Exposed: How Whole Foods and the Biggest Organic Foods Distributor Are Screwing Workers
http://www.alternet.org/food/exposed-how-whole-foods-and-biggest-organic-foods-distributor-are-screwing-workers
Whole Foods is under investigation for 45 violations of federal labor law.
“The union is like having herpes. It doesn't kill you, but it's unpleasant and inconvenient, and it stops a lot of people from becoming your lover." -- John Mackey, CEO of Whole Foods
Whole Foods Market (WFM) CEO John Mackey has done a brilliant job of creating the illusion that his empire is all about abundance, bounty and the good life. But there’s nothing bountiful or good about the way the second-largest non-unionized food retailer exploits workers.
United Natural Foods Incorporated (UNFI), the largest multi-billion dollar wholesale distributor of organic and “natural†foods in the U.S., is currently under investigation for 45 violations of federal labor law, including physically threatening immigrant workers in California who were trying to form a union.

Sounds really bad.
Just who is doing the "investigating"? :whistling:
Edit to add link. :banghead:

Protect our workers from physical threats by outlawing the threat of unionization!

Amazing how these things happen right after they deviate from the fascist line. :whatever:
Please continue idiots. I'm ready:

The unions have managed to DUmb down and indoctrinate son many in the last thirty years that all these stupid people can do is parrot the democrat and union party line. The democrat party is all about diversity as long as everyone, and I mean everyone, thinks exactly the same. Hitler, Stalin, and Mao are all in hell green with envy at what the democrat party has accomplished here.

I thought that was mold'n'fungus.

I love Whole Foods and shop there at least twice a month. It is always mobbed when I am there (no matter what day of week, or time of day). They pride themselves on selling local produce and their meat and ready food sections are also fabulous. I also am extremely picky about the quality of vitamins I give my children and only purchase them there.
I don't see a DU boycott making a dent to their $$ sales.

At the end of the day misfit - if they own a SUCCESSFUL business, then they are a Republican at heart. Always.

I should have waited.
DUmp primitives may have seen this post, and are now avoiding that OP like the plague.
Rats.
Or they're not out of bed yet.

I like the way Whole Foods fleeces the DUmbasses using the "organic" scam.
All groceries try it, but the hippie places like Whole Foods make it an art form.
Come right in and pay double for your produce! It's organic! If you eat it, you'll be healthier! You may never die!
Organic groceries are brought to you by the same fine people who invented global warming.

Their produce is top notch - the best you will find. Some people don't like their food drenched in pesticides. Go figure.

Wormy apples. Won't go back when I find wormy apples.

The wormy apples are intentional.
They need to salt a few of them in to make people believe "organic" produce is different.
Bug-eaten, misshapen, undersized produce just has to be healthier, so it's worth paying double for it.
And as a bonus, you'll never die.

Not to mention the additional protein from the worms in the apples! O-)

Absolutely none of Whole Food's produce look like that.

The primary purpose of organic farming is not to prevent foodborne illness but to practice and promote environmentally sustainable agriculture.
“We don’t purport that organic is healthier than conventional food,†said USDA spokeswoman Soo Kim.
“The organic standards do not directly address issues of food safety but instead production and processing and handling methods of agricultural products,†Kim said in an email. But, she added, “organic certification by the USDA doesn’t preclude any operation from having to meet the food safety and environmental requirements†of two other federal bodies: the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Environmental Protection Agency.
Organic labeling standards are based on the percentage of organic ingredients in a product.
For crops, this means growing on land without the application of any prohibited substances (as defined in the Organic Foods Production Act of 1990) and without the use of genetically modified organisms, most conventional pesticides or sewage sludge, for example. Organic livestock must be raised without hormones, fed 100 percent organic feed without byproducts and given year-round access to the outdoors.
Oooooh sewage sludge, yummy.

All so sickly looking... said no one who shopped at Whole Foods ever.

Sure looks like it's worth paying double to me.
And lots of us stop reading as soon as we see the moonbat word "sustainable".

It's a matter of taste and priorities. If the consumer wants organic because it - it tastes better, it looks better, it cooks better, it is free of sewage and pesticides, then yes, it is worth more and there is a market for it.
Capitalist pigs that they are.

I only support budgets that are sustainable. I wish that was a moonbat word.

I supported the fascist Whole Foods just a few hours ago. They have the best challah around here when you can't get to a kosher store before they close.

If I want to buy fish, it is pretty much the only place I go, aside from Central Market. No piers around to get it fresh from.
And, that is where I get my soap too.
So, I go about once a month for the above, and pick up what I want on special while I am there. I get my vegetables and fruit from a co-op, but sometimes I want something additional, and WF fits the bill nicely.

You buy fish for the whole month? P.U.

I just made a 130 mile RT to shop at WF, Fresh Market and Trader Joes Monday. WF and FM are about the same in terms of quality of produce and fish. WF definitely has more of both, though.
If anyone saw what I have to choose from locally for produce (except in summer) they'd understand why I make that occasional drive.
If the DUmmies are mad at WF, all the more reason for me to shop there.

SLW and I go to the Whole Foods in Sarasota, she likes certain stuff there.
I go to look at the "HomeLess" bums. You see, in the City of Sarasota where Whole Foods built, the
store is right next to the Bus Station!! And as a Super Duper Bonus, the Libtards that are now in
charge of the city have told the cops to leave the "homeless" bums alone.
Whole Foods used to have a lot of free samples but they have cut waaaaay back as
it attracts the bums like shit... well, you know. O-)
Anything the Libtards touch goes to crap.
