Kansas considers a new red card for food stamps
Kansas officials are considering replacing the current benefits card for residents who get food stamps with a bright red one.
The current Vision cards have an artistic impression of a sunflower, while a prototype of the new card is red with the “Kansas Benefits Card†label.
The Kansas Department of Children and Families said the card would be replaced because the agency has a new vendor. However, Tawny Stottlemire of the Kansas Association of County Action Programs said the proposed redesign could return Kansas to an era when public assistance recipients were unnecessarily stigmatized.
The Vision cards were introduced in the 1990s to allow food stamp recipients to use a plastic card to buy food at stores and for people who get temporary cash assistance.

2. of course this is the kind of idea they think up in a place like Kansas
It will probably catch on in the rest of the backwards states down there. I'm surprised they don't make food stamp recipients wear bright prison like shirts with "Food Stamp Recipient #2356A" emblazoned on them in big letters.
You're probably asking yourself, "What would a professionally diagnosed lunatic think of this idea?"
Here's your answer!

3. Oh. We're really into stigmatization and beating people when they 're down in this country.
Trust me, I've learned a lot about the topic of stigma in five months. More than I ever cared to. A real eye opener.
As someone diagnosed bipolar, I found people, even healthcare workers, treated me like I am stupid, didn't understand topic x, so couldn't make a valid choice about my life.
The poor no doubt get the lazy and worthless message. A real disgrace.

5. I wonder how obvious and humiliating Sam can make things for some people before the people who vote for him wake the **** up about his true character and intentions?
I find this behavior beyond anything anyone with any decency could abide let alone support.

6. And I wonder
how long it will be before the Democrats in Kansas have a candidate to run against Sam. At this point, it looks like the election is theirs to lose.
Anne Pritchett would be a good democrat candidate for governor.
As a former (undeserved) DUmmy of the Year, she's no stranger to high office.

Does the red card get you free food that others had to pay for? Then use it and shut up.
.
-
Yet it is perfectly ok to publish the identity and home address of gun owners. The irony is strong.
-
The new government platinum credit card will be red......like the government we've got.

Isn't the professionally diagnosed lunatic the one who makes "bad choices" on credit card use? Perhaps those professional healthcare workers have a point there.
-
The Denninmi primitive- he with credit cards with five digit limits that start with a numeral no less than 5- should buy some of these downtrodden souls their groceries. Instead the DUmmie showers himself with expensive impulse purchases like bicycles priced for the 1%ers.
So, DUmmie, the next time someone whips out their EBT card in the grocery store line do the charitable thing and pick up the tab. It's the progressive thing to do you selfish prick. Then, run to the DUmp and spin a bouncy about it. Your fellow DUmpmonkeys will ooze praise which may help your mental issues.

Damn good plan! I like it! Let's make it so.
-
I wonder if the bright red cards display a hammer & a sickle ? - I certainly hope so.
-
So let me get this straight. The DUmmies are focusing on the "color" of the card, not on the fact that someone that needs assistance and is receiving it? Talk about dog whistles, then again they aren't DUmmies for nothing.

Oh, the irony. OH, the irony.
Isn't if fun when those people around you decide they know what is best for YOUR life, overruling your own choices you would otherwise make?
FOAD, Anne. And by the way, I'm much younger than you are, so at least I can look forward to the death panels dealing with you first, you stupid bitch.

Don't like being publicly identified as a professional leech, DUmmies?
Get a job and you won't have to worry about it.

At least we can be found at our addresses unlike the 19,000 missing Massachusetts EBT recipients receiving benefits from god knows where. Florida most likely.

^5...I totally agree!!
-
There damn well should be a stigma for getting something for nothing.
The fact that you know this and mewl about it proves its necessity.
-
I'm sure there are no red credit or debit cards anywhere...

::)
I'm not happy that my kid is on food stamps right now, since she moved out and can't find a job in this wonderful O-conomy...but I can guarantee she doesn't care what color the card is, she's just happy she can feed her kids. ::)

Beat me to it.

I stopped in a an Aldi today to pick up some walnuts. The welfare queen in front of me had a cart overflowing with food. When it was all said and done, she had to pay 76 cents out of pocket cash. It seems that she couldn't get the paper bags on food stamps.
-
Maybe just maybe the color red stands for the debt incurred to provide this benefit ? Oh there I go thinking only about my self. :thatsright:
I should pay more taxes to the government and be happy I'm being patriotic. :whatever:

Did you see what she did to get the 25 cents for the grocery cart?
On second thought; never mind, I don't want to know.

I can tell who they are just by watching them in the aisle at the grocery store. They never look at the price, buy brand name, etc. Always have a full buggy.
Then at the check out, they always separate the beer, cigs, etc. They pay cash for that.

I have a Denny's just a few miles from me that I frequent.
A while back, they put up a sign that said they accept EBT.
Kinda bugged me at first. I got over it.
I can not deny the pleasure of a man or woman, the pleasure of taking their kids out to dinner.
A majority are hard working people that need help.
The minority are lazy lazy whiney neer-do-wells that demand we pay their way.
I'll be more than happy to give the working man a hand.
I'll more than happy to give the non-working man a hand, too, however, he wouldn't like it.
