Do not call it "Gun Control" - that is a loaded term. Instead, call it "Safety Legislation"
Gun Control sounds like Black helicopters and jack boots to too many.
"Safety Legislation" sounds smart, clear and homey.

This is one thing about progressives, they know they can't win on their ideas so they have to disguise their intents with terms that make it sound like it's a good thing. I don't care if they call it a happy fun bill, they are still trying to take a right from every citizen.

3. Excellent. Reframe the argument.
You can tell they know they are losing when they want to reframe the argument.
Seriously do they really believe if we only had one more law on the books that he would have said "Screw it there are too many laws" then went and got a slurpee instead? :mental:

Me....I kindda like the idea of a safety on my weapon.....but if the DUmmies want to outlaw safeties, I can live with that. :-)

Oh, good Lord. What children.
Hey, Tav. Let's make the same argument about drugs, junkie.

How about "Affordable Care Act"?

"Gun Control" is all about me keeping my unregistered handguns on target. (http://www.conservativecave.com/Smileys/default/tongue2.gif)

Call it using both hands.

Call it using both hands.
And a proper stance.

Well, maybe not so proper but they, ah screw it, there are chicks bent over. :naughty:

It is coming and it will be coming from the bully pulpit.
If you think that it's been hard to stand for the 2nd amendment before you ain't seen nothing yet.
They are coming and they are convinced they are loaded for bear. All of them.

Only if they can steam roll the house. We should be safe on the legislative end for 2 more years.

No, it sounds dumb and ambiguous.

2. Citizens Public Spaces Safety Legislation.
When I read that I envision a bill that stops bleeding heart liberal judges from shuffling and reshuffling repeat violent offenders through the criminal justice system. A bill that makes sure these criminal low-lifers are in the joint where they belong instead of repeatedly victimizing law-abiding citizens because "they deserve another chance".

3. Excellent. Reframe the argument.
You DUmmies love to play mind games with yourselves. If it makes you little tyrants feel better about taking away rights by changing the labeling go for it. I'm sure it will be catch on like wildfire- right up there with your other genius ideas such as "anti-choice" or "revenue enhancements". :whatever:

Back in the day, I did practice a lot of "GUN CONTROL"...... :naughty: :naughty:
-
Never mind the Second Amendment, never mind Congress. That asswipe desecrating the Oval Office will re-define various firearms with executive orders.
-
The Brady gang and their allies have been trying the safety schtick for years, it hasn't stuck as a replacement term for 'Gun control.' Everyone with any interest in the issue at all is used to the old term and the attempted renaming is too transparently same-shit/different-day to get real traction in the debate.
-
NBC just reported that two Republicans are re thinking their stance on gun control. They might not get more but we can't let them frame the arguments and get away with it. The media is playing it up with every chance they get and even Fox News has had some of their talking heads say that maybe it's time to look at the issue. The public that wants to keep their guns had better start getting ahead of this or we may have Clinton's gun ban back in force .
-
Unregistered and illegal weapons are going to go through the roof. I'm not saying that I would go that way but I don't see a reason not to.
-
I'm preparing for the worst on this, to be honest. Modern media wall-to-wall tragedy-whoring on any incident makes it very difficult for elected officials to stand up for anything on the basis of an abstract principle in the face of aggrieved victims' families and clamoring overwrought fanatics with the media spinning them both up into an emotional frenzy.
-
Airwolf is right.
We are going to loose this argument the same way we have been loosing every argument.
The blogosphere did not save us 2012 and it will not save us in this fight. If anyone knows how to beat the media at informing the mushy middle I am all ears.
Common sense is a useless weapon and if we go down that road we will loose on this issue to.
If anybody here thinks that we can get our argument out to the great unwashed masses I would like to hear an explanation how.

Just explain how "gun control" would disenfranchise this demographic and you are solid for a win:

Talk about Debbie Downers. I haven't seen any R's rolling over and selling us out yet. A couple NRA endorsed 'rat senators and usual gun grabbing suspects like Bloomberg, yeah, but no surprise there this close after the election. Maybe NRA will learn a lesson supporting these flip-floppers.
While at the federal level the election outcome was less than desirable things are much better at the state level. Gun rights and CCW have progressed greatly the past 10 years. Poll after poll has showed little support for increased gun control- almost as if the issue was laid to rest after the AWB was put into law and allowed to expire as it was a big waste of time and pretty much didn't change a damn thing. Gun control was a non-issue during the campaign and it's not as though the shootings started Nov. 7.
If 'rats want to burn their political capital fighting this battle let 'em shoot themselves in the feet. I don't think it's going anywhere. At least nothing substantial anyway.

Then I guess that would be two RINO's looking for a new job come election day. Obama didn't touch gun control in either election run up because it is considered political suicide for a presidential candidate. Now that he doesn't have to worry about re-election he would have no problem putting it back on the table.
Of course this tragedy happened in a state that the Brady Bunch has labeled as one of the best states for gun grabbing.

I apologize for being a pain but you mean lose and losing, not loose and loosing. :-)

I'm with you on this one. There are a hundred million guns in this country. Even about 30% of Democrats are gun owners. Go on, try to take them.
But there again, I never thought the Stupak clan would cave on pro-life, and hand us the worst legislation in this Country's history, ObamaCare.

I hereby title the wholesale slaughter of liberals to be the "Liberty Augmentation Act of 2012."

Yeah, we've got staunch Conservatives who will fight for the Second Amendment like John McCain in our corner, what could possibly go wrong?

California State Teachers' Retirement System owns 6% of Bushmaster (http://finance.fortune.cnn.com/2012/12/17/the-money-behind-the-massacre/?itjustkeepsgettingstranger)
Do you know who owns more than a 6% stake in the maker of .223 Bushmaster rifles, like the one used last Friday to murder 20 first graders and seven adults in Newtown, Connecticut? California public schoolteachers.
Fortune (http://finance.fortune.cnn.com/2012/12/17/the-money-behind-the-massacre/?itjustkeepsgettingstranger)
heh.

Damn good investment.
EDIT: Wait, I thought Bushmaster was bought out by another company? Heading to Yahoo. NM, it's now Windham and includes Remington and Bushmaster.

They were purchased by Cerebus, the same company that bought Chrysler.

How about we call it "dead on arrival" or "election game changer" instead? A lot more accurate than what you're suggesting, opiate freak.

Too much legal precedence in the wind for them to try and shut down the 2nd Amendment and States that are all too willing to give the Fed Gov the finger won't allow it. If the libs want to deficit spend political capital they don't have, let them. Before we exert energy to stop something that may not happen, why not get a better feel of what people (non federal politicians) are saying? Is the general discussion among actual citizens about taking away more rights or is it "how the frig do we keep the crazies from killing kids"? From what I have gleaned by listening to what is not said by media news readers, there are more questions being asked about why no one in the building had the ability to properly protect those children than how a mentally disturbed young man got the guns he used.
Even if any agree or disagree with what I say, it doesn't matter. Get off the computer and join an organization that you think will be the best vehicle to get your voice heard. Liberals have been drooling in anticipation of an event like this so they can bring back the Brady Bill. I say we do our damnedest to stop them with a unified voice.
