She shouldn't have used a belt but that kid really needed his ass beat.
-
I bet he never does that to anyone ever again. Probably saved him from becoming the next Trayvon.
I hate that they name the company because now the idiot peasants are going to blame the store.
-
There was a time when this story wouldn't have gone any further than the front door of the store. Mom/pop would have given the kid a second whipping right there in the store and the kid might have grown up to be president.....now, they just grow up causing more problems for everyone.
-
So the kid is running around the store, mother apathetic and oblivious, kid doing God-knows-what, clerk .calls boy "demon" ( which he is acting like), throws a cookie at the employee (probably not the worst thing he did in the store), and the clerk does what the parents should have done. 26 times? Maybe a bit too much.
[DU mode] Well, Jason, what if it was YOUR son? [Off DU mode]
Well, for one thing, I keep my kids within site at ALL TIMES. So many freaks out there, could be kidnapped and. Yes, I am paranoid about that, especially where I live.
And two, before we get out of the car, I put the feat of God into them. They know if they step over a certain boundary, there WILL be a spanking in the store.
Luckily, I don't have to resort to the second one as they get older.
-
Possible 20 years for this? We have child rapist and murderers that have shorter possible sentences.
Mom and dad fail to raise their kid right and now some clerk pays for it? Granted 26 times with a belt is excessive, but still 20 years is insane.

Wait one minute here, has any parent ever never had a kid act up in a store ?????
Arggggg, I have dragged my kids back to the car many a time when they acted like deamons-------Tired, hungry or out of sorts for being cooped up in the car on a cross country trip.
I have seen many an adult couple get into an argument with each other or others that force their carts in line of others.
Never have I seen an adult or child flogged for their actions.
Yes I have seen kids act out, scream and roll on the floor kicking at a parent that refuse to buy them a toy or candy. Shit happens----
Flogging brings to mind the Muslim method of punishment for anti social acts.
What ever possessed this clerk to Flog this child for being rude, why not take the belt back to the store and beat up the mother ??
-
We can count on some liberal pinhead to call for belt control soon.

Well said. I cannot stand children running around in public.
-
Do kids act like little hellions in public? Yup. Do they deserve to get their asses beat? Absofricken-lutely.
By me? Never. Toss the parent and the kid, but under NO circumstances do you EVER touch someone else's kid. My old man was a hard-core disciplinarian, but ain't no way he'd EVER let someone touch his son. That was HIS job to beat my ass.

It is better to let people think you the fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

I don't have a problem with the clerk being fired or even prosecuted for assault on a minor, but 20 years is ridiculous.

It's not the crime they did necessarily, but the possible sentence of the crime they're being charged with committing. Yeah, I find it highly unlikely that they'll get 20 years, although a felony conviction is going to screw that lady over enough.

From the story:
The boy's mother and sister were in the store at the time but did not witness the beating.
How can you not hear your own child screaming Momma! as he said he was? Why was he running around unwatched?

It happens all the time.
Some years ago I was Christmas shopping with my ex-wife. She just had to hit some sale and I was stuck going with her making it worse the place was packed and I can't stand crowds. There was this little kid 6 maybe 7 running around screaming the entire time. He was pushing one of those little "Shopper in training" shopping carts around running into people. Abut the 3rd Time he ran into my leg I reached down and picked him up by the arms bringing his face abut 6 inches from mine, in a mean voice I said "Get you ass over with your mom and be quiet". The kids jaw just dropped open and I sat him down. He ran to his moms side wrapped himself around her leg and turned to look at me with a scared look on his face. Everyone started to applaud. His mom looked at me and mouthed "Thank you".

Lay a finger on a kid these days and the little bastard will run away screaming, "Lawsuit! Lawsuit!" I've seen it happen.

Did you read that, DUmmies?
THAT, boys and girls, is a good example of a bouncy. Four bongs, at least.
And more importantly, 1--IT HAPPENED, 2--it's believeable.

Just what did I say that was foolish????
Ever been in a situation where people brought kids with them to visit and the kids ran about as the parents thought YOU had the duty to discipline them. Hard to visit when others kids are jumping up and down on the furniture or breaking lamps.
Ever had to watch a friend totally ignore their kids as they kicked your dog or cat, some people do this and I have to make a split second decision on if the friendship is worth it.
Will not do one bit of good to yell at the kids, their parents are there and permit the actions, ignore them. So what do you do, not much one can say with tact, if the parents themselves find no fault in their actions. Not the kids fault if they go nuts and their parents do not correct them and have them find their manors. [If they have ever been taught any ]
Children have to be taught how to act in public, young as 3 years old needs training in many things, potty, how to use a spoon to eat, how to put toys away, not to run into the street or take it into their head to run outside naked as a Jay Bird.
This 8 year old had never been taught much of anything and had a big mouth on him. Not his fault I blame the mother that raised the child to feel free to act this way. Betcha if the clerk had walloped the the mother , the mother would have kept a better eye on her boy.

You quoted me so I can only imagine you were responding to me. Your fist line was "wait a minute" then you went on a diatribe that had nothing to do with responding to anything I said.

Ah, yes.
The vesta rant.
The gift that keeps on giving. Sorta like VD.
O-)

I agree.

What the left seems to fail to understand is that sometime Mom or dad have to be a little bit Darth Vader and a little bit Mary Poppins depending on what the situation is. When you have to become the one thing you do not wish to become then it should be done in the best interest of the child to teach them there are limits and consequences to what you do and they are not always pleasent.

Shit, were we grew up all the parents in the neighboorhood helped out. If one dad wasn't around another dad stepped in with a belt. I saw my dad spank a few kids and a few dads spanked me.
-
I hate parents that are obvlious to what their child is doing. It is The PARENTS responsibility to their child
Keep them with eye shot at ALL times, and discipline them if/when necessary

That's how it was when I was growing up. And if I got my ass whooped by another parent, I knew it was only half over cause my dad would get a call and I'd get it all over again when I got home.
