Loose lay flooring

Awhile back , I had stopped at a flooring store just for ideas. For now, I have just subfloor in my little kitchen and old carpeting in the adjoining living room. I saw on display Karndean Designflooring and right off thought that would work for me. It doesn't require gluing (expect in high traffic transition areas such as entry ways) and can be cut to fit with a razor knife.

It's expensive though at about $5 a square foot and I'm wondering if anyone here has experience with it.

1. No experience but I'm curious.

Is it real wood?

2. No, it's vinyl I think.

It's very flexible and the planks do not interlock so in case one does spill something on the flooring, it's very easy to take up, wipe off, hang to dry and put back down again.

3. i had vinyl planks in my AZ house

we went with a pergo style here but i loved that stuff in AZ. had texture so the dogs didn;t slide all over, and it wore like iron.

we had it for over 8 years and when we sold the house we only had to replace two planks directly in front of the doggie door

here it is when we sold the house, 8 years later. hubby and i installed over 900 sq feet of it in three days

after which two photographs

i did notice the same type product in Lowes the other day, we got ours at Costco IIRC in about 1999. peel and stick, cut with a utility knife, no fuss no muss.

<<<recently saw a photograph of this primitive, but don't remember details.

Why on earth would you need to have flooring you could remove and clean?  If you spill something, wipe it up.  Clean up in done in moments.

We have it at work.  This is the second place I've been that used it.

I think the primitive is a bit confused.  You do not have to pull it up, clean the strips, and hang to dry.  What a bother that would be.

The strips do interlock, and you do not have to glue-down across the whole room.  But liquids will not go beneath the flooring.  That would be horrid.  If one or a section become damaged, it is fairly simple to remove the damaged strips and replace.  Takes very little time.

Because this flooring is really durable, have a bit of "give" to it, is easily repaired and easy to clean, it is becoming popular in medical facilities.

Okay, that makes a lot more sense.  Thanks
