I need help to identify/name this particular Italian thing:
It's like a huge pizza pop perogy shape and the name starts with a P and is about 3 or 4 syllables.
Reason I ask is because I was cleaning out one of my neglected cupboards and found this zip lock bag full of those perogy maker things in all kinds of sizes. Those things where you place a round of dough, drop the filling then close it to seal. Well the hugest one would be perfect for what I am asking about.
It made me salivate thinking about it as a while ago there was a small Italian restaurant/bar near my home and they had the best rockin' P's ever and I want to give it a try.

1. Stromboli or Calzone?
Stromboli is stuffed with sausage, green peppers, onion, mozzarella, mushrooms, pepperoni, and ham
Calzone is stuffed with ricotta, mozzarella, and ham

2. I don't think so.
almost positive it started with a P.
And the dough is like a flakey bread dough deep fried, it's not soft pasta like dough. You can hold it in our hands to eat it and it's about 6 inches long and a perogy shape.

6. Glad you found it
I've never heard of Panzerotti. The local Italians make something called Pizza fritte, which sounds similar, but there is no filling. Sounds y***y.

7. There's also Sfincione
A Sicilian stuffed pizza.
The sparkling old dude would know, if he'd kindly show up.

Get whatever stuff you like whether it be onions, peppers, mushrooms etc and chop them up into tiny pieces.
Sauté in butter until brown, add some very lean burger and finish browning.
Stuff the damn things with that mixture and ricotta, put in a baking dish with lots of pasta sauce and grated cheese, cover and bake for an hour at 375.
Call it Ravioli when done.

It maybe a regional thing but I spent a year and a half in Italy and I don't recall anything by that name on any menu. I was stationed near Venice so like I said it may be something from another part of Italy.
