Title: Jaw
Post by: BEG on February 11, 2013, 09:20:56 PM
My jaw hurts like a bitch. I woke up a couple of days ago and my jaw felt like I have had TMJ for years. The right side hurts more than the left. I started wearing my mouth guard again but it hasn't made the pain ease up all. If you put your fingers right in front of your ears where your lower jaw connects to the upper is right where it hurts. I can't even open my mouth all the way.  My right ear even hurts.

I don't want advice really, more of an "awww you poor thing" type of thing but if anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated. Would heat help?

Well, I can't offer much in the way of advice that you probably haven't already heard, but I can honestly say I know how you feel.

Before they surgically removed my lower right wisdom tooth, they discovered that my left jaw is normal size, while my right jaw is only 3/8" thick; a real glass jaw, I guess.  I was sore for almost two months.  Trying to get to sleep was the worst.  I hope your pain subsides soon.

I wasn't born with wisdom teeth. I can't believe I have been grinding my teeth to the point it hurts this bad.

I must have gotten some of yours, because I was born with extra wisdom teeth.

Do you just teeth grinder, or do you suffer from some sort of ailment?

Sing along:

Once a day,
All day long,
And once a night,
From dusk til dawn......

Go to a doctor and see if a cortisone shot will help.

I have an appointment with a neurologist for migraines Friday. I'll ask him about it.

I officially have TMJ and I can barely open my mouth. I am supposed to take 800 mg of ibuprofen and see how it feels by Monday. If its not better he is going to send me to a specialist. Feel sorry for me  :bawl:

My brother has TMJ.  His face clicks when eats.

He's also lactose and gluten intolerant.  So gay.

So wrong, but yet so hysterically right.

BEG, sorry for your woes.  I hope you feel better soon.  TMJ is a beeyotch from what I have heard.

I have succeeded.

I have to say it's not a good idea to eat nothing but bread and water.  I did that last weekend and clogged up like a bad drain pipe.  I have an excuse... I found a great bread recipe.

I feel your pain.... ::)

I went through the same thing years ago.  It was like my jaws were out of alignment.  They not only hurt, they clicked when I tried to eat.  But I was lucky and it finally went away and hasn't come back....for now anyway.

Perhaps you ahve been grinding your teeth due to your angst ovr your grandmother. Such stress takes its toll. I have been lucky. My TMJ hasn't flaired up in years. It was horrible toward the end of college and has only flaired up a couple of times since. Chewing gum and grinding my teeth seems to be the culprit when it does. I don't do much of either anymore.

Hang in there BEG. My wife used to suffer from migraines. They eventually prescribed Axert. You take it when the signs of an oncoming migraine appear. If the signs progress, your can take it again approx. 2 hours later. Can't take it again for 24 hours. If that don't work, go to the hospital. It avoided several late night ER trips. However, six tablets after insurance was about $40. Even full price was cheaper than an ER visit.

Did you find someone to snake it out for you?
