I've searched for an answer to as to why my system keeps shutting down and coming up empty.
Here's the message I get when I restart:
Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3
Locale ID: 1033
Additional information about the problem:
BCCode: 9f
BCP1: 0000000000000003
BCP2: FFFFFA80039B1A10
BCP3: FFFFF80000B9C518
BCP4: FFFFFA80057A57F0
OS Version: 6_1_7601

When I get the message I have an option for Windows to check for a solution. I click, but get no response at all.

This is tricky business.
it's a device driver problem while changing power states, like when your computer sits idle for awhile and then goes to sleep or when you wake it up.
My initial thoughts are to manually run windows update and then consider the instructions on my second link for rolling back recent changes using system restore.

Thanks. I'm getting started on this now. The first link you give is beyond my comprehension, so I'm going through the second one which I can almost understand. And you're correct when you say it's due to power states since that's when this is happening. I never shut down unless I'm out of town for several days.
