"Cheers" and "Frasier" star Kelsey Grammer suffered a mild heart attack on Saturday, his publicist Stan Rosenfield confirmed for FOXNews.com.

The actor, 53, was paddle boarding with his wife Camille at their Hawaiian home when he experienced symptoms, Rosenfield said. He was immediately taken to a local hospital.

He's expected to be released early this week.

God is certainly rattling the cage of the Entertainment Industry.

Prayers for him that he throws this off and sees it as a wake up call (like I did).

For those who didn't know, the character "Frasier" is the second longest continuous character in TV history.

Anyone willing to swear they didn't use imdb to find the longest continuous character?

I do like Kelsey Grammer.  I pray everything goes well for him.

(...but I don't know what to do with those IV poles and EKGs....they're beepin' again
....Gud'night, Hawaii!
....Kelsey has left the ER.)

I will!  I thinks it's Matt Dillion ('Gunsmoke') @ about 21 years.

Great exit lines!! :)

And, for those who don't know (and LU does), Mr. Grammer sang it.

It was called "Back to You"(which also starred Patricia Heaton), but the network pulled the plug on it, due to poor ratings.   :(

I think I read they are taking another shot at it.  Both Grammer and Keaton are very funny.

Hey anyone taken me up on my challenge on what character has outlasted "Frasier?"

From what I see, Grammer is already signed up for a sitcom called Roman's Empire (a BBC remake set for ABC), but I would love to see "Back to You" return.   I enjoyed that show very much.

Sorry, my sight isn't what it used to be.

Yes -- Grammer tied Arness, who is still, thankfully alive!

Now, the bonus round -- what actor in a currently-running series is in the longest role for a single character?

Ryan Seacrest as The Straight Man?

*I don't know.  I haven't kept up with TV in years.  I would guess someone on "ER" if I had to answer before the buzzer or get disqualified.

If he's still living and still on ATWT playing Dr. Bob Hughes, then yes, he is the answer to the question.  I remember him from when I was a little kid with a mother who watched ATWT religiously.  Bob Hughes was Lisa's (Eilene Fulton) first husband on the show.  He was kind and decent.  She was BUtterfield 8.
