Poll: Home invasions and the fear thereof.
The recent gun talk on DU has led me to come to the realization that there are a lot of people fearful of their home being invaded while they are in the home enjoying their freedoms.
At one time, I lived in a lousy neighborhood. Neighbors and I suffered break-ins and burglaries. But I never remember fearing a house invasion and wouldn't dream of keeping loaded weaponry handy so as to kill intruders. Now I live in a peaceful, heavenly place and of course a home invasion is not within the realm of possibility.
How about you?
The responses are, of course, moronic. All the lemmings are on point for today's theme: Being armed means you're a fearful coward.
I just brought the thread over for another hockeymom personal ancedote:

21. I had an attempted home invasion in Queens
Last edited Sat Jan 19, 2013, 07:07 PM USA/ET - Edit history (1)
It woke me up, not my SNOORING husband. The perp was trying to break into a basement window. I woke up my husband who ran for the closet to get and load his gun. We had a 2 year old at the time and could not leave a loaded gun in the nightstand.
I went to the window and pushed out the big metal window fan. I don't know whether he had a gun or not, but the sight and noise of the fan hitting the concrete below was enough to make him run. This happened faster than my husband could get and load his gun.
We have owned homes since 1974 in Queens, Long Island, and two differenent places in Florida. We only had ONE attempted breakin in what amounts to a generation. This does not include the time growing up, or living alone, which nothing ever happened.

You go ahead and play roulette with your life. I'll take my chances with having my gun in the house and my ability to use it.

This happened in a suburb of Philadelphia. Kind of a rural area........normally thought of as a "safe area".
And this one the invaders had weapons.

True story, DUmmy....
My mom's best friend (whose legs were amputed due to flesh eating bacteria, and is now wheelchair bound) and her husband (retired professor) lived in a gated commnity east Texas.
Someone had adopted a 17 y.o., and this 17 y.o. shot the husband in the head and stabbed the wife something like 20 times and left her for dead.
It can happen anywhere, anytime.
Out of respect for them, I won't link the story here.
-
I'm not fearful of a Home invasion and would be very surprised if anyone tried to break into my house while I was here.
88 (81%)
So does that mean that 81% of DUmmies dont lock their doors? that sounds like Canada where people have had their house broken into 5 times and still dont lock their doors.

Not only am I a black belt, I have guns. One on one, I'm not afraid of shit. 4 on one is a different story...

19. I have guns because I'm too lazy to get rid of them
I amnot afraid of home invasion, I am not afraid of beingrobbed on the street.
I am not delusional enough to believe I will wake up at 2am after hearing a door being kicked-in and be oriented enough to retrieve my firearm, and defend myself and my wife without shooting my own foot off.
combat shooting is way different from gunrange paper target shooting under good lighting conditions.
Perfect dumbass.
Do all home invasions happen at 2 a.m.?

34. If a home invasion is not within the realm of possibility, are you deceased? nt
Don't try to reason with the misfits of the island. They live in a utopian bubble of entitlement. Reality is too scary a place for them.
-
I would have to think DUmp denizens and their ilk, with all their various and sundry stashes would be more prone to home invasion than good and decent people, jus sayin. :whistling:

Some times there are random home invasions, We have had a few in N.H. where the home owners and family members either died or were hacked up very bad. Most took place in SAFE areas one where a neighbor could not hear the screams. Little to steal for the invaders, and chosen on the realestate mantra, location, location.
Unfortunately an innocent family will have a bad ass relative, child, brother or cousin and the Beasts come looking for them, the family may not have any idea what their family has been up to. No idea their home may become a blood bath from strangers.
Work places can become the target of a unhappy employee or an employees ex that goes Postal. No place is safe from human nature.
Road rage, ETC. Even with an armed escort Presidents are as Kennedy and Reagan found out cannot be safe all the time.
Home is where we believe we are secure, however even with high tec alarm systems in a black out or extreme storm we cannot depend on anyone but ourselves for protection. This is why for centuries humans have kept dogs, clubs, knives and guns for emergency's.
This poster is setting themself to become a victim at sometime in their lives.

Eh, aren't all people surprised if their homes are being broken into? I've never heard of a home invader making an appointment.

I wonder if there are unicorns in the yard?
Typical lefty, condemn anyone that doesn't agree with their line of thinking. Freedom of choice is OK with them as long as they approve of the choice you made. I don't wish this person any harm, but a home invasion or two might change their mind, but then again it is a DUmmy! :mental:

Dandi, I'm kinda surprised that you didn't pick up on this . . . well, kinda surprised that no one did.
Maybe the reason that the place that is highlighted is "peaceful" and "heavenly," and "a home invasion is not within the realm of possibility," is because they're in a loony bin. Occam's Razor and all . . . :whistling:

Dear DUmmies,
Google the terms, "Mont Vernon", "home invasion", and "Steven Spader", and then tell me guns aren't necessary in a "peaceful, heavenly place" you retards.
-
I don't really fear a home invasion now, though I remain ready to deal with one if it happens. When we lived in a scarier neighborhood, I slept with a loaded gun and a lead pipe between my waterbed mattress and frame. I never needed to use it, the only time anyone broke into our house, we were gone...but I would have been a lousy parent if I had not been prepared to protect my children to the best of my ability. I guess the DUmmies don't really care about their children, the few that they didn't murder before birth.

