Interesting thread was started over there.
The OP posted an observation, and was immediately set upon by the primitives.
The lies, innuendo and conjecture whould make any poo flinging monkey proud.
Far to much stupidity to even think of dragging more over.
Have a read, and have fun.

many Walmart workers are glad to work on T Day and overnight into Friday...
visited the local wally world recently, where the pallet jacks were stacking up huge piles of shrink wrapped goods marked for Thursday night. Had some chats with the worker bees and they were ALL glad to get more hours and pay. Everyone I talked to, about 8 people, were happy about that, at least that's what they told the public (me) 0
Thank you for shopping WalMart. :cheersmate:

56. Union members actually have a higher work ethic
And because of it workers everywhere gain. Show me a company that has union workers and I'll show a better quality product.

43. A young neighbor recently got a job stocking at night at Walmart
I saw him recently and he told me he hated working there but there was nothing else available.
More anecdata for your study.
How can that be? Does he not know that 0bama has given us a record low unemployment rate of 7.9%?
Some people just don't appreciate the wonderful 0bama economy, maybe he is a racist or something.
What I find interesting is the DUmmies think everyone is like them, they think everyone wants to work only 4 hours a day with a 2 hour lunch break, six weeks paid vacation, unlimited sick time, free healthcare, free pensions that pay them a living wage from the time they retire at 40 until the day they die. They can't understand the idea that some people are willing to work hard and will even give up a holiday for some extra pay. When I was a kid people like the workers in this story was what most people were like. People would happily work on Thanksgiving and celebrate on Friday instead if it meant extra money in their pocket.
-
I have Friday off, but the old boss we had used to ask my shift (3 people) to work on the Friday after Thanksgiving. All 3 of did every year for the extra money, hard to turn down 12 hours overtime.

Friday will be straight time for me.

When Metlife Stadium was being built they had to call in some non-union workers, the union workers were sabotaging left and right. Also my Uncle was in a Union in the 60's and 70's, they would take turns taking days off and clocking each other in and out.
IMO every State should be a right to work State.

Maybe because kids today think when they get a job they should be made CEO right away?

I would love someone to explain to me why unions are not subject to anti-trust laws.

Well no shit Sherlock. If I had to do that I'd hate it, too. Since when did every job become something you're supposed to love to do? There are crap jobs out there that need to be done. Most people use them as a stepping stone to something better. How many people do you know that make a career out of being a stockboy? I worked plenty of undesireable jobs before I got my education and settled into an agreeable career. I didn't blame the owner of the farm or the sawmill I worked at for not paying me CEO wages. Some jobs are just not designed to support a family of four on. I just don't understand this damned entitlement mentality that dictates that some kid's paper route should put them squarely in the middle class.

My husband was a night stocker durring college. I'm sure he didn't like it but you do what you have to. I really can't stand these leeches.
-
Some day, I'd like to see a primitive place a "for hire" ad in a local paper.
Must include a list of wages required and work conditions that must be met.
They can then sit back, pick and choose from the vast numbers of offers that role in.

I remember working one Thanksgiving Weeked (very rare ). Man what a Christmas that was. Yahoo, big bucks X2, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Still had a nice turkey dinner with family just a bit later than usual.

Yep. Numbers count in a democratic system, so they tend to screw the few in favor of the many, whether it's based on race, religion, or economic class. It's the dark side of the whole democracy thing. Yes, yes, I know we're a federal republic, that's still a democratic form of government.

FDR IIRC.

Wonder if the DUmmie can provide a link to the study that says union members have a higher work ethic or that they produce a higher quality product. I'd love to see it.

Hey DUmmies,
You wanna know someone besides you who has a shittier job, in shittier conditions, and a lot of them make a lot less than you?
Try being a member of the military deployed. I don't know how many holidays I spent out in the middle of nowhere, staring at the same ugly bastards, no phone calls, no sunlight, no mail, no care packages, no shit.
Now quit bitchin. You bought it, you own it.

I worked at a local grocery store for my job during high school. I got a whopping 3 or 4 dollars an hour no bennies and I only worked from 8:30 till Noon Monday through Friday a to get and a Saturday or Sunday on the weekend. It was the first job where any boss asked me what sized turkey I wanted for Christmas. I wasn't sure and so I asked how big are they that I could get and he said 13 pounds so I got one that big not knowing we would have more then enough leftovers that year. The hours were ok and the pay was enough to get me what I wanted. I had no desire to do what some Union slugs would do because working hard was enough to earn my keep.

Sounds familiar, only I started at $2.
Wasn't a lot, just kept me going.
Work hard, earn your pay, and move up.
I'm grateful to that first employer for giving me my chance.
It was a start for better things in the future.

If I had to work today, i would have bit the bullet and gone in. It was time and a half for goodness sakes, and I would have made the best of it....
When I think of it, our troops who are thousands of miles from home, fighting for our freedoms, and sacraficing times like these to be on duty, I am truley thankful to have a job!!

Same her Skul. I worked many a Thanksgiving, at straight time too, cause I couldn't afford to take the hit on my paycheck. You do what you gotta do. Now? Well make min wage, have kids and the government will make up the difference.
Here are the kids now:
Every year during the summer, we hire a bunch of interns... kids in college... and not a damn one of them are worth a shit. Summer before last I was out of the office for all of June working on a project. So Perky comes into the office in July for a meeting with the client and here are these kids, with their feet on the desk, keyboard on their lap, and I went postal. The first one I chewed out, I asked him if was comfy and he said yes, he was, and thanked me for asking.
I went off.
Then the bastard had the nerve to ask me who I was. I told him I WAS THE DAMNED MANAGER AND TO GET OUT!!! Fired him on the spot. Then I walked up the hall and several more were texting. Well that didn't sit well with me either. Went into my bosses office. She told me that was just the way it was now.
Well screw that.
Hell even when they got the gumption to get an education they expect more than I ever did. You got to pay your dues in any organization.
Isn't any wonder obumbles got reelected. The kids are gonna get a rude awakening when the money runs out.
We are a dying breed, Skul. :banghead: :banghead:
That's what happens when you toss money to the non-acheivers and subsidize them. They out breed us and the sheer numbers ain't in our favor. :banghead: :banghead:
