeat myself) took that one issue and ran with it. Granted, Bush let them run with it, but you should go read his speech where he talked about his reasons. There were MANY.

Well, in the speech that Colin Powell gave the UN Security Counsel there the only mention of sanctions is UN Resolution 1441.

Then he opens with this

Quote
The purpose of that resolution was to disarm Iraq of its weapons of mass destruction. Iraq had already been found guilty of material breach of its obligations, stretching back over 16 previous resolutions and 12 years.

Then spends the next two hours going on about WMD's.

Colin Powell was there to sell the war to the UN Secretary Counsel and he did so basing all of his evidence on shotty evidence from the CIA.

I was a part of the Brigade 3rd ID rapidly deployed to Kuwait to show Saddam Hillary meant business. I was out in one of the cantonment sites in the desert from February through July sitting in an un-air conditioned tent for the majority of the time.  I was in A co. 3-7 Inf. 'Cottonbalers by God'! Small world!

That actually marked the point where I started thinking that Colin Powell was an idiot.  I remember the speech, and all the so-called 'Evidence' he had, which didn't amount to Jack Shit.  I remember thinking that there was either some sooper-sekrit intel they weren't publishing, or Powell was a total dope.  The latter proved to be the case.  I was perfectly willing to participate in OIF just on the grounds of Saddam being an asshole that needed to be taken down, of course, but the whole stated reason was as baseless as Obama's claiming to be a 'Constitutional scholar.'

Well from what I saw from Colin Powell's Chief of Staff, Colin wasn't to happy about the situation himself.

Are you talking about his personal CofS at State in his role as SecState, which is what he was when he made that speech, or one of the armed service Chiefs, or the Chairman of the JCS?

I aways felt a little bad for the combat unit rotations.  You guys show up, usually in the iddle of the night and get hustled off into the desert. Then you rotate in to Doha, get served lousy chow hall food and then go home.  I stopped eating at the chow hall, it made me sick then I realized why, let's just say there cleanliness standards and ours didn't match well.

Those of us stationed there got to go down town and even were invited into Kuwaities homes, go to the gold market and the mall, and even visit the palace and the Grand Mosque in Kuwait City.

I also picked up my promotable tag after Monica's War.  The Batallion Sergeant Major saw me after I should have gone to the board that month and asked why I had cancelled.  I was the only soldier available to man a 93 van set up at KMOD.  I was awarded 190 points for that board.  He had been my Sergeant Major at my previous command, I guess he liked me.

It was quite the eye opener to get back to Doha after 4 months of sitting in the desert. The chow hall and Uncle Frosty's desert oasis were like godsends to me. I did get the opportunity to go to the amusement park across from Camp Doha, which was probably one of the craziest things I ever did. After about 2000 me and 2 other soldiers were the only Americans in the park. Camp Doha's little px was way better than the trailedwe had out in the desert (when they finally got around to putting it up). Air conditioning after four months of nothing was also a pleasant surprise as well.
