In DC? There's no Stand Your Ground law there, and gun possession is strictly regulated.
It's a safe, crime-free paradise.
But if you are talking about NRA lobbyists lobbying for policies that allow people like Adam Lanza to get guns,

The reason these children are dead is because the Republicans cut the school budgets across America, that prevents security measures being put in place. This is the extent of security, according to CNN.

Schools need fencing, cameras, ground sensors, few entry points using turn styles, everybody armed, armed security guards, safe vaults with communications, bullet proof glass & black shade windows.
