How much longer WILL Dem officeholders feel they HAVE to wear those $*%&^#@ FLAG PINS!
Last edited Fri Nov 30, 2012, 03:31 AM USA/ET - Edit history (7)
OK...after 9/11, it made sense that they'd wear 'em-most people did, at that stage.
Even during the Iraq War, a case could sort of be made for it.
But ELEVEN years later?
When we're even on the way OUT of Afghanistan?
When there's no longer ANY real threat to this country?
When there's no possible reason for anybody to DEMAND that our officeholders prove that...well... that they're loyal to this country, over and over and over again?
Do any of the rest of you think "ENOUGH already with the pins"?
Can't our party, at least, leave the pin fetish to the 'pugs and admit that the country has moved on from 9/11?
(No, this isn't the single biggest issue out there...but it isn't something that really HAS to go on for any particular reason.)

1. Remember folks, it was NIXON who started the flag pin thing.

He used it as a "**** you, hippies!" gesture...and anytime you saw one of his appointees wearing a flag pin with that arrogant, Teutonic look on his face, you knew the guy was weeks away from getting indicted.
It's time to stop tying ourselves to something that has always been an arrogant, spiteful right-wing way of saying "We're Americans and YOU aren't".

Aw, it's just silly season on Skins's island.
Maybe so. There is no denying that they really feel this way though.
No, I just was a little too flippant in my response.
It's early morning; I just woke up.
"On behalf of the President of the United States and a grateful nation, this flag is presented as a token of our appreciation for the honorable and faithful service rendered by your loved one to his / her country ".
One of the downsides to watching the primitives is that you can become desensitized to just how anti-American and Constitution hating they are. This thread is a good reminder, but even now it doesn't have the shock value it did when I first found the island.

Relax, DUmbass. The flag pin is just a prop. It's part of a costume to be worn on stage. It's part of the script. It's an illusion-maker. It is solely for the benefit of the audience and has absolutely no meaning to the actor.
Think: Dustin Hoffman in "Tootsie".

1. I'm a mutt. Not a scoundrel, DUmmie. Get it right.
We watched The Campaign the other day. Hysterical movie but the funny part was Will Ferrel's, character a dem candidate, wore a flag pin that kept getting bigger the more trouble he got himself into. :rotf:That looks good. :rotf:
DUmpmonkeys have left me speechless...again.

Frank, Tell us what you really think. I fear you are holding back.
Wow, I think I will actually put stickers on my cars now. If just seeing a flag makes them so angry, it's well worth the small cost to put a few of them on every car we own. :rotf:I've been shopping around for a new bumper sticker to cover up my Romney/Ryan sticker now that the election is over. Not because I'm in any way ashamed of my support for Romney and Ryan, only because it's time to move on now. But after seeing this post, I'm inclined to get a flag sticker of some kind.

That looks good. :rotf:Just make sure the kids are in bed before you put it on. ;)

Not me....it's just what I've come to expect from them regarding anything good about America. No matter how trivial it may be, the DUmbasses will always denegrate anything American.I am mostly prepared for the vile American hate I see at DU, but when they bash our military, I admit to fantasizing about removing their wisdom teeth via their sphincters.

4. When we stop calling our nation "The Homeland" and go back to "nation" or "country"
3. Romney did NOT wear his flag pin today when he went to White House to lunch with Pres Obama

LeftofObama (1,152 posts)Actually, when fascism came to America, it came wrapped in the banner of "what's best for YOU." It came in things like telling preachers to stick to "religion" and quit talking about values and politics. It came in policies for "the little guy," like forcing "rich" people to support those that choose not to work, instead of those that truly can't. It came in policies that were "good for you," like helmet laws, seat belt laws, drinking and smoking laws. It was whispered, then "preached," then forced upon school children across the country under code names like "sex education," "evolution," "First Amendment rights." ::) It came in the name of "cleaning up history," when accurate books like "To Kill a Mockingbird" and "Huck Finn" were banned by those that deemed them racist instead of accurate to their time. It came in history lessons that ignored 99% of actual history and magnified the history that could be used to make children ashamed of being normal, decent Christian kids...or just white kids! It came wearing the label "Democrat," and YOU lurkers bought it, own it, hook, line and sinker. "There's one born every minute..." (Well, maybe not every minute, since you guys tend to murder so many of yours before birth.)
