. . . because, apparently, the old one is offensive to Native Americans. ::) So this is what this DUmmy comes up with:

Since the Atlanta Braves are again using their 'screaming savage' logo, I've created one of my own..
Introducing the Georgia Caucasians, MLB's newest team with a stereotype for a logo!

Story: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-league-stew/screaming-savage-makes-return-braves-batting-practice-caps-152538767--mlb.html47
the owner of that team is one of THEM. ::)
-
That pic looks like Jimma Carter's dead brother, Billy! :lmao:
-
Why are the Indians rarely ever quoted in stories of outrage aimed at the sports teams and their logos? Is it because most Indians don't give a shit about something so petty?
-
I call that racist, considering Atlanta is predominantly African-American.
-
It's crazy that the logo depicts your average rural democrat voter.
-
Why not simply, The Atlanta Democrats? Same glyph.
-
You know, I commented several times on that Yahoo! Sports column:
http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-league-stew/screaming-savage-makes-return-braves-batting-practice-caps-152538767--mlb.html
Out of the approximately 9,500 comments people made on that column, my first comment is BY FAR the Most Replied. As of now, it has received 275 replies, along with 3,663 thumbs up and 236 thumbs down. Here is what I wrote, which must have struck a chord with many:
As a Swedish-American, should I be upset that Minnesota's NFL team has an image of a Viking warrior? What about those of Greek ancestry and Michigan State's Spartan warrior? Or Turks and USC's Trojan warrior? Should the Irish be upset that Notre Dame characterizes their people as "Fighting"?
There is a long and understandable tradition of sports teams portraying themselves as fearsome warriors of various ethnicities. It's supposed to send the message, "We're tough guys. Don't mess with us." Teams don't call themselves, for example, the "Atlanta PC Wusses." That would not exactly inspire fear in the opponent.

My high school was the Indians, our chief rival was the Pirates. Years later the schools merged and are now called The Storm. Great name for a school in area that sees lots of tornadoes.

I think "Pirates" is offensive to Nautical Americans.
-
Well my High School for many many decades where the Rebels. Of course it's in Jackson, MS and mostly black now. They are now the Patriots.
-
Just west of me there is a school whose team name are the "Red Ants"
Up in Bad Dog's general area, there are the "Cotton Pickers"
There's also Tarpons, Greyhounds, Bulldogs, and Cardinals.
Our arena team is the Magic.
Not at all intimidating.
My favorite minor league team name is the Montgomery Biscuits.

Hey, you ****ing *****, I will GLADLY compare my education, experience, life travels, and all my possessions with yours. You game? You ****ing retard?

DAFUQ! How old are you? 39 here. You are referring to Forest Hill. I WENT to Forest Hill. Do we know each other?
...and yeah, now they're the "Patriots" because it's now a black school. The crime got out of control and the whites and decent blacks got the hell out of Dodge. They moved to Byram, Madison, Florence, Terry, Brandon, Pearl, Ridgeland, etc. Even Clinton is turning into a shithole.
-
"Yankees" is offensive to Naive Americans, since they have been yanked around so much by the Yankers.
-
As a Native Chicagoan, I am offended that my team is portrayed with the image of a cute little bear cub. It makes them look like a bunch of harmless "lovable losers" (which, unfortunately, in only all too accurate).

Yeah, well the politically-correct pu....pansies were the cause of my school's mascot, Colonel Reb, being turned into a Black Bear. That alone has me wanting to go to war to end this insanity.
-
There's also Tarpons. . . .
Offensive to Menstrual-Americans.
-
After reading this I remembered a group that was going to show white people how it felt by naming their team "the Fighting Whities". They figured it would cause outrage and put white folks in their place. It didn't work out like they planned. Instead of being outraged and insulted, white people found it hilarious.

The most interesting name for a HS team I found was in Poca, WV. Perky can verify this one for me.
Guess what they are called? You get 3 guesses, first 2 don't count! :lmao:

I live in an area prone to flooding. Our minor league baseball team is the Tides. :thatsright:

Are we supposed to be outraged by that cartoon? All you have to do is watch any adult cartoon on the Tee Vee and that is how southern white folks are portrayed. Haven't been any boycotts, riots or bitching and moaning about it.

Took me a while, but I thought I got it. Googled to verify. I was right.
ESPN called it the best sports name in the country.
