Title: Is this an 8/10 woman's size?
Post by: Gina on February 01, 2013, 02:48:30 PM
I am sorry. I am a 12 and I do not look no where near this fluffy. Really? :???:

Quote
Mercedes, nicknamed MJ, said she's 'not ashamed of' her body which fluctuates between a size 8 to 10.

Without a suitable (no pun intended) picture it is impossible to make an objective comparison.  Now a subjective assessment of the photos presented would be marginally fluffy but cellulite and stretch mark free. Not a ten nor a two bagger. :???:

You know how it is with women, they stuff a sixe 9 foot in a size 6 1/2 shoe.....same with clothes sometimes, they stuff a size 16 body in a size 10 dress, jeans or bikini.

My spousal unit is just shy of being 5 feet tall, and the biggest size she's worn was a size 8.  She never looked like this woman does.

This woman has let herself go far, far, beyond a size 8.
Title: Re: Is this an 8/10 woman's size?
Post by: jtyangel on February 01, 2013, 05:19:25 PM
Depends on stature. I can look bigger then a size 8 with chicken legs because I have thicker more muscular(and short) legs(not even 5'3"), but I wore an 8 mostly in my best, leanest shape(in recent years). Problem is someone can be a 10 and not be lean. they look like a flab machine out of clothes(which she isn't wearing a lot there), but are still small enough to wear a 10. I would say she could be having seen some Mestizo type women myself(since they are very diminutive in stature) but she's definitely not lean in any way ie she probably looks better in her size 8/10 jeans then she does in her size medium swimsuit which digs into her more fatty composition.

I've seen hideous women that wear size 20. I've seen hideous women that were size 1.

I'm 5'7", but my middle section is not at all too thin.  One thing I do notice when I'm down to this weight is that seats are sure harder on the rear.

LOL...no padding.   I get colder too.

I just went to the link of that show.  It's sorta like a Jersey Shore reality show with Iranians.  They call themselves Persians, so they must be second generation Persians that came here when the Ayatollah took over Iran.

MJ is very short.  She wears really high heels and she still looks short.  So maybe she is a 10 when she should be about a 2/4.

No idea, but it seems like all jean makers use different criteria .  My wife could buy 4 brands of  jeans all supposedly the same size, 1 might fit, but the others might be too big or too small.  WTF?

Part of that may be cut. A mid waist versus low versus boot cut versus skinny. Those all will fit differently and the closer for like a skinny jean is not as forgiving on any woman who is softer in the middle. Neither are the lower rise jeans  I think style from season to season can dictate too the fit.

She normally buys straight leg regular jeans, but it seems sizes vary from brand to brand.  OTOH, with men's jeans I can buy almost any brand of the right size and they fit.

Petite in that case has more to do with stature. I feel out on both sides of it. Petite are too short and feel like floods and regular seems to be made for women who are 5'7"(I assume regular is average and I don't recall that height being average for women. About 3 inches too tall actuall). I've had better luck with juniors but you have to get over vanity since the narrower cut thru the hips means a bigger size but the length seems to consider 15 year olds are still growing and would be about my height or just a little taller. Like I said though some things are unwearable due to cut or they have to be bought bigger. An 8 in a regular womans size can easily be an 11 in jrs world.

Post by: debk on February 04, 2013, 07:19:32 AM
The more expensive the clothes, the more "forgiving" the sizes. A 10 at Walmart could be a 2/4 at Saks. Designers aren't stupid, even though their clothes may be off the wall weird.

When clothes are purchased at Talbots or some similar type brand like Land's End, Eddie Bauer, etc, who were at one time almost exclusively mail order through catalog, the catalogs had in the middle a size chart. So many inches here, was one size, there another. Women measured their bust, waist, hips and it all correlated with a specific size. Petite pants had a 25-27" inseam, regulars were 29-30", longs were 32"+. Any woman under 5'2" was considered a "petite".

Now days, 5'4" is considered petite. But I'm not even sure that's right either.

I'm 5'4" and have such a hard time finding clothes to fit. I used to buy longs in pants, now I buy regulars and sometimes even petites for a skinny straight leg, and they are long enough in the stride. Regular dresses don't fit at all, and petites are too short in the sleeves and just don't fit properly. And I have no clue how tops are being sized anymore. I used to wear a small, now I'm anywhere from a medium to an XL in order to not have them skin tight through the chest, but then they are so huge through the shoulders and sleeves, and there is so much fabric I can't tuck it without looking like a pillow stuffed into the pants.  :censored:

I think men's clothes are so easy to buy! I pick up stuff all the time for M and for my son. Waist is one size and match the length to it for pants, shirts all I have to do is match the neck/sleeve length or just the neck and the rest will fit. It's not fair!!! :bawl:

I think it also has to do with the fact that so many clothes are made in SE Asia, Phillipines, and China...all those people are midget size compared to many Americans.

I have that problem with steel toed work boots.  I have to buy shoes that are too big, because the steel part cramps my toes.  I blame it on the fact that I hated wearing shoes  when I was a kid.

I feel pretty good with 8" now.

Someone needs to put "Resident Pervert" under your screen name.

I'm 5'7", but my middle section is not at all too thin.  One thing I do notice when I'm down to this weight is that seats are sure harder on the rear.

I didn't get up to size 3 until I was 50.  I've been sitting on pillows my whole life.

I would't kick her out of bed.

That's cuz you'd have to more or less roll her out of bed.
