I don't believe her, but why is this her business?:

My faux pas at the Christmas gathering..
Last edited Fri Dec 28, 2012, 07:36 AM USA/ET - Edit history (2)

All the other presents were wrapped and under the tree. We were at our son & daughter-in-law's home along with the 50+ family members (hers)..

On top of a big box was this "bowling bag"..

I commented to our son:

Who bought Maria (his wife) a bowling bag?

I was shot an immediate glowering look from her sister..and some laughter from our son..

why?

She (the sister) and her fiance bought it in Paris last week and were too proud of it to wrap it.. The irony is that most of us thought it was a bowling bag..not a $2,350.00 designer handbag..

This is the "bowling bag"

I think she just wanted to brag:
 ::)

Oh yes, her.

She used to be more prominent than she is now.

An older middle-aged woman, maybe early 60s, chunky, stay-at-home housewife while hubby works in some industrial job, three adult sons, enjoys bowling and evenings out with the "girls."

What sort of idiot would mistake that handbag for a bowling bag.   :bs:  She wants to brag about how much her family spends on gifts.

It looks like a cyberman from the Dr Who series.

Well, maybe they can spend thousands on a goofy-looking purse, but do they have OnStar?

What a waste of leather.  Surprised that no DUmmies complained about the poor cows that gave their life for that old bag.

Me. It looks like they took the leftovers from a run and made the last ones.

The resemblance to bowling gear is remarkably strong, I must say, differing just in the fact that it's rectangular instead of a top-heavy trapezoid, and doesn't have a big zipper over the top and down the sides.  Amazing what people will buy, and for how much.

I'm just a dumbassed male or so I have been informed... frequently.  After 47 yrs on this earth I still ain't figured out womens and their accessories.  :fuelfire: :fuelfire:

But I ain't totally stupid now after 47 yrs! When "She Who is the Omnipotent One" breaks out her accoutrements and asks me my opinion I say "DAYUM!!!! THAT LOOKS GREAT!!!"

Then I retreat to my shop out back and drink beer.  Saves me money in the long run. No flowers, expensive dinners, jewelry, etc, and I get to see her naked every now and again. The one time I said that looks stupid, I didn't get to see her naked for a month of Sundays.   :-)

Don't get me wrong.  I'm not saying that it is a good looking handbag, but as far as I know, bowling bags tend to close all the way at the top, not have sides sticking up and out.

For example

Notice the smooth top the bag and the zipper that closes it nicely.

I have an aunt who is into couture handbags, and she has several that I think are ugly as sin.

The handbag was meant as a distraction.  They didn't want her to notice the 3 crockpots under the tree.

Yeah, I've never quite fathomed the need women have for overpriced "accessories".

The only exception to that is one watch I own that I bought about 15 years ago at the NEX.  I still wear it on nice occasions, but not to work.  That's where my $25 Timex Ironman comes in.  Wallet?  $30 leather wallet I've had for nearly 15 years as well.  Starting to get a bit worn, but works just fine.

Work clothes and boots are about the only things I don't scrimp on, particularly if I'm getting anything FR.

Boy are the ultra rich being taken with this.  Not only is this bag ugly but makes the Carrier a victim to a purse snatch or worse.

Same as flashing money in public, draws attention.    Rolex watches also do this as do $800 shoes or boots.

Not a good time to be wandering about advertising big money with chains of 24 k gold all over the neck or 2 k diamonds in the ears.

I could understand the bags if they were attractive or had another purpose as to have an area for a CCW compartment.  Perhaps a built in alarm system for theft or tracking device.

The wealthy are being taken big time when when a fad happens. Shoes for $1,220 bucks, so who looks at someones shoes unless they step on your foot.

Those with the money if they wish to spend $500 for a bottle of wine--good for them it's their money .  But I still think they are being taken as are the average person that spends $100 for 6 oz of perfume at the department stores.

Just long enough to take out a 4th mortgage on her "mansion" to order and overpay for some POS name bag where the knockoffs are better made.

Don't forget the 'cute' (read: ghey) sales clerk that she suddenly develops an longing for.

I used to enjoy Dr. Who, and like the classic series. The current series is, well...

An example would be their latest Christmas special. It stars a female Silurian, which is a reptilian species of underground Earth, who is "married" to a female human in
Victorian England. I can't even touch that with a 10-foot pole.

I rather liked the humor in the Christmas episode.

I've never understood the expensive-as-hell-purse deal.  I can find really nice ones at TJ Maxx for $30 and under.

Pam just exemplifies the typical liberal who thinks her income should be for her discretionary use only. Wonder what sob story awaits us about how she can't afford treatment? I wonder if the nurses ever thought to themselves wow that's a lot of purse for a destitute person.

This is funny and the purse she claims she has is typical of what a primitive would want.

My wife has a couple of purses by Coach.  She loves them, and in fact I got her one for Christmas.  If you look through their line they have many that are classy and elegant.  But then they have the ones with the "C" pattern all over the purse itself.  IOW, it's a "look at me and what I can afford" look.  Every woman who sees the "C" knows it's a Coach.  That's the type she claims she received.

Classic Pam.  It's not about beauty or functionality, it's about causing others to preceive she's something she's not.

Yep, this Christmas.
