So...I am losing my food stamps next month...
After being unemployed for 4+ years, attending their classes to find a job and not finding one, they are pulling my food stamps unless I attend more classes. I would do that except I no longer have a vehicle and walking 11 miles to the office is too much for my lyme arthritis and no one wants to shuttle me back and forth. They have their own lives and own troubles. I am at my wit's end. Sorry...just needed to unload.
Covers a lot in such a short tale of woe.

If you were to post your area there might be a DUer who would help you out, if you were close to me I probably could occasionally, although I have to borrow a car I do have access to one from time to time.

Things are bad in this country, but if you are incapacitated there's probably some help you can receive.
You can talk to your church pastor or priest too. There is help out there.

According to my caseworker, it's not her problem I have no ride. Some of those folks are really rude. I used to work Missouri Job and Family Services several years ago and I always felt for the people that came in. Compassion seems to be lacking of late in many places.
Sure you did. Compassion and reference to a unionized state position shouldn't be used in the same sentence.

check around. Locally, we have a senior center which will give rides to folks. It's primarily for seniors, but for $2.00, I can call and get a ride anywhere locally if I really need it.
It's called DialARide here. Perhaps they have something similar there?
Check with your local food banks and churches. They usually know all the local helping hand organizations.
Contact the Las Vegas Leviathan. He can offer some insight to dial-a-ride.

I am going to go out on a limb (a very short one, mind you) and guess that you voted demoshit because they told you Romney/Ryan were going to take away your sit-on-your-ass entitlements as soon as they were sworn in. Anyway, had you used the tiniest bit of God given intelligence and your internet connection for something other than bitching on DU, you would have discovered that Romney/Ryan were more interested in trying to save these programs instead of getting rid of them. Treatment of Lyme arthritis.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE:
To test treatment regimens for Lyme arthritis.
METHODS:
Patients were randomly assigned to treatment with doxycycline or amoxicillin plus probenecid for 30 days. Patients who had persistent arthritis for at least 3 months after treatment with oral antibiotics or parenteral penicillin were given intravenous ceftriaxone for 2 weeks.
RESULTS:
Eighteen of the 20 patients treated with doxycycline and 16 of the 18 patients who completed the amoxicillin regimen had resolution of the arthritis within 1-3 months after study entry. However, neuroborreliosis later developed in 5 patients, 4 of whom had received the amoxicillin regimen. Of 16 patients (2 from the oral antibiotic study and 14 additional patients) who had persistent arthritis despite previous oral antibiotics or parenteral penicillin, none had resolution of the arthritis within 3 months after ceftriaxone therapy. The HLA-DR4 specificity and OspA reactivity were associated with a lack of response.
CONCLUSION:
Lyme arthritis can usually be treated successfully with oral antibiotics, but patients may still develop neuroborreliosis. Patients with certain genetic and immune markers may have persistent arthritis despite treatment with oral or intravenous antibiotics.

Compassion wanes when your problem is no longer unique. Obama has put some many people on food stamps that your just another recipient in a sea of recipients.

I have worked with people that ride their bycycles to work and home again in -1 degree weather, Summer floods and thunder storms, up hill both ways. These are not young kids but middle aged men and woman.
This poster has a phone and a PC, why not do business on line instead of doing it in person ? They can file for disability, file their taxes and pay bills on line, even buy food on line at local grocery stores and every 2 weeks have someone pick it up for her.
I bet when she runs out of cigarettes and beer she has no problem hoofing it up to a near by store.

The person lived in a Union state. a non right to work place. When the Company moved out of state the workers could not go with the company and were stuck with working with company's that took a chunk out of their pay check just to allow them to work. If they were hiring. Few leave a Union job unless they retire.
To take a $5.00 an hour cut in pay with no Representative to protect their job was impossible for them.
The workers were so use to job security they had no idea that the Federal laws and OSHA covered them as much for free as the Unions did and sometimes better. No retirement but that was up to the workers to get a 401K or savings bonds.
The right to work states are seeing a big influx of industry moving in, a way of life that Union States do not have. Come to work on time every day, do your job and you have a job. Don't show up or slack off, then you are out the door.
Example I worked with a woman woman that was in an accident. She spent 2 weeks in the hospital, she was fired for not coming to work or calling in.
She took this to the labor board and her lawyer had subpoenaed her hospital records. Company claimed she never conacted them, nurses notes said the hospital did in fact call them and had the name of the person that took the phone calls. Result was she was paid by the company for legal bills, the medical insurance bills cut off after she was fired and she drove off in a new car.
She had no use for a Union, the State and Federal Government covered her.

Going hungry is a great incentive. If I was too lazy to work, I would not be so lazy as to skip the classes I need to get food stamps.
How lazy can you be? Even the Las Vegas Leviathan understood the importance of food stamps. He moved heaven and earth to get them back. But this DUmmy? Nope. He's scoping out the Christian charities.
I used to go to a church that was hit pretty hard by DUmmy scam artists. Now they only give food to specific charities that help the homeless. They hated to turn people away, but it was the only way to keep from going broke.
--I don't think that church is alone either. It's gonna be a lot more difficult for this lazy bum to eat on a regular basis in these days.
