It's A Wonderful Life is on TV

Old Man Potter, I swear, acts like a modern day Right Wing Republican…

He sounds like those rich Romney boosters who had it in for the President. A man who owns 99% of everything, yet grouses over the fact that he can't get his money grubbing hands on that last measly one per cent.

Damn, it must suck to be that miserable.

1. And Jimmy Stewart is still an asshole in this movie....really...can't you see it

Yep. He invests in the 47%.

Not a favorite.
I am a a Grinch fan and I always watch 'A Christmas Memory' with Geraldine Page. Truman Capote was very good writing Southern stories.

Before the mistake became president, It's A Wonderful Life would be on television several times in the weeks leading up to Christmas. Several different channels would run it a few times; and, if you wanted, you could watch it a few times before Christmas.

Now, if you even hear that it's going to air, you better watch it that time; because, if you don't, you won't get to see it at all. And they show it on a Saturday night, when fewer people are watching at all.

Makes me think there is some message in there, that they don't want anybody to see. And I haven't seen my favorite, The Bells of St. Mary's, in about five years.

Great description of Mr. Potter, by the way.

I see Potter as a George Soros character.

5. So, an evil corporate conspiracy is hiding the message by...showing the movie?

How utterly diabolical!

Or perhaps they're putting on with a frequency commensurate with the demand for the movie.

If I recall correctly, it was a conscious decision on the part of the network to only show 'It's a Wonderful Life' less often during the holiday season. NBC owns the rights to it, and decides how many times to show it.

As for 'The Bells of Saint Mary's' I have seen it on cable several times since Thanksgiving. Love that movie.

It cracks me up how these DUmmy buttholes can watch any movie and always have the interpretation that the bad guys are republicans and the good guys are democrats.  Incredibly, they even did this for the movie Lincoln in a stunning display of stupidity.

When The Ten Commandments is shown I suppose that some DUmmy is going to make a post saying that Yul Brenner as Rameses is a rethuglican and Charlton Heston as Moses is a democrat.

That will say Charlton Heston is a dead gun pusher who was a shill for the NRA. They will never miss an opportunity to promote gun control.

The first person I thought of as Potter was John D. (Jay) Rockefeller IV, DEMONRAT Senator from WV.

Soros was a close second.  To me, both represented the over-reaching, over-bearing, ever-GREEDY government wanting to control EVERYTHING, even to the point of outright theft.

George Bailey was the typical small business owner trying to survive and navigate the minefield of rules, regulations, and general bureaucracy of just keeping his doors open.  (Do you actually think a dimrat would have used $2,000 of his own money to keep his business afloat, or use it to go on his honeymoon?)

The part where Bailey is shown how things would have been had he not been born bears a striking resemblance to Detroit, don't you think.  Just like everything else government and dimrats touch, it turns to SHIT!

It states in the movie that "on VE-Day, they wept and prayed, and on VJ-Day, they wept and prayed" is further proof Bailey was NO dimrat.

Points the DUmmies missed in the movie:
George and Mary had 4 kids.  Overpopulation?  Women being denied birth control?  No access to abortion?  Evil husband keeping woman at home, in the kitchen, barefoot and pregnant?
George being 4-F, unable to serve in the war.  Draft dodger?  He also smoked a pipe.  Second-hand smoke anyone, around his CHILDREN!!!!!
Uncle Billy drank a lot, and had trouble remembering things.  Alcoholic?  Alzheimer's? Shouldn't he be on disability?

As usual, DUmmies look at things thru their asses, and get it backwards.

Fannie Mae, Freddy Mac, Bonnie Fwank, Chris Dodd and Chuck Shrummer put George Bailey and the small town Savings and Loan out of business.

....and Mr. Potter can't hold a light to thieving democrats.

And yet Jimmy Stewart was a very conservative individual, before such a person was ostracized in Hollywood, to the point he actually got into a fist fight with Henry Fonda once.

Yeah, I don't think he'd appreciate you calling him a liberal, DUmmies.

I doubt that you will be able to rewrite the meaning behind this movie, primitive.

Mr. Potter was the corrupt corporate capitalist that DU loves to rant about.  Remember the scene where the Senator came to see Potter?  Potter told him to wait as if he was an underling, and the senator did.  George Bailey couldn't even get the bank examiner to give him a day to come up with the money, he was going to jail if he didn't have the oney right then.  George Bailey believed in the little guy that was willing to try, that is a Republican trait.

The revision here is just asinine. I'd agree with others here that Potter resembles George Soros more than ayone else. He's not really motvated by a desire to make more money; It's power that he's mainly after, being able to control every aspect of the lives of the people in Bedford Falls from cradle to grave, much like the liberal big- government types. That was why he wanted to destroy the Bailey Building and Loan, because it enabled the people of Bedford Falls to escape from Potter's control (Especially in terms of what kinds of housing they lived in), and that's why in the alternate reality, Bedford Falls is renamed "Pottersville."
If George Bailey were a real person, the DUmmies would hate him. They'd dismiss him as an ignorant small- town redneck standing in the way of progress (They'd probably also call him a chickenhawk for helping with and supporting the war effort while not actually serving in the military, and make fun of his voice just for the heck of it), yell at and insult Mary for having so many children rather than aborting all of them, and call Harry a "War Criminal" to his face.

And they would hate George for saving his brother who was decorated in an act of military worship for having killed brown-skinned people to defend a troop transport filled with MICs imperialist baby-killers.

I'm pretty sure Mr. Potter was a progressive.

He hated free enterprise and he wanted everyone to live in his slums.

And he used ethnic slurs on the people he didn't like George Bailey helping out of his progressive plantation.
