The Zipper
A Marine walked into a supermarket with his zipper down. A lady cashier
Walked up to him and said, "Your barracks door is open."
Not a phrase that men normally use, he went on his way looking a bit
Puzzled. When he was about done shopping, a man came up and said,
"Your fly is open." He zipped up and finished his shopping.
At the checkout, he intentionally got in the line where the lady was
That told him about his "barracks door." He was planning to have a
Little fun with her, so when he reached the counter he said, "When
You saw my barracks door open, did you see a Marine standing in there
At attention?
The lady (naturally smarter than the Marine) thought for a moment and
Said, "No, no I didn't! All I saw was a disabled veteran sitting on a
Couple of old duffel bags."

Then I'll tell him.
Slowly, and I'll be sure to use small words.

NHSparky, Being a fomer Sailor, I must ask you about this.
I heard that Sailors would play tricks on the Marines that were on board in ways that took advantage of their traditional lack knowledge.
One was that a Sailor, while underway, would go to the area of the ship that had shipboard telephones (usually connected while at port) and then pretended to have a telephone conversation. The Sailor would wait for a Marine to get in line for his phone call. The Sailor would end his call and then watch the Marine try to make his phone call on the disconnected phone. Apparently, the Marine didn't understand (in those days) that the ship had to be in port for the phone to be connected.
Nowadays, the Sailors and Marines have access to email and satellite phones while the ship is underway Also, Marines are required to have a high school diploma (or equivalent) before they can join. That wasn't the case about 20+ years ago.

Woman points at zipper and tells man that he has left his barn door open.
He tells woman, "Don't worry. If it can't get up, it can't get out.".
