Trending, crunchy news, hopefully going nationwide.   :rotf:

I love the part about educating the low information shoppers on the evils of Walmart.  That worked out well.

Nadin must have run that story through her translation machine.  Or maybe her anonymous Walmart employee helped her.   :lmao:

The small rag, which is free and delivered by winos, had to have a team of linguistic experts to translate, correct and  rewrite gNads article.

It doesn't resemble anything that she has ever posted at the DUmp.

DUmmie math, indeed. We have increased your profit by an additional negative 15 billon.
Article full of speculation, second hand accounts and edited "quotes" from un-named sources.
A very distorted and biased report, to say the least.
Suffice it to say, typical gNads style.  It was an opinion piece, not an honest report.
I wonder how long it took the editor to correct all the grammar/spelling errors before it was posted?

Maybe my mind hasn't completely woke up yet this morning. Can someone explain the above to me. It looks to me like they admit that it would cost employers $20.8 billion, but they claim it is a good thing because it would generate up to $5 billion in new revenue.  Doesn't this mean that the net result is that employers are OUT about $15 billion?

If this is how they view things no wonder they've got the country in such bad shape.

Be afraid. These are the idiots that are running the nation's economy. I heard some Obama lapdog yesterday saying that more stimulus was more important than the national debt and that the national debt really didn't mean anything. I guess the idiot doesn't understand interest payments and what happens when the interest payments overcome our income level.

I know this SEEMS obvious, but... if you are serious about cutting the deficit...

And... this study does not target Wal-Mart, but the implication is there. Then why even bother puting the name in the title. Project much?

Study: Higher retail wages would lift Americans out of poverty, boost economy
By Kay Steiger - RawStory
Wednesday, November 21, 2012 10:51 EST

<snip> (his/hers/its)

A new study released by the progressive think tank Demos on Monday estimated that if retail workers were given a living wage, hundreds of thousands of Americans would be lifted out of poverty and the wage boost would significantly bolster the economy.
>snippage<
Righto.  No slant coming from that.

You know, sir, I'm not so sure the oblate spheroid went to a Wal-Mart at all, to cover a story.

If you read the article very carefully, it seems a recapitulation of other news stories.

And her photographs--well, maybe they were snapped while the oblate spheroid and her witless husband were standing in line at Wal-Mart waiting to buy a bunch of stuff.

Remember, she's a DUmmie.

You've almost got it right.

Everyone send you 5 dollars then you cross your name off of the top of the list. Everyone else on the list moves up one slot. Newbs put their name at the bottom and wait to move up into the top slot for the big payoff.

Lurking DUmbasses here is a little lesson on that concept called reality that is so foreign to you.

Whether it be taxes or increased wages the business is not going to just take the hit and go on.
It will raise prices on the products accordingly so your increased buying power amounts to nothing.

Just remember the old adage.

I hate to say this, but there is no job in Walmart, that would deserve a $25,000.00(except mgt) yearly pay wage. One doesn't need a college education to stock shelves. Yes we offer health insurance, the premiums are high, imo, however....
If they did raise the living minimum wage, are people who have been there a long time, and have busted their asses, are their wages going to reflect that raise?? probably not.... ::)

For most people, it is a stepping stone to something else, or supplemental income, as (Mrs Smith?) said...

And what a lot of people don't seem to realize is that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. If you force Walmart to raise their wage, Walmart will in turn raise their prices to cover said wage.

I personally won't shop at any retailers open on Thanksgiving.
On November 24th, 2012 miriamg says:

If none of us went there on Thanksgiving night, this would stop.

Both my kids work jobs where they're forced to be at work on major holidays. I hate it.  It's dsetructive of family life - it's impossible for our family to all be together even on Christmas Day or Thanksgiving most years.  We should have some consideration for the employees.  With a 4-day holiday weekend, there is no reason why people can't go shopping on Friday, Saturday or Sunday, and let workers have a day off with family on Thanksgiving.

While I can see a need for gas stations to be open to accommodate people traveling on Thanksgiving  Day, there is absolutely no justification for employees to have to miss family time on holidays jsut to accommodate shopping mania.  Let's get back to what holidays are all about, not the shop-til-you-drop craziness. Same with places like tourism attractions, movie thaeters, etc.  You have 3 other days for all of that --let workers have the holiday, too.

As for Walmart, the issues are worse than just the holiday hours.  Other retailers allow workers the dignity of working full time and provide them with healthcare. Walmart doesn't and taxpayers are stuck with the tab through MediCal, foodstamps and whatever other public assistance its employees need to survive. That's just wrong in my book, which is why I personally do not shop at Walmart

Isn't this DU misfit Miriam one of the editors of this rag?   Way to go on full disclosure Miriam with noting that in your extremely biased response to this article.

