Beyoncee's...I am amazed
That people are shocked, nay horrified, at the clothes! Oh my... I did not particularly watch the half time show, but went and found it on the interwebs. You are shocked by the direction entertainment has taken? Serious?
Oh but there was grinding...Elvis Presley started that in 1959...at the time the horror of white mc parents was truly code for the ...black music that was invading popular culture. And rock was the creature of the devil and the end of acceptable behavior.
I see this as a continuation...but the clothes!!! You kid me, right? We have seen this starting with some white artists, one in her sixties I believe, using costumes like this since the 1970s...(and she can still pull it off).
So...in my mind there is more to this than grinding and clothes or lack off...but hey, this is just my cultural explanation. As to the music, nice choreography...and nice use of light. Would I go out of my way? Nope. But being critical due to clothes and grinding...no, not really.

reporting entertainment gossip as news is propaganda
It's designed to create emotional responses rather than supplying the public with rational information regarding their own lives.

10. Forgive me, but perhaps you missed this little detail
1.- there is a whole program dedicated to entertainment news, that be E-News, in the age of papers we called it the social pages.
2.- People starting to share their outrage over the show, here on DU, as it was happening. It is called live blogging.
Amazingly I was doing the same from a hearing the other day. I guess that was ok, since it was a public forum

11. What I find amazing is that there are dozens of threads about this and...
you STILL cannot get her name right.
Journalism 101...look into it.

Hey Zappaman - does she ever get anything right?
**sigh** I guess we need to add Cultural Events/Entertainment Expert to her resume.

High 5 to Zappaman.

As far as looks go, nads, you scare me more then any overproduced prepackaged sassy Obamas daughter. As someone who prefers a harder rock type of genre, she's not particularly shocking. Nads outdated notions of white women are what is particularly shocking but judging by her appearance there's never been a moment she's fit into the world of an attractive white women with a booty to know just how non threatening beyonce attire is. Ugh she's just...challenged.

I wonder if they have any problem with her 2.5 million dollar earrings?

Note to self: If I were to spend 2.5 million on a pair of earrings, I sure as shit wouldn't buy a pair that look like tacky costume jewelry.

I saw it and thought she put on a good show. She had solid choreography and good effects. Overall, it was a better halftime show than the last three,or so. Her outfit was less revealing than a bikini, and I've seen every one of her moves on a dance floor when I went to places that had dance floors.
That being said. Beyonce just isn't my cup of tea. There's just something about her that just doesn't work for me.
-
Why didn't they Dumpmonkies get upset over how much her earrings cost and how much food it could feed the poor?
-
Hell I didn't watch the halftime show because they're usually not very good and we needed a refil on beer.

Good question.
But it'll never be answered.

$475 million can obscure a lot of ugly.

I do not believe I've ever heard a Beyonce song. I guess I'm a racist, too.

I liked how a few DUmmies blamed conservatives for complaining. Not very self aware.
I also liked how it became a contest between the Beyonce is a whore vs. Beyonce is empowering to women and shaking her ass in an overly commercialized setting proves she owns her sexuality.

I remember some old sitcom where one character tells a rich character that money can't buy happiness. The rich character told her that maybe that was true but if you have money you can buy a big ass yacht and dock it right next to happiness.
