Jesus, the flu season

Last edited Wed Jan 30, 2013, 08:47 PM USA/ET - Edit history (1)

I've never caught it, but I feel like my bones are aching and my nose is running like a river. Sickness NEVER fells me. Jesus this flu is evil.

I've had a headache for 2 days, and ibuprofen is the only thing keeping the fever back. I've been knocked on my behind.

7. Worst flu season eva.

I read that it is not the same strain of flu we are use to each year. Caught it last November and I haven't had the flu in years! At first I thought it was my chronic allergies...until the fever and sweats. I wish I had some good news, I had to ride it out for about 2 weeks and could feel it reoccurring (or at least trying to) over the next several weeks after.

17. I think I've got partial immunity to it already

because I caught it before the middle of November, which is when I usually get the jab. It lasted the full 18 days it's supposed to, but my temperature wasn't really high and the glop I coughed up for almost three weeks stayed clear.

Since there was so little to treat, I didn't go to the doc and so I'm not part of the statistics.

Flu is a serious illness when you catch a strain you've never been exposed to. It requires bedrest and lots of fluids and laying out of work until the fever is down. Once the fever is down, you are no longer contagious and can go into work hacking and wheezing and scare the hell out of everybody else without making them sick.

And yes, the one that the jab didn't cover is one of the more serious ones. As I said, the average time to cough your head off is 18 days before you are finally rid of it completely.

Sometimes when you get knocked on your ass, it makes the most sense to stay there. This is one of those times.

Worst headaches ever, now I started caughing. No work or school for the rest of the week
I guess the worst is still to come so I'm bracing myself.

50. I last suffered from flu in 1968

until this year.

It kicked my ass. I coughed so hard that I cracked a rib and it was downhill from there.

Like you, Aerows, I have an almost unbeatable immune system but I wilted under this one.

Hang in there and out-last it.
still there

I thought I was catching it.  Woke up one morning congested and coughing , stuffed up but runny nose and general achiness.  Took some Ibuprofen, got some rest and felt fine the next day.

It had me yesterday evening and into today. When I left work last night around 6pm, I sat in my truck and shivered for 5 minutes. I'm a polar bear. I don't shiver unless it's -20 F or have a fever. I went to the doctor today. Since my wife is in chemotherapy, if my son and I get sick, we have to hit it hard with meds to get rid of it fast.

I posted a little today but not much.

Get better.  I find that Airborne and Zicam helps me fight the bug if I catch it soon enough.  My mom has COPD, or as she likes to refer to it, Asthma.  Either way I can't be over that way and get sick on her.  It will put her on the hospital.

First care package I sent to my son, I sent Zicam. Works every time.

No mention of healing thoughts or vibes that I could see in that thread.  I guess healing thoughts only work for dead dog broken hearts--not the flu.

How many will die this year for lack of flu vaccine?
And why isn't it being given to the aged? I thank my goddess that my 79 year old mom got hers, but many many many other have not got it?

Isn't it true that the Bushies knew about this over a year ago but did nothing to stop it!

How many? How many more will die because of this administration's incompetence!!!

the FLU is still INCREASING....29 states at epidemic levels (CDC web site)
Edited on Fri Feb-18-05 06:31 PM by diamond14

bush* and his cabal did NOT provide enough flu vaccine ON TIME for America...now, Americans are being KILLED by the FLU because of this massive bush* failure...the whole horror of this bush* mistake is being covered up by big-time PR-SPIN on the CDC web site...that spinning is deceiving US and medical doctors, and preventing proper efforts to save American lives....it's ghastly and it's criminal....

--------------------------------------------

CDC = Center for Disease Control...a United States Government Agency...and the buck stops at bush* desk....the manipulation of the data is horrorifying....it's more than just SPIN, it prevents DOCTORS and MEDICAL CAREGIVERS from fully understanding and responding to this crisis....DEMAND that CDC publish the NUMBER OF DEATHS in every state, every week....it's the only way to battle this disease...

Bush Flu Plan: DROP DEAD
Edited on Tue Oct-19-04 07:19 PM by Stephanie

According to CBS News, Bush is now blaming the flu shots crisis on CLINTON.

Will GEORGE BUSH ever in his life take responsibility for ANYTHING?

Flu Vaccine Shortage May be Bush's Undoing!
People in America are finally pissed! Is it gas prices? No. Is it the war in Iraq? No. Is it the deficit? No. Is it prescription drug prices? Nooooo . . .

It's the fricking flu vaccine shortage. People are just outraged. You talk to the person on the street this week and they are only concerned if they, personally, are going to be able to get a vaccine.

Bush's "Chicken Soup" cure isn't going to cut it. When people are finding out that this drug importation was allowed, the HHS Department didn't bother to make sure we had backup supply and the fact that those at risk may never get a vaccine is really a hot button topic right now.

Most businesses around here are not offering it this year.

This may be Bush's Waterloo!

We load up on Airborne and EmergenC. Also my Husband and I got the Flu once years ago within hours of each other, we were in bed literally for a week, took a month to recover, if someone can post on the internet? they don't have the flu.

I was wondering how long it would take before they blamed Bush.  :mental:

Medical advice: don't share the bong with sick people.
