Surgeons: Man's 'Tumor' Turned Out to Be 25-Year-Old Towel

Surgeons in Japan thought they were removing a tumor from a 49-year-old man who was suffering from abdominal pain.
Instead, they found a 25-year-old surgical towel inside of him that had crumpled into what looked like a softball-shaped tumor, Agence France-Presse reports.
The patient had apparently been carrying the cloth since 1983, when surgeons left it in him after minor ulcer surgery.
The went to Asahi General Hospital in late May after suffering pain. Doctors, at the time, found what was believed to be an eight-centimeter tumor.
"The towel was greenish blue although we are not sure about its original color," the Asahi General Hospital spokesman said.

I hope the doctor and hospital who did the original surgery like this guy, since he will soon be their new boss.

...cause he'll be ragging on them for some time. :rimshot:

This one time, a doctor accidently left in a sponge after a similar surgery. Sure, I feel fine, but boy, do I get thirsty!

why is this such an item of interest? this is just such an odd thing to include in the story, and an even more odd thing for the spokesman to say . . . .

Well, after that whole thing with Rachael Ray, maybe they wanted to make it clear it wasn't paisley.
