Facebook Photo Of Woman At Tomb Of The Unknowns Sparks Outrage
I wonder what her username here is?

BOSTON (CBS) – Two women have been placed on unpaid leave from their jobs after their photo at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia angered thousands of people on Facebook.

Lindsey Stone was visiting the Tomb of the Unknowns last month on a business trip when she posed for a picture next to a sign that reads “silence and respect.”

In the photo, Stone is pretending to yell and she’s showing her middle finger.

The photo, taken by a co-worker, went viral and sparked thousands of angry comments.

Some of those comments were posted on the Facebook page of their employer, Living Independently Forever, Inc.,(LIFE) a non-profit organization in Hyannis that helps adults with disabilities on Cape Cod.

Moral of the story... don't do stupid shit and upload it to FaceBook unless you want to suffer the consequences.

Better yet... stay off FaceBook altogether.

I will go collect more later - I wanted to catch it before it goes down the memory hole...

Big campfire. A 3rd are upset that DU is being linked to the photo.
The others are split between defending here (Artic Dave is the a$$hole there), and saying it was wrong.

Now that Arctic Dave's wife, the Mammarian Candidate, is no longer running for the Alaska state legislature, he is free to release his inner asshole.

Hey, Dave. The next time Jodie lets you kiss her, smell her breath. That's the smell of Dog cock.

Nobody egged her house or beat her up.

She just lost the ability to convince her employer that she was worth keeping around (and likely convinced many of her "friends" that she wasn't worth having as a friend).

Amazing how few people understand that foundation. "Free speech" does not mean "no consequences for any kind for your personal expression"

Other residents of our free country are free to express their dissatisfaction with her behavior... including her employer.

Small ray of truth pierces the darkness

Of course it does.

This is a nonprofit organization that deals with adults with various mental disabilities. They specifically advertise that their staff provides a "nurturing and caring environment". Who they choose to employ certainly impacts the public's view of their ability to provide this nurturing/caring environment.

"Obnoxious and very stupid" doesn't fit that need. They absolutely could lose business because of her actions.

They're under no obligation to continue her employment.

"It is a scary place that this society is racing towards" the belief that you can do whatever you want and the rest of society has to enable that behavior.

I mean, how lazy are journalists today that instead of getting out there and actually reporting about worthy subjects, modern journalism now is like 12-year-old's tattling on teacher's pet to mommy? Seriously.

No?

Even though so many at DU demanded that the "The Innocence of Muslims" filmmaker be arrested?

Still  no?

Then that is why America's fallen  deserve respect: because the American people and their warriors are better than  - -  superior to - - the savages you traitors would have us appease at the expense of the very law that protects this sow of yours.

I totally disagree, our Country is sinking into 3rd world Nation status, you have stupid people who vote for high unemployment and high debt because they want their freebies, add to that a growing disrespect and ignorance among the electorate, you increasingly have people being robbed for fun, seniors being robbed and beaten up, groups of kids going into stores by the hundreds to rob and harass for fun, this picture isn't just a picture of disrespect to those who served and lost their lives for this Nation, her poor judgement and disrespect is indicative of a once great Nation sliding downward.

This is the type of societal rot that having "far more important issues to debate" has wrought.  When behavior and standards are sacrificed to the left (which it has been for, lo, many years), this is the kind of crap that will float to the top.  The "far more important issues" will mean jack shit if we do not start to demand standards of behavior; the individuals you count on to be reasonable and thoughtful will not have the skills to pull it off.

That's why this is such a big deal.

They used to say the same thing about a very few vocal atheists that bitched about nativity scenes. Now, try to find one. If you don't care about it when it's an isolated event, it soon escalates. History is your friend.

I am curious if her apology is "Sorry for what I did" or "Sorry I got flak."

DU bitches about bullies whenever bullies pick on their beloved fags.  Supposedly it's wrong to pick on those that can't fight back. Yet they never seem to tire of picking on dead heroes, Mother Teresa, Jesus and folks because it makes them look high and mighty.

First off, I would never trust someone so effed up in the head around vulnerable cognitively impaired residents. If she thinks mocking soldiers that gave their lives (many way younger than she is) for their country, how do we know what "pranks and jokes" she finds humor in at the expense of innocent developmentally disabled people? AND she did this on company time. Hope she had fun, glad it went viral. She can post pictures of herself mocking signs in welfare offices now.

and yet, the DU thread discussing this asks for sympathy for this liberal b!tch. Since when have liberals ever shown sympathy for anyone they disagree with?

TO: diane@lifecapecod.org

Ma'am,

My name is <redacted>. I am a Veteran of the US Army, and a Department of the Army Civilian employee. I am also a member and former national officer of the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR), an organization of Veterans, bikers, and patriotic Americans who honor the men and women of the Armed Forces who sacrificed their lives in service to our country. The PGR have escorted thousands of military members who were Killed In Action to their final resting place and stood between grieving family members across the country and protesters, including at Arlington National Cemetery. I have heard "Taps" played in that Garden of Stone; it joins the Vietnam War Memorial (The Wall) and the USS Arizona Memorial as the only geographic locations which reduced me to tears.

Like many Americans, I hold Arlington National Cemetery to be a sacred place. I was upset to see the photograph of your employee, Lindsey Stone, acting disrespectfully in that sacred place. In addition to my disgust at her disrespect toward Arlington itself and those within, I also felt concern that her inappropriate behavior was seen by your developmentally disabled clients. Such poor judgment is certainly not conducive to quality care or service toward your clients, and can't reflect positively on the image of LIFE.

I appreciate your action in disavowing the behavior of Ms. Stone and her co-worker, Jamie Schuh, and in removing them from contact with your clients. I have no doubt that you will do the right thing for your clients and your organization.

Respectfully,

Perhaps they could shack up with the bitter old Vermontese primitive.
They do have much in common.

I received a reply yesterday afternoon that both employees involved were terminated after consulting the company's attorney.  The unfortunate part is that because this is the republic of Massachusetts they will probably be able to collect unemployment without any difficulty.

I could see it if she was 12 years old. That lady is an adult and not a really young one either. Actions have consequences.
