WORKERS TO STAGE WALK OUTS AT WALMART STORES ON BLACK FRIDAY

November 20, 2012 (San Diego)—Across the nation and in San Diego County, Walmart workers are poised to stage a walk out on Friday, traditionally the biggest shopping day of the year.
This Thanksgiving, Walmart workers at more than 1,000 locations are seeking a seat at the bargaining table.
“Unless Walmart takes immediate steps to improve basic working conditions, workers throughout the company's vast operations — from factories and warehouses to retail stores — will participate in a massive walkout on Friday, November 23," states an e-mail sent by Color of Change.
The reasons are many, but lifting workers out of poverty is a key factor. Wages reportedly averaging $8.81/hour add up to just $15,576/year for a full-time employee.

I had to search for a Walmart that had a planned protest. I found one using the link from the DUmp thread. It's a little out of the way, but I'll be there.
Just a warning to lurking DUmbasses, I'm armed every place I go. Friday will be be exception.

Well, this Walmart associate is NOT walking out!!! This Walmrt employee is happy where she is, and makes the most of it, and gives each day her best. The Obamatard at work was complaining that Walmart's CEO makes $4000 a pay period. The Ceo probably has a college degree in Retail, business, marketing etc. The CEO has to answer to the bitch and gripes of consumers and associates. If I were the manager of Wal-Mart, I'd put a "Taking Applications" sign on all the doors. Let the people that want to walk out see it in big letters when they arrive.

If there is violence it will not be caused by Walmart. Gone are the days when a business owner could call in the Pinkertons to bust some heads. The unions on the other hand are able to be violent because of the Hobbs Act

She said she no longer shops at WalMart because of their polices and practices. I was dumbfounded - she is very conservative. Wow! Even an elderly RW relative of mine looked around at everything made in China, and rarely shops there now.
They're definitely getting bad press.
The phrase "I hate WalMart" is becoming more common.

The store in that link, Walterboro and likely the one in Oxford, are 80% minority staffed. Color me shocked.

A couple other things come to mind. Not a hundred percent sure, just pretty darn sure.
If the rabble set foot on the property, and are unwanted, it's considered trespass even if they use the "organizing" excuse.
Yewnyuns can not organize on company time and disrupt business.
Any employee that engages in that action, is subject to disciplinary action, up to and including discharge.
Most of the rabble outside the store, are most likely not employees, just rabble.
The excuses for failure will be funny.

Just a curiosity question, but when you protest, shouldn't you protest when a lot of people are actually going to be shopping there? the event for Secaucus NJ is planned for Fri. at 12:30PM, aren't most of the people shopping on Black Friday done well before that time? why aren't they getting up early to protest? Just looking at the other protest places, there's just 1 protest at 5AM, a few at 9AM, a few around noon, I see a 3:30PM and 4PM protest, and I see 1 scheduled for Thurs. at 8PM.

Either the workers will chicken out or Walmart will put on some kind of pressure to prevent them from doing it. Ever think maybe the workers just want to keep their job?

It would make a hell of a statement if they did but I'm not sure Walmart's reaction would be what the want. Don't walk off the job.

I have also talked to workers who work at warehouses, and the conditions are horrific. You lie again. You haven't talked to anybody.
For the record, I am not the only one to notice,yes you are there are more labor stories than there used to be. I call this birth pains for a new labor movement. I hope this is not as painful as the previous one. More like a painful bowel movement cause you're just plain full of sh**.

....but I would *almost* feel like showing up to one of these Walmarts.

Try parking a thousand feet away from any Wal Mart around here and your either parking in another businesses lot or someones back yard. None of which is a good idea if you have no reason to be there.

When you had to "work for welfare" Wal Mart was a popular place, as the adults only needed to work 20 hours a week to keep their benefits from the state.

Our closest Walmart is in a shopping center with so many other stores. Those include Home Depot, Sam's Club, Best Buy, Babies R Us, Ross, Bed Bath & Beyond, Petsmart, etc. I don't think there will be any open spaces during the start of Black Friday until about 2pm. I'm going to Target tomorrow. After the Black Friday crowd is mostly gone. I will try to go after dinner. We need some Christmas lights! :)
