Title: Question about Reputation
Post by: Conservative Libertarian on December 28, 2012, 07:32:03 PM
I see on my posts "Reputation: +0/-0".

I assume that it is some way of being scored by other forum members.

I couldn't find anything on the help page about it. Please explain this.

I'll say this much.  Do NOT complain if someone gives you a "bitch slap".

When you get to 100 posts you can h5 or bs someone else,,,,
But the trick is not to take it seriously.bs usually calls for when another member says something stupid or irrelevant to thread.
some people(who will remain nameless) like to bs people cus they can.I like to know to know why people bs me, I take this karma shit waaaay too seriously .... We are a tough group!!!! I love everyone here though...

Once you've accumulated some more posts - the exact number doesn't come immediately to mind - you'll be able to "Hi-Five" or "Bitchslap" other members.

Don't take it too seriously though as complaining about bitchslaps is probably the best way to get more of them in a hurry.

If you ignore it, it isn't there.

Sometimes I use it as a short hand when someone makes a great point I give them a H-5. If someone asks why they got a BS, then I give them one of those.

Thanks All...I think. LOL!

It sounds like a lighter hearted version a voting system on an old forum I frequented in the late 90s. Each post had an encourage/discourage button which affected its priority on the board.

I've noticed that my reputation is now +3/-1. I guess that I got BS'ed for even asking about it. LOL! The adivce given earlier in this thread about even asking about it seems to work. LOL!

At this point, I'm just curious because I have never seen it before.

This sort of reminds me of something fun.  There was an old site called Slap Hillary where they had here spouting here usual feces. You could click a button and a hand would come out and slap her. That was fun.

Looks like somebody did the "turbo boost" combination when they slapped her, and gave the old sea cow a concussion!

Just a point of order for CL.  Unlike your old forum, where the encourage/discourage buttons affected the priority on the page, the H5/BS do absolutely nothing.

Except for one thread that was started at one time, entitled "Bitch Slappers Fess Up!"  I kept reading it as "Bitch Slapping Fees Go Up!"  I wondered if we were going to be presented with a bill.   :-)

Thanks. As I checked out the site, I could tell that was the case.
