The credit card companies will ****** You Up if you're not careful.

Now credit card fees can be passed along by merchants to customers. Watch your merchant. Watch your bills. Maybe ask before you buy.
We made a purchase today at a local small business. I asked the guy if he was passing along the fees. He said he would not. He feared pissing off his customers by appearing to nickel and dime them. Besides, the fees were already covered in his pricing structure.
I dare say pretty much NO one will lower prices by 4% and then pass along fees on credit card purchases only. So anyone charging the fees is likely to be ****ing you.

3. I try using cash at local/small retailers, credit at predatory big-box retailers as my small part to level the playing field.

Stinky is a flat out liar. The credit card companies are limited by Dodd-Frank as to what they can charge stores.
This new fee is a separate issue that retailers won by suing the credit card companies, so this isn't on the CC companies.
Stinky is rich, he can afford the fees.

Remember one of the characteristics of primitivity, and the sparkling old dude is no exception.
When a primitive starts to complain about being cheated, or almost being cheated, it's a sure indication the primitive has just cheated, or tried to cheat, someone else, in some other manner.
The primitives are funny that way.
I have no doubt the sparkling old dude's tried to shave the maximum possible off clients of his consulting business.
Which is okay, I guess, but it's no reason for him to get all indignant when someone tries doing it to him.

I thought Stinky's post was a gratuitous use of the word "****." It wasn't necessary and sounded course. That's my review. Anyway,
Watch your merchant. Watch your bills. Maybe ask before you buy.
Stinks, they are required to post HUGE signage indicating any of this stuff. Anybody too stupid to not read big signs, deserves to be ripped off. Also, I don't think this is going anywhere. Competition is fierce in a free market. That's a good thing.

So he raised the prices to cover the fees he would have to add on to the bill later. Am I reading that correctly?

Yes, you are. So IOW according to husb2, the guy isn't passing along the fees because he already worked the additional expense into the price structure, which means he's passing along the fees.
I'm going with bouncy. husb2 made this up to try and sound smart. The last paragraph gives him away as he outsmarts himself.

Which means that when I pay cash, I'm subsidizing DUmmies use of his credit card.

and as the stinky one left, the owner said "Good Riddance!" and squirted sanitizer on his hands.

I know some gas stations around here charge 3 cents more for gas purchased with a credit card. They also have a minimum purchase of around 4-5 dollars.

Yeh, that is here also.
Dave Ramsey also said you could take cash in with you at big box stores and offer them cash and they might lower prices. I have never tried that.

Same here--3 to 4 cents. When I fill up my wife's Toyota, I use cash . . . come to think of it, when I fill up my Toyota, I use cash.

I do that when I know the business owner.
