* Obama sees clean energy fund with oil, gas revenue
* President vows to act without Congress if necessary
* More solar, wind power in national interest

WASHINGTON, Feb 12 (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama on Tuesday gave Congress an ultimatum on climate change: craft a plan to slash greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to the dangers of a warming world, or the White House will go it alone.
"If Congress won't act soon to protect future generations, I will," Obama said in his State of the Union address. "I will direct my Cabinet to come up with executive actions we can take, now and in the future, to reduce pollution, prepare our communities for the consequences of climate change, and speed the transition to more sustainable sources of energy."
Congress should consider putting a price on climate-warming carbon emissions, Obama said, briefly nodding to his failed, first-term plan to confront climate change. Republican opposition means the president's best chance to confront the issue will mean flexing executive power.
He vowed to push for more and cheaper solar and wind energy, and pledged to cut red tape to encourage more drilling for domestic natural gas, which Obama said had driven down fuel prices in the United States.
Yet anoher edict from the king (http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/02/13/obama-speech-climate-idUSL1N0BD4IY20130213?feedType=RSS&feedName=rbssEnergyNews&rpc=43)

He will be ignored. He has no power here. He should move along before someone drops a house.

The EPA and other agencies can do a lot of damage without needing congressional action. Granted some of it would be overstepping their boundaries, but that hasn't stopped Obama so far.

I think you are wrong.
HE has done so in the past with Executive Order and no member of Congress has done a thing to stop him. Why should he stop now when he has learned that neither The House or Senate will stand up to him.

Ultimatum? Go for it, jug-head. Let's see how much the press loves you when everyone they're trying to sell shit to is paying $10 a gallon for gas.
-
This is why O'bama is such a big threat to our country. He has absolutly no respect for the process that a president should go through if he intends to change something. In essence, he is beginning to try to take all power into his hands. God help us.....

They are in contempt of court on about 3 different things already pertaining to the EPA...and that's not counting Lisa Jackson's fake email accounts.

DAT they'll still love him and cover for him. They'll find every reason to justify paying that much and then convince everyone why they're lucky they are ONLY paying $10 a gallon.
Remember...this is the same media that pilloried W over gas inching towards $2 a gallon and demanded he do something to stop it. Now gas is regularly hovering around $4...we're told its a good thing when it drops to $3.60 and that there's nothing the President can do to lower the price.

The press may be Liberal whores, but they are whores more than they are Libs, TRG. The one thing they hate more than an articulate, successful Conservative is falling viewership/readership.

I'd beg to differ. Falling circulation/ratings isn't changing the editorial bias of the NYT, LA Times, Newsweak, CNN, ABC, MSNBC, etc.
I don't think they'll change until they get bought out by a conservative and the editors are fired.

Hi,
I think there is a distinct possibility of BO overstepping something that might have a popular appeal. I'm not sure how it will play out but he could be impeached. The republicans know he has a short time before congress knows it is time to think about reelection. Libs got their butts handed to them when they passed Obamacare.
The Republicans have held up the Hagel nomination until they get the truth on Benghazi. They may try to pass a law resciding his executive orders where he has really usurped the power of congress. If congress was smart they would pass the law, president vetos it and they start an impeachment trial. That will drag out and slow down the momentum.
He will spend a lot of political capital if he tries to go off on gun control and that could hurt. My guess is he will more than likely go with climate change while we are watching the other hand.
The republicans have one weapon if they can stay together. They can flat stop the democrat bills in the house and not fund things. If it causes a stalemate so be it. At this point if they are obstructionists it is for the good of the country.

Obama will never be impeached. The GOP lacks the balls to do it.

It won't matter that will be blamed on the Republicans and it doesn't matter if it's true or not, the Obama voters will believe it. It doesn't matter what he does and he knows this, if it doesn't work out, it's our fault not theirs.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the EPA is the ONLY agency that can pass its own laws, regardless of what Congress wants.

You are wrong IIRC.
The EPA doesn't pass laws. They enact regulations with the force of law.

And congress granted them the authority to do that. :banghead:

I know Congress, in all their collective wisdom, did that. But I understood that the EPA could ENACT laws, i.e. the gas mileage idiocy.
BTW, it's now $3.78/gallon in Indiana, and $3.99/gallon in Illinois.

Indeed they did,
