Ashley Judd's Arsenal...Mock her at your own risk, Mitch.
Ashley Judd's Arsenal She's a Hollywood feminist, but also a Southern sweetheart. Mock her at your own risk, Mitch.
A feminist who can summon the sudsy enthusiasm of Jezebel, but also channel genteel, Southern sensibilities? If only she'd run for office! Which, of course, is exactly what she's considering: a challenge of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky. The rumors began last fall, and only grew after she didn't deny them.

1. She had me at "catastrophic mountaintop removal coal-mining sites."
Hedgehog, since you're borrowing lines from Jerry Maguire, why not just go ahead and say that Ashley Judd completes you?

17. ahh.. you said it so well
and I'd love to see a whole bunch more celebrities run for
Congress.. especially including more comedians.
Just serve for a few terms, change the laws, then get
out and make more movies.
Sean Penn, Danny Glover, Alec Baldwin, Susan Sarandon, Janeane Garofalo, Joy Behar, David Letterman, Jon Stewart, the list goes on and on. Al Franken can't do it all alone.

8. add to this
that she has been active as a liberal for years:
from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ashley_Judd
Ashley Judd's humanitarian work has revolved around becoming a global ambassador for YouthAIDS, a prevention program under the Population Services International. She has been a member of their Board of Directors since 2004, also. Judd has travelled with YouthAIDS to places affected by illness and poverty such as Cambodia, Kenya, Rwanda, and many others.
Inspired by her travels, which allowed her to witness the life of the poor and uneducated, she has since become an advocate for preventing poverty and promoting awareness internationally. She has met with political and religious leaders, heads of states, diplomats, and leaders on behalf of the deprived to convey the message to those who have the power to bring about political and social change.
Judd has also narrated three documentaries for YouthAIDS which aired internationally on the Discovery Channel, in National Geographic, and on VH1.
In 2011, Judd joined the Leadership Council of the International Center for Research on Women (ICRW).
Other organizations Judd has been involved with include the Women for Women International, and Equality Now, along with other non-governmental organizations which center around bringing attention to social, educational, health, economic, cultural, and financial funding of the unfortunate.
In other words, she is no political tenderfoot.
For an interesting take on Ashley Judd's work with YouthAIDS, check this out:

Whom the Gods Would Destroy….
They first make jaw-droppingly attractive and immensely famous. Exhibit A: Ashley Judd, world-renowned actress, would-be leftist political agitator, and self-regarded humanitarian. I see in the latest issue of Glamour — because someone showed me — that Ms Judd has had some troubles. Deeply personal troubles. Inner, psychological troubles, including “[c]odependence in my relationships; depression; blaming, raging, numbing, denying and minimizing my feelings.†These things are, curiously, “addictions.â€
As I read the Glamour piece, familiar things came back to me: Her need to mention her “perfection.†Her relaying of third-party affirmations of her attractiveness and personal integrity. Her desire to make others’ suffering about her. Her sly digs at her sister. And of course, her need to tell us all about it.
For my part, several days in South Africa with a movie star sounded like a swell deal. And so I found myself on a very odd trip with a very odd person. Given that Ashley’s ambitions of turning her online trip journal into a book have come to naught — in part, no doubt, because the YouthAIDS staffers kept having to scrub it of bizarre details like rhapsodies on the tactile joys of cheetah testicles — history must know the truth of that voyage. Or at least, my version of it.
I asked the YouthAIDS senior person whether maybe Ashley was a bit spoiled, and she told me the story of how Ashley refused to do their first promotional tour to Cambodia unless she was allowed to fly British Airways first class all the way.
A profound love for humanity, but no time for humans: the very picture of the narcissist celebrity leftist.
Later, emerging from a Catholic-run mental-retardation care facility with some particularly horrific cases of human misery, she leaned over to confide, “My sister could never handle this. Not like I can.â€
Ah, Wynonna. Fragile, glasslike Wynonna. Not durable and hardy like your sis.

Kinda funny how she wants to run for a senate seat in Kentucky...yet is on video saying that "home" for her will always be Tennessee.
And I seriously doubt that folks are gonna like her enthusiastic support for Obamacare.
Also...tying herself to Obama will only serve to remind people that the President never visited their state or IIRC sent federal aid during that statewide ice storm in 2009.

Why should I care about an actress who's career effectively halted after 1997?
-
I've only seen the name, bandied about.
<<<< Doesn't have a clue who it is.
<<<< Ignores 90% of TV, and 98% of the movies.

The DUmmie worship of celebrities is really disturbing to me. I can enjoy good acting in a movie, or good performance in a concert, without deciding that I should base my decisions on the views of a celebrity. By virtue of their wealth, most celebrities are far more out of touch with reality that the wealthy CEO's and bankers that the Dummies hate.
Many people go on charitable trips every year, but they don't bring camera crews along to videotape themselves being charitable. They go, focus on what they went there for, and maybe if they are lucky get a little bit of sight seeing in.
It sounds like Ashley Judd has some serious emotional problems, probably not uncommon in Hollywood. What on earth makes the Dummies think that she'll be a good politician?

Because she's just like them.

Had to look her up.
Sounds like a "B" movie actress.
Nothing of note.
Guess it's no wonder I don't know about her.
Appears the only "celebity" involved is due to being a noisy, nosey liberal.
Sheesh.

Harsh as human nature may be, it is a fact that a highly-attractive woman will always have the problem in her party's base of the men not taking her seriously, and the women voting against her out of jealousy...in this case, of course, she's crazy as Hell and has no business whatsoever in public office, but the foundational problem still applies.
-
Kind of hard to believe that she would even qualify since she hasn't spent that much time in either Kentucky or Tennessee. Also she was married to Dario Francetti the Indy race car driver until they recently filed for divorce and being a big lib isn't going to help her cause running for that high of an office. Then again their side elected Barry Big Ears.

They are, but celebridopes earn huge cash for little actual effort and the mumbling 'tards can identify with their guilt. Especially, when they go into (insert Progressive caused or non-existent problem here) pearl clutching overdrive. (D)Ummies are only really guilty of being stupid, evil useful idiots, but that's good enough.....

Not sure that Ashley Judd qualifies for that any more.

Consider that Liberal women will be comparing how she looks to themselves, and I think the point is still valid.