No place is peacefull and heavenly unless you are dead.
Florida [where else] a 23 year old woman in a semi comma sent to a nursing home. She who could not speak or move but could communicate with eye movements turned up Pregnant. Tracked by DNA a male nurse told the court she did not resist.
Safe my butt, even the Loony Bin can become one of the most violent places, in VA. not that long ago corporal punishments was allowed against patients of any age.
The book, The White House written by former inmate survivors tells of a campus for male delinquents to get them back into society. The White House refers to a place where boys as young as 8 years old taken to be disciplined for disobeying the rules, perhaps peeing their bed from fright or caught masterbating in a bathroom for the older children.
So far there are two areas separate from each that have so far been found, One holds 50+ graves of the black children buried one on top of the other and another site for the white boys also buried one atop each other.
From the photos of the place it looks like any college, clean mowed lawns, well kept streets. Quite the book, B&N carries it. I was given the book to read and gave it back to the giver before I thought to get the authors name or publisher.

Armed home invasions happen here a couple of times or more every week......on the Obama side of town. Doesn't happen but once in a great while outside of there.....and that's usually drugsters/thugsters breaking into someones home that they know or have done drug business with.
I'm not afraid because I don't fool with those kinds of people but just in case they get the wrong house, I'm ready.

Well said, even the police have been known to storm the wrong place, wrong address. My bitch is with the family where the police stormed in with no identification and the home owner shot one. No reason for the the cop to have died had the people giving orders double checked their information. No reason for the home owner to have died for defending his life. BTW, the homeowner was himself a cop, undercover, what a bag of worms.
Then the deaf 80 year old Minister when the police had the wrong address and came charging in, the Minister was deaf and when he in shock did not understand orders given to him was shot dead. [Boston]
A huge responsibility owning a weapon for self defence. Sometimes it is better to do as a woman in Georgia did with a home invasion and swing and conk out the villians with a cast iron frying pan she was frying up chicken in.

41. Could be your location on a busy road attracts folks who see an easy target.
To get to my little spot, they would have to find me first, cross a moat and then figure out how to get back to wherever they came from. A home invasion by anything other than mice or an occasional wild bird is the least of my worries.
This DUmmy doesn't have to worry about a home invasion--it sounds like maybe rgbecker lives in a castle with a moat.

Ugh....
I don't even know what to say...
Form what I have watched and read since Newton CT. They are again trying to control the arguement like they have done with so many other issues.
They are making conservatives out to be crazy gun nuts who fear home invasions and government tyranny and in turn turning around and selling that to the american people.
I want to write more but can't think of the right words.
I guess the one that pops in my head is Demagogue.

rgbecker might be surprised to learn that some spectacularly-horrific crimes have been perpetrated in very similar circumstances, one a couple of counties to my north about 12 years ago which was essentially random.

Madera pharmacy owners survive shooting, 1 arrested (http://abclocal.go.com/kfsn/story?section=news/local&id=8948286)
The second suspect in a deadly shooting has been arrested in Southeast Fresno. He's accused of trying to kill a Madera pharmacy owner and his mother.
DUmmies would rather have this man and his mother die than own a gun to protect themselves. Disarming the criminals might hurt their feelings.

A friend of one of my facebook friends posted that she would have just called the police and waited for them to protect her.
I told her that was a great idea and maybe she could offer the bad guy a cup of coffee while he patiently waits for the cops to get there. :-)

The cops are there to remove the dead bodies after a shooting. Ask her which one she'd rather be.
JFK had plenty of security. He's still dead.

Most people I know have become pro-2a after a home invasion. Nothing like feeling violated on your own turf. DUmmies are either lying or just plain stupid.

Good for you rgbecker primitive! I encourage you to stick with your principles, and put one of these signs in your front yard. Yes, they are, and yes, they are.
DUmmies don't feel "violated on their own turf", because they have NOTHING that's theirs to begin with.
"Their stuff" was once OURS, so why would they feel the need to protect it.
Therefore, if someone steals all their "free stuff", they get the government to get them more "free stuff". :argh:

I don't remember the name of the man that survived a home invasion but I bet he wished he did have some kind of gun when some evil SOB's broke into his house and held his family hostage while he and one of them went to the bank to drain their accounts, The rest raped and beat his wife and daughters then set them on fire along with the house. Yeah tell me not having a gun is so much more superior then watching your family die.
-
Of course the DUmmies aren't worried about home invasions. Burglars don't want to take empty Cheetos bags that make up the majority of DUmmie possissions and they can't get into the gated communities that DUmmies like kpete and calpig live in.
-
Most DUmbasses simply thing no one is trying to take guns away from anyone, just reduce magzine capacity and other media hype.
Of course, if they look at a few of the attempted state laws (like IL) there are people that are trying to get you to turn in your guns, or at least parts of your guns.

Were these not the men that invaded a home, held the young girls as hostage as their mother was sent to the bank to make a money with drawrel. Mother tried to tell the bank what was going on and police were informed. She came home with the money and her husband came in to be hit with bats and thrown into the cellar left for dead?
Mean while these two out on parole tied the teens to their bed , raped then and poured gasoline on them and set them alive on fire.
One can have a home security system but when grabbed outside the house and forced at knife point to let them in, shut down the security system and one or more intruders, for a woman, or a man that is a death sentence.
It is the action of surprise the monsters act on, when their target is most comfortable and at ease that the Boggy man jumps out to get them. They depend on the victim to not expect them, to go into shock or to relent to them. They depend on the victims to not fight back due to things that are going on that above their understanding.
Takes a minute or so for a person awoken from a deep sleep to understand what is going on, its the boggy man come to rob you and you have all this gonging through your mind at a speed that is slower then a bullet.

Thanks Sparky. I can't imagine what that guy is dealing with even this long after it happened but it's got to be tearing him apart.
