A fiscal cliff solution ...
Last edited Wed Dec 19, 2012, 09:54 PM USA/ET - Edit history (1)
Seems the Republicans want to play games ... I say bring it on. We're not powerless; we too, can play this game.
Why not show our disapproval by refusing to spend on non-essential items until the deal is done. We'll shut this Christmas down until the will of the majority is recognized. And if that doesn't do the trick ... Return what you've already bought on Jan. 2nd.
If they want all the money, we'd better save the little we've got. No budget deal ... no Christmas sales.

How many times has this been proposed? How many times has it worked?

1. Yeah, that'll work.
Good luck explaining that to your little kids on Christmas morning.
"I'm sorry, Timmy, Santa couldn't bring you the Xbox you wanted because the Republican Congress won't negotiate to arrive at a budget deal that raises revenue while preserving entitlements."
Go for it.

2. Just explain to your kids that the Grinch stole Christmas.
And make sure he knows the Grinch is the Republican party.

3. I wouldn't screw around with a fragile economy. It's mostly poor folks who get hurt.
I thought this was the bestest economy ever.

4. Bingo.
Don't buy any Christmas gifts. Then, who gets hurt the most (besides your sad little kids who didn't get a visit from Santa and don't understand why)? The minimum-wage worker at Target who was counting on the extra income for working the holiday season.
I'm sure a handful of moonbats will put Target out of business. :whatever:

These idiots were meant to be ruled.
They can neither earn or keep their own freedom.

They can neither earn or keep their own freedom.
The problem is they think we are as helpless as they are and that we need to be ruled too.
If they want to piss away their own freedoms then fine, just don't take our freedoms from us in the process.

It's a little late to start boycotting Christmas shopping. Effin' DUmmies.
-
A Not One Damn Dime Christmas Day!
This could be their most effective action since they didn't buy gasoline one day to teach BP a lesson after the Gulf oil spill.
The DUmmies really know how to stick it to the man.
-
The DUmmies I know would forget what they are not suppose to do before they forget to do it.

Having your enemy underestimate you is never a problem.

Said another way: "Wars begin when two sides disagree about the fundamental balance of power between them. Wars end when both sides agree on the fundamental balance of power between them."
Look how hard liberals attack when they feel their "rights" such as closed-shop laws are changed, look how fast they flooded the state capitals in Wisconsin, Indiana, and Michigan. They are organized in a way that we aren't. They have deep pockets. They could call on international support and probably get it.
They don't underestimate so much as misestmate us. (I don't think misestimate is a word, but I'm using it to describe an inaccurate assessment caused by false reading of data, as opposed to false data.)

It probably is a "Bushism."

Why not show our disapproval by refusing to spend on non-essential items until the deal is done.
Note to the lurkers:
Non-essential = Unfunded liabilities
Non-essential does NOT equate to defense spending. That is clearly outlined as an essential funcion of the government in the Constitution.
Fail on your part.

Most liberals are. The ones that aren't are the ones that'll rule. "Progressivism" is built for two classes, the ruling, and the ruled.

Pretty good, Reb. H5.

I've cut back in a lot of ways lately, but Christmas gifts is not one of the areas. More people are getting handmade gifts, but everybody gets something. The kids in the family are all getting something at least sort of cool.
-
Pretty good, Reb. H5.
I second that.
-
Let go over the cliff, it actually looks better that what either side is proposing.

Yo, eddie, slow down there a minute. How about we first demand that our elected "representatives" do their job (you know, what we elected them to do in the first place) and pass a budget....Something they haven't done since oblamo has been in office and something that shows what a weak leader he is by not getting a budget passed. Then we will have an idea what our expenses will be and how much we will need to pay for them. Until congress and the ochooma quit ****ing around and do what is required by law for them to do, then all this other fiscal cliff crap is just mental masturbation.
As for your idea of refusing to spend on non-essentials, I totally agree with you. As long as we keep the Troops supplied with beans and bullets, cut spending on everything else.

But then, what sane person would want to rule a bunch of lazy perpetual whiners who consider themselves too mentally elite to indulge in gainful employment...

I was thinking a new form of pop-up target for basic trainees.
