I thought about putting this in the Second Amendment forum, but, I think that it really should go into the GD forum. Mods, if you feel otherwise, please move it.
The American Revolutionary War of 2013
posted on January 11, 2013 by da Tagliare
I read political articles and commentary all the time. Most are quite liberal, some moderate and a few conservative. I read the different sides and opinions on the same topics and in the past few days, I’ve had an overwhelming sense 2013 just might be the year of the next American Revolutionary War.
One political commentator has suggested that poor people might start to riot and rebel against the government demanding more handouts. He points our attention to what took place in Argentina this past December.
Argentina’s President Christina Kirchner has spent billions of dollars assisting the poorer people of her country. They have provided free health care and many other benefits for them. In their struggling economy, activists convinced the people that they were entitled to more than what the government was giving them. They got to people to believe that they should receive free food and more, so they rioted, blocked the entrances to grocery stores and began looting the city of Rosario. Two people were killed and 137 arrested. Local news showed video of men, women and children hauling away food, televisions and even refrigerators.
The commentator then asks the question if America’s poor might do the same and goes so far as to suggest the possibility of a revolution. But I don’t think America’s poor has the where-with-all to stage a revolution against the government.
However, there is a very large number of Americans that do have the where-with-all to stage a revolution and if Obama and Biden continue as they have been this past couple of weeks that revolution could very easily erupt this year. Both Obama and Biden have made no secret of their intent to ignore the Second Amendment of the US Constitution and begin banning all kinds of guns, ammunition and clips.

Heady stuff, but I thnk that we're rather close to a flash point. Once it starts, it will be terrible.

I don't see it...on the one side, we are already providing vast benefits, such as free food, and 'Poor' in Argentina is a whole different thing than 'Poor' in America. It could play out the same way here, but we are years away from reaching any such flashpoint. On the other end of the spectrum, they people who the writer believes do have the wherewithal are heavily invested in the existing Constitution and commercial life, both of which would be sacrificed if they initiated such an event; it would require a truly broad totalitarian grab for power by the present Oministration, like dissolving Congress or suspending elections, something that could not be redressed by impeachment or for which redress was prevented or frustrated by a corruptly-partisan Senate, to upset that order.
