Dreamliner Forced Into Emergency Landing
Dreamliner Forced Into Emergency Landing
A Boeing 787 Dreamliner has made an emergency landing in Japan after smoke appeared in the cabin, according to reports.
Public broadcaster NHK said the aircraft, operated by All Nippon Airways Co, made the landing in Takamatsu in western Japan.
All passengers on board were evacuated it said. The plane was heading for Haneda Airport in Tokyo.
Another union-made disaster. (http://www.democraticunderground.com/10022198401)
The engineers are UNION assholes, and the ASSEMBLY workers are UNION assholes.
So this turdburger of a plane is a UNION FAILURE, and therefore another thing for you DUmmy assholes to OWN.

Most of the problems are related to sub-contractors, not the design of the aircraft.
Kind of a shame. It's a neat airplane.

I have been an Electro/Optic Engineer for 25yrs and I have never heard of an Engineer union.

Though I do have to say that I believe that most of the problems with the 787 are union related, though probably not in the manner that the OP is suggesting. The primary 787 assembly plant was located in South Carolina specifically to get away from the choking costs of unionized labor in the Seattle area. So outside of the first few units delivered, the 787 really doesn't qualify as a "union-made" machine, which is why I think this is hyperventilating and bloviating over nothing.
Most new aircraft go through teething pains similar to what we're seeing out of the 787 news stories. 99% of the time those teething pains in other aircraft, if they make the news at all, would be reported as "[insert aircraft type here] diverted back to [insert airport here] due to mechanical difficulties. No injuries, and the passengers were loaded into another plane with minimal delays", but now that we have an airplane which GORES a leftist's sacred cow (union labor), we have leftists in the news media playing up every little thing with phrases like, "the TROUBLED Dreamliner..."" and the like.
If I still flew commercial aircraft, I'd have no problem or reservations taking a ride on a 787, and I used to do "damage control" engineering at the Boeing Everett plant (where this plane evidently rolled out).

Do you know if they are Exempt or are they considered non-exempt employees?
Being in an Engineering union at Northrop would have prevented a lot of grief for me as I have been grieved by the union scum more than I can count.

As unions go, SPEEA is probably one of the most ineffectual ones in existence, in terms of what it's capable of generating for the rank-and-file members. (Ask me about my $400 coffee mug sometime. :whatever: )

The Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA), IFPTE Local 2001, is a professional aerospace labor union representing 25,000 engineers, technical workers, pilots and other professionals in the aerospace industry. Presently, our union represents employees at The Boeing Company, Spirit AeroSystems, BAE Systems and Triumph Composite Systems. Members work in Washington, Kansas, Oregon, Utah, Texas and California.
How did Northrop Grumman luck out on this? That may be why I have never heard of this.

Every engineer that works for the state is unionized.

I would not put it past a few union sympathizers working at the non-union plant to do a little sabotage.

No, it's a component design issue. Nothing more.

Yes those strange coincidences seem to happen at just the right time.

Many years ago during a union strike, some idiot shot a dynamite truck......and yes, it blew up.

Sometimes individuals and groups just naturally draw suspicion to themselves by their attitudes and behavioral history. The question shifts from "...why..." to "...why not...".

New airplanes are going to have problems as things will be ironed out.

They all probably spent too much time sitting on Algore's mom's lap while she sang , "Look for the union label".

I can't think of one that hasn't. A different matter if you're just modifying an existing model into a distinctly separate model/type.

All (6) 87's here, are down for load testing of the batteries.
May be back up tomorrow.
-
In the off-hand chance, anyone is interested.
Battery test takes eight hours, out of aircraft.
Remove them wrong, there's a problem.
The process is standard troubleshooting.
It's a new and complex system.
Whether union or non-union, is really not an issue.