As for the article:

Quote
It is also of note that at no time did any of these volunteers stop anybody from going into the store. They gave shoppers leaflets  and many also wore “I support Walmart workers” green stickers.

Walmart posted security at every entrance, from their management teams. They also had an hourly employee ask people to throw the flyers into the trash as they walked in. Some shoppers did, some did not and went on to buy their merchandise wearing these green stickers.

Hey Nads of Arc - Walmart, and every other store, hires police details and posts security at the door on every single black friday.    It had nothing to do with the fear of 15 misfit protestors (when hundreds of shoppers line up to shop).

I would also like to know how you know that some threw the flyers into the trash and some didn't?   Also would like to know how you learned that an "hourly employee" (and aren't they all?) was stationed there to ask shoppers to throw the flyers away?   You do know that Walmart has official greeters at every store, every single day of the year right?

I agree with Frank.  Nads didn't even go did she?  There are no pictures of the line of shoppers waiting to get in - you know, at opening when there are doorbuster sales.   This pictures looks like it was taken at noon.    Maybe it's a Northeast thang, but the stores around these here parts open up when it is dark and really really scary out.    What's the matter Nads?  no trolley service at midnight?

She is a phony wannabe hack.    I have seen high school newspapers with better articles.

Yeah, that's kinda what I thought.

Oh, and please show me how many people are working for minimum wage in the US (about 4 million at last count) and how many of them are the sole breadwinners in their household (damn few.)

You may go now.

Bat Walmart was not that open to letting reporters, nationwide mind you, into the stores.

Then how the hell did you know that there was an hourly wage employee stationed at the door for the purpose of telling customers to throw the flyers away?    How also did you know that some customers did throw them away and some didn't?    You also could have, you know, gone undercover and acted like a customer instead of a real live reporter.   Just saying.

you know. So I take it, no comment on the content, just an attack on grammar. Worthy of something else.

Oh never mind...

Have an excellent day.

I would like it noted for the viewing audience that Brother Buzz has a star.   Nadine has none.   Take from that what you will (class warfare - Nadine can't afford what Brother Buzz has, he knows this and feels she is inferior because of it.   It is because of the star, or lack thereof, that Nads is being treated this way.  In a sense, she has enabled the bullies).

Yeah, that's her.

She used to post at the DUmp as Liberty Belle, but haven't seen much of her in a while.

Here's the Memo that #Walmart Sent to its Managers on how to Respond to Wave of Protests
http://big.assets.huffingtonpost.com/Walmart-2.pdf #labor #walmartstrikers   Reading this purported memo destroys nearly all DUmp claoms.

(4.9 megabytes, dial-up warning! Note that the date is October 12, and there had only been the one or two strikes on October 1 preceding this. Organizing was beginning but I'm not sure if it yet indicated a national strike. This shows they've long since taken seriously any and all attempts at organizing and striking.)
No, it shows that they're following the law.
Here's why I drug it over...

Miriam doesn't know crap does she. Walmart does offer health insurance and my mother when she worked there and many of the other employees there work full time and did or have for years. Thy really don't even know anything then what they hear from their masters do they? Dimwits.

Hate to break it to everybody but $5 billion in new REVENUE is at max, $400 million. Which mean that Walmart gives in $20 billion and receives all of the new revenue goes back to them they only lose $19.6 billion. However as pointed out, that will get passed on to the barely surviving in the Oconomy strapped consumer. It is a $19.5 billion tax on all the poor.

I thought getting goodies from the state was a good thing. Now they have the nerve to complain about it.  :mental:

Seriously does anyone believe that $25k, $12/hr would satisfy them?

That would not go very far in California!

I won't hold my breath waiting for the $20 bills.  :-)

How about a $30 or $60 bill?   :-) :-)

The OWSsies have proven that even $100K for some of them still isn't enough.

And I'm gonna just throw a little something out there for all you DUmmies to chew on.  I've been around the block a time or two, and human nature being what it is, would you think most DUmmies like yourselves would prefer to 1--not have a job or have one with such a low income that "da gubmint" will provide you with lots of free shit, or 2--work to an income level to just enough to where you won't qualify for said freebies any longer?  IOW, if you raised the rate of pay by 50 percent, would those people work the same hours, or cut back to the point they still get their "free shit?"

Yeah, that's kinda what I thought.

Oh, and please show me how many people are working for minimum wage in the US (about 4 million at last count) and how many of them are the sole breadwinners in their household (damn few.)

You may go now.

A few of the smaller small town Wal Marts that I knew of had alot of parents working while the kids were in school. It gave them a chance to earn extra money and still be home in time to get the kids off the bus.
