1st Xmas without mom, 2 sick with tummy virus, Jr had to put his dog to sleep, etc

Vomit-inducing stomach virus a gut check throughout Midlands: http://www.omaha.com/article/20121221/LIVEWELL01/712219934

Mom always made Christmas special until the last few years. She past away in August. The last present she picked out for me last year sits on the fireplace hearth.

I was having a hard time getting in the swing. Picking out presents didn't have the usual joy. Christmas songs on the radio and watching our annual selection of Christmas videos has helped.

I volunteered to work Christmas Day for the first time in years so a single parent could be with her kids.

We changed our family get together when 2 different households got the virus. This is the first year ever it has just been Marta and I on Christmas Eve.

Jr. had to put his Mocha down late last week. No choice. She was a beagle. She is on their Christmas card.

It's good to know that bad things happen to bad people!

I feel sad for the dog.

So do I.

That dog wasn't put to sleep, it committed suicide!

I understand how he feels but its nothing to having to lay your father to rest just before Christmas and everyone in the family gets violently Ill from something similar and the weather on the day of my fathers funeral was -20 outside.

Ahhhh, makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside to see a DUmbass in such pain during the holidays. Too bad we can't have more of this kind of thing.

I'm sure that your union scale of double time + 8 had nothing to do with your decision.

I hear ya--three years since Dad passed away.  Also got divorced finalized within two weeks of him passing.  Talk about a shitty Christmas.

At least nobody got sick.  Oy.

It's amazing how much of their misery the DUmmies bring upon themselves.

It's been 11+ years since the ex decided to move out, 11 years tomorrow since I met the current (and forever, if she'll keep me) mrs. diesel, and although the holidays SUCKED to the Nth degree that year, since then, I've been the happiest I've ever been in my life!   :-)

I'll admit, I miss my ex, but my aim is improving.
