Gee, an anti-Semetic organization gave a great big "Eff You" to Israel?
Color me shocked.

next step, palestine forms an army and the arab states supply it with heavy weapons.

If Palestine is recognized as a country by the UN, then allows rockets to continue to fall on Israel from within their borders, can Israel declare full out war and wipe Palestine off the map?
-
At some point it will come to that. But palestine will likely weasel a few alliances to keep that from happening.

Basically meaningless political theater. Given the way Israel itself was formed, the basis of its objection to this is practically comedic. Full membership in the UN would be another story, however I think that requires a Security Council vote where it could be vetoed by a permanent member. A US refusal to exercise its veto there if that happens, now THAT would be a real slap in the face to Israel.

Actually, strategically, it could be a net plus:
1)UN member states who attack another member state are subject to sanctions, meaning that Israel would have that protection.
2)When a member-state Palestine attacks Israel, Israel would then be free to declare war and level them, since it's in retaliation for an attack by another member.
