Oh my.
Taverner (50,858 posts) Tue Nov 20, 2012, 01:23 PM
IF god actually existed, I would hate him and fight him with every fiber of my being
Part genocidal maniac, part thought police.
Treats thinking about breaking a rule as bad as actually breaking the rule.
Kills his own son in an effort to prove he is always right.
Horrible at science, math and geography.
Horrible designer.
Cruel, vicious, and jealous.
Would rather a man have his daughters raped than have him have gay sex.
Afterlife a celestial North Korea, except you can't even die.
Says he loves us, but perfectly happy to torture us for infinity.
--------------------
Good thing god doesn't exist, or I'd have some serious work on my hands...
Too bad for the Taverner primitive.
God Is, and there's not a damned thing he can do about it.

5. If an omnipotent God existed
There would be no need to kill his own son or make any attempt to prove he is always right. God would be able to change your mind with a thought or simply will you out of existence. There would be no need for a being of such power to be angry or jealous as such a being could simply will the universe to suit its desires. If an omnipotent all powerful God did anything the Bible claims he did, it would be for shits and giggles rather than any need to benefit anyone or prove anything. Proof and need are kind of meaningless concepts for a being that has absolute power over everything in existence.

6. Well yeah, there's a million reasons why a God can't exist
Especially an omnipotent one
But the question always comes up - if it's THAT important, why would he show his face. No, not some prophet who took too many mushrooms, but from GOD himself.
That alone tells me there can't be one
Yeah, yeah. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.....

Has it ever occurred to you that maybe your life is a trainwreck because He knows this and either hates you right back (If He isn't the modern Christian conception of God), or he's going Old Testament on you to teach you a lesson (If He is).
Just wondering, Tavs. Think about it, preferably while on some extremely-paranoia-inducing drugs.

It's really sad I suppose.
All that is asked is faith and to try to live your life as best you can (my understanding as an agnostic).
But to be so antagonistic is just nonsensical, they don't know any more then I do.
As ChuckJ put it "There are no atheists in hell"
-
People like that only hate God for 2 reasons:
* when He doesn't give them everything they demand
* and when He does

I was going to say that Taverner just showed how vast his lack on knowledge is on the subject of God. Instead I'll just say: this is your brain on drugs.

This angst is less about unbelief and more about rebellion.
True atheists are cool with it. I believe--they don't: no big deal. They do not rage and rant about how unfair Hell is. True atheists don't care because they don't believe.
Atheists like Taverner are the ones who get upset about what a believer believes. Why should they care? The anger, rage, and hate can't be explained away by mere bigotry. No, I think they are rebelling against something they actually believe deep down inside.
In short: Taverner believes, he knows what he's done, and he trembles.

Taverner better hope that God isn't the one in the Old Testament. If Taverner had a epiphany and realized that he has been wrong about God, it would be too late. He's not the forgiving type.

Yep my boyfriends ex wife I would say fits into your theory on taverner as it relates to God. Immature rebellion and nothing more. They are also fool hearty to think they are the first geniuses ever to rebel against God so a hefty dose of arrogance is present as well.

We consider you less then nothing freak...imagine how God will deal with you.

Seems like the drug addled Taverner has God confused with any given Marxist.

Because liberals want to be God. They reject Him because they distort God to make Him rejectable. He's inconvenient to what they want. Then, when they make themselves God they adopt the only image they understand, the fiction they created. They feel entitled.

Ah, Taverner. So stupid, yet so stupid.

many chats with atheists before. They seem to believe that there belief is not a religion. Forced atheism in communistia countries proved the state Gods and atheism are definitely religion.

Taverer will someday find out that striking out at God is not the answer. He made his own Hell and only Taverner can seek redemption. He may never do it and that alone is Hell to live with.

 Wake me up when it gets interesting.

What is it that you handicapped half-wits have against the concept of free will? The freedom to do whatever you want comes with responsibility and consequence.

Take a look around you, drug-addled crap monkey.

And yet, he walks on God's earth, breathes God's air, eats God's food, looks upon God's nature and God's universe...he remains alive, not struck down by God. Is actually still loved by God, even as he chooses to hate the One that formed him in his mother's womb and knew him before he was conceived. Foolish, ignorant man. :(

Conviction of the heart, as it were.

The DUmp is probably the last place Taverner should go to try and talk himself out of, or into, believing in God.
DUmbass Taverner: If you don't believe, then embrace it and get on with your life. If you believe but you want God to be more like you, you'll be disappointed. If you don't know what you believe, take the time to learn, and adjust yourself accordingly.

If Taverner doesn't believe in God, why does he waste his time pondering all these points about God, composing them all into a mini-essay, and finally, bothering to post them at a site full of other self-professed atheists except for a few "Christians" who can't come up with much that they believe in the Bible?
It tells me he either isn't very firm in his (non)belief and is looking for validation, or he wants to tweak the few Christians that are on his own site. Either way, he seems to be pretty much an asshole.

Great insight. High 5.

Taverner and people like him always stumble over the concept of free will. God doesn't want humans to be robots, he already has plenty of those, he allows us choice, even knowing that some choices can, and will be, destructive to the person. Taverner is merely a case in point.
