Stepping back away from the keyboard now. I have learned not to post when I am this pissed off. I'll go work out on the punching bag. Need to hit something. And someone needs to put this asshole away for attempted murder, at the very least.

It wasn't irrelevant to the many other people who hate her and everyone like her, and who might be emboldened by this incident to attack others like her.
And most of all, it isn't irrelevant to the many other people like her, like me, who fear something like this could happen to us because something like it just did.
It isn't irrelevant and it shouldn't be thought of as irrelevant.
Ask yourself: would you feel the same if the attack were motivated by her race? Her gender?
False argument comparing a persons race or gender to a perverted choice. And yes, being a queer is a choice.
All this being said, the guy should do some jail time. No more than the time for assault allows. Nothing added for a so called hate crime. Queers don't need special treatment in the courts.

I read the Kos article and wonder why only her family was quoted, didn't they talk to anyone in the guys family? Not even the the lesbian sister? Maybe they have a side of the story that shows it didn't happen because she's a dyke.

I noticed the same thing... it was very one-sided. It even quoted someone and doesn't say who she is. Apparently, it was the victim's sister.

One time when I was drinking, I was told by a dyke barmaid that she would beat my ass if I didn't stop treating my girlfriend in a way that she didn't like. About a half a second later, I jumped the bar. She had a revelation.

This is a lie to go along with other homosexual lobby lies. It is true that some species resort to homosexual behavior in some instances, such as overcrowding, and some species males use sex to dominate a lesser male, there isn't anything like the homosexual lobby claims. They are full of it.
Also, Why did she go to that house? I don't have much to add, but I once almost cold-cocked a friend (woman) of mine's girlfriend. She had been goading me for a while, and my friend touched my arm and shook her head at me. My friend's girlfriend was (still is, though the relationship ended) one of the worst people I've ever had the displeasure of knowing. I feel sorry for anyone, man or woman, that got inot a relationship with her.

Actually, I had lesbian chickens. Not kidding. Sophie Clucker & Goldie were totally devoted to each other and simply detested roosters. Most hens have a main rooster they hang around with but they wanted nothing to do with them. Sophie grieved for a couple of weeks after Goldie died. Sophie is the best chicken I've ever had. Awesome personality and very smart for a chicken, even for a Speckled Sussex who tend to be one of the more intelligent breeds. She loved to be picked up and carried around and she'd wait at the door for me to come out. Whenever a rooster tried to mount her she'd come running to me and crouch down like hens do when a rooster's going to hop on top of them and cluck at me to pick her up. I actually cried when she died. She's the only chicken buried with the rest of our pets.
I have another almost Sophie now, except Mavis isn't gay.

What I read is a family fully of trailer trash that probably brawls for fun. It's not hard to see given the behavior of the men in her family why the sister/ daughter chose a pretend man as a partner instead. And the one who got assaulted should have never went back. That's a family of hot headed losers. In the absence of their track record as a family I might consider she had a mouth that got her in trouble but for all we know she was defending her girlfriend given that cast of characters involved.

I agree, as stated in the OP.
I disagree with the DUmmies assertion that he should have an enhanced sentence as a hate crime because the victim was a queer. No class of people warrant special distinction.

How come my grand kids can eat free time to time for being under 10 years old ????
Crime victims are not all in one class, some are 90 years old, Even Rosa Parker in later years had her neighbors break in and rob her blind.
Can one place rape of a child in the same category as rape of an adult ?????
This crime had nothing to do with personal gain, like most gay bashing the victim is seldom robbed just beat up by strangers. All crime that has no gain for the criminals are Hate Crimes.
Example, some one steals your motorcycle, non hate crime, someone sets it on fire, hate crime.
Fortunately we have laws and regulations that take into consideration that all people are different, age sex, abilities or lack of them. A blind person cannot be expected to protect themselves the same as the seeing, a 80 year old cannot be expected to have the reflexes of a 30 year old. A 3 year old child cannot fight back from a rape as a 15 year old can.
We have come along way since all laws applied to all people. We no longer place sand bags on the ankles of 4 years old to hang for stealing a crust of bread next to adults that have done the same.
Classes, the pedophiles, the thrill killers, those with an IQ under 70, children under 13 that wipe out their parents and the parents that wipe out their kids.
ANYONE that were to hit my Mom and was charged with simple assult I would go NUTS on. Anyone that hit my 5 year old grand child and charged with simple assult I would go NUTS on. Classes of the victim, were my family be attacked for being Christian, gay or color of skin, no other reason but they exist and others don't like it and family member ends up beaten half to death ?????

You think that the rapist of a adult woman should receive a lesser sentence that the rapist of a child? No. They both should receive the same sentence. Personally I would say the death sentence but lacking that option, mandatory life.
Thugs shouldn't receive a reduced sentence based on their victims classification or special status. Give them the maximum sentence regardless.
