Why does the U.N. care so much?

http://www.boston.com/news/world/united-nations/2012/11/20/official-calls-for-marijuana-ballot-rollback/QEqcQ9iGNYt6U7AWyy8BLM/story.html

VIENNA (AP) — The head of the U.N. drug watchdog agency is urging U.S. federal officials to challenge ballot measures in Colorado and Washington that decriminalized possession of small amounts of marijuana for adults 21 and over.

Raymond Yans says the approvals send ‘‘a wrong message to the rest of the nation and it sends a wrong message abroad.’’

Yans heads the International Narcotics Control Board. He told The Associated Press on Tuesday he hopes Attorney General Eric Holder ‘‘will take all the necessary measures’’ to ensure that marijuana possession and use remains illegal throughout the U.S.

Both states are holding off on plans to regulate and tax the drug while waiting to see whether the Justice Department will assert federal authority over drug law.

does regarding this, I hope the UN has zero influence over it. The UN does not and should not have any authority or influence over the US.

IIRC , the DUmmies were all for the UN sending people into the US to monitor the election.   They also like it when the UN sanctions Israel, but man don't let them mess with their drugs.

A second look at the 10th Amendment for Democrats?

A growing distrust of the UN?

I voted against A64* but I knew if it passed DU would be trapped.

The UN thing is just extra gravy.

* debate on legalization aside: I was dead set against using a constitutional amendment. The regular legislative process should suffice.

Yeah, funny how they're all about state's rights now. I was thinking about it after the election. Me? Hey, if the Washingtonians and Coloradans want to toke away, not my business as a Georgian, transplanted from Mississippi. Let's see how the DUmmies take it. ...and low and behold, they took it, hook, line, and sinker. Bunch of hypocrites.
