Title: Late to the nominating party?
Post by: Charles Henrickson on December 01, 2012, 11:53:21 PM
Frank, when I saw that nominations ran through December 1, I thought I would be able to get mine in tonight. I was busy all day up until a little while ago. But, lo and behold, I now discover that the nomnations thread is locked.

I was going to nominate at least the folks who appeared twice this year as featured stars in my DUmmie FUnnies, i.e.:

WilliamPitt: "It just occurred to me: Cindy Sheehan was the first #Occupier."
WilliamPitt: "TAKE A PICTURE. WRITE IT DOWN. REMEMBER WHERE YOU WERE WHEN YOU READ THIS."

TheMastersNemesis: "I Will Not Aid A Republican"
TheMastersNemesis: "I Guess I Am A Communist But I Am Proud Of It"

nadinbrzezinski: "Yay!!!! I am now starless!!!!!"
nadinbrzezinski: "WORKERS TO STAGE WALK OUTS AT WALMART STORES ON BLACK FRIDAY"

Speaking of Nadin, I would also like to nominate as a collective DOTY:

Nadin's Fanboys: SidDithers, zappaman, and any others who consistently showed up on Nadin's threads to give her a hard time.  I don't know if they would also be considered "The Bullies."

I would also like to nominate for the "Rob," the FUnniest DUmmie, none other than the aforementioned . . . SidDithers.  He is the wittiest of the bunch.

For the Willie: Skinner. I don't think the Head DUmmie himself has won this yet.

In my time zone it is still December 1, so I fall on the mercy of the court and hope you will accept these nominations, your honor.

I see that Pitt, Nemesis, and Nadin all were already nommed for DOTY, so I'm cool there. However I don't know if "The Bullies" is the same thing as what I'm calling "Nadin's Fanboys," or if her fanboys would be a subset of same.

But I am chagrined, deeply, that SidDithers was not previously nominated for the Rob. Nor was Skinner suggested for the Willie, but I don't feel as strongly about that. Still, there are good candidates in all categories.

I am hoping that the election judges will let my nominations stand, as it was still December 1. I may need to seek a court order.

Fire up the lawyers, we may need to take this all the way to the Supremes. Heck, we might even have to call in Diana Ross too. :-)

ACLU is waiting in the wings for Frank's decision...

It would be helpful CH if you claimed a protected group status - gay? lesbian? transgendered?

"The bullies" is anyone who has ever questioned the great, powerful and all knowing Nads of Arc (this would of course be everyone on Nads' ignore list).

Well now, showing up at nearly midnight the day nominations closed is rather risky; I'd mentioned three times that nominations would close circa supper-time, and Charles and franksolich are in the same time-zone.

Please note that for the voting thread, too; voting closes circa supper-time on December 12.

In past years, both threads have been closed near to midnight, and so perhaps my good friend Charles was assuming that was the case this year too.

This is why, folks, it's important to read the rules even if one's read the rules before.

After much consultation with God and franksolich's conscience, SidDithers has been put on the ballot for the Robyn McGrath award, the "Rob."

However, the nomination of my fellow alum Skins is not, because it doesn't appear he meets the standards for the William Rivers Pitt award, the "Willie."

The "Willie" goes to the primitive who, ever since the beginning in 2001, has done much to spread and enhance the good name and reputation of Skins's island, such as the Bostonian Drunkard's "Fitzmas" of May 12, 2006, which stirred up interest in Skins's island in many parts of the real world.

Or Atman's stupid comment in 2007 that got reported on a radio show that brought down upon Skins's island the laughter and derision of tens of millions.  Or poor stupid Beth's scam in 2005 that, by the time it was over, had engaged scores of other message boards and even real-life newspapers.

I don't see where Skins has done anything near like that; my fellow alum's name would've been rejected even if the nomination had been made in time.

As Charles noted, nearly all the rest of his proposed nominations were nominated in time anyway, by others.

When "the bullies" was nominated, I posed the query--did one mean the critics of the oblate spheroid, or did one mean nadin and her gang of brute thugs beating up on other primitives gently questioning her?

I got no answer, so I guess "the bullies" are whatever one wishes the bullies to be.  But in the context of the nomination, it appears "the bullies" are in association with nadin, either pro or con, and not primitives who "bully" (quotation marks intentional) the gayboys, the angry wymmyn, &c., &c. &c.

I suppose it's reasonable to assume the bullies are as formerlurker defined them; nadin's "iggy list."

As a kindness to the electorate, I'm putting up the voting thread about twelve hours early, in hopes that voters will read the rules and the ballot before they begin voting circa supper-time tonight.

As Mr. Wiggum is busy in real life, there had to be some changes in the way votes are cast and counted.
