Study: Obese drivers more likely to die in crashes
Source: USA Today

Obese drivers are more likely to die in collisions than people of normal weight, a new study has found.

The risk of death increased the more obese the driver was, according to the study released online Monday in the BMJ Group's Emergency Medicine Journal.

The study's authors pointed to previous research that showed that an obese driver's lower body is propelled farther upon impact before a seat belt engages the pelvis. The driver's additional tissue prevents the belt from fitting snugly, but the upper body is held back.

The authors suggest that while obese people may have underlying health problems, vehicle design may need to change to provide better protection.

New campfire.

Our future is looking very bright. Once the stupid and the fat eliminate themselves, DUmmies will be on the endangered list.

Well dummie... here's the deal. They have beat the smokers into submission with high taxes, lawsuits and such and now that they are only 25 percent of the population the government needs to make up the lost tax revenue.

The bell is tolling for thee now. This is just the start. This is big government for you. Wait until the government starts to tell you welfare pukes what you can and cannot eat.

Think I am wrong? Just peruse any newspaper in any state when the legislature is in session. If you start seeing "It's for the chiiiiildren" it's all over.

It's coming dummie. You wanted it, you worked for it, you voted for it, you were successful and now you
                                                             :ownit:

Don't matter to me. I ain't fat for my height. It's about time you fat asses started paying more for your lifestyle like us smokers have. Oh and I am laughing my ass off at the "I don't make enough to eat healthy" argument. Sooner or later someone will come up with the idea that maybe you should not be eating anything until you get to the right weight.

Suck it dummies. Suck it long and hard.

From the picture threads I've seen, being mentally retarded or ill causes you to be morbidly obese.

So by changing car design to accommodate the obese, is it going to be safer for someone who is not? Or less so? Say they alter airbags for those of immense girth, are those at a healthy weight more at risk for injury when it goes off?
