John Metz, Denny's Franchisee And Hurricane Grill & Wings Owner, Imposes Surcharge For Obamacare
While some business owners threaten to cut workers' hours to avoid paying for their health care, a West Palm Beach, Fla., restaurant owner is going even further. John Metz said he will add a 5 percent surcharge to customers' bills to offset what he said are the increased costs of Obamacare, along with reducing his employees' hours.
"If I leave the prices the same, but say on the menu that there is a 5 percent surcharge for Obamacare, customers have two choices. They can either pay it and tip 15 or 20 percent, or if they really feel so inclined, they can reduce the amount of tip they give to the server, who is the primary beneficiary of Obamacare," Metz told The Huffington Post. "Although it may sound terrible that I'm doing this, it's the only alternative. I've got to pass the cost on to the consumer."

In the movie Demolition Man it was: all restaurants are Taco Bell.
In Obama's America it is apparently: all businesses/companies are boycotted.

How the hell do you expect them to pay for it, ya dumb skank? Democrats are dumb as HELL when it comes to business economics. That's who you have controlling the nation for the next 4 years. We're f'ed.

You know, when I was a teenager, late 50's, early 60's, HARDEE's had hamburgers for 15 cent and cheeseburgers for 19 cent.
What we need are electronic menus that list the price increases and the reasons for them.....like....
Hamburger.............................................................................15 cent
plus cost of "The great War on Poverty"............................$1.69
Plus Jimmy Carter inflation..................................................$3.29
Plus BILL Clinton threat to banks for "red lining"................$4.69
Plus "War on Terror"...........................$0.03.......................$4.72
Plus Obama's "energy cost will necessarily skyrocket".......$7.36
Plus Obamacare..................................................................$8.45
Plus local taxes....................................................................$9.35
Plus state sales tax..............................................................$9.91
Plus misc. environmental concerns........................................$11.45
Plus 10% tip..........................................................................$12.60 Total charge for hamburgers
EXTRAS
pickle...........................$1.00
mustard.......................$1.00
Ketchup............Kerry brand...........$2.00.........other $.50
onion............................$1.00
HAMBURGER ALL THE WAY...........$16.10........or $17.60 for the Kerry special.

"Naysayers"?

Whether a business announces it publicly or not, prices will have to go up on pretty much everything in order to cover the additional burden. Are these nimrods going to boycott every last businesses that increases prices? If so, it's likely that we're seeing the evolution of the old Democrat jackass becoming an ostrich with its head in the ground.

Well then, happily, we will see a lot of DUmmies starving to death, in the cold and dark.
"Naysayers." ::) What a retard.

The Supreme Court called the Obamacare fine a tax....businesses always pass taxes on to the consumer.....so what did they expect would happen?
Also, having a separate line item in their accounting program vs just increasing the cost of the food would eventually show if the business is charging enough to cover the fine tax.
High schools really need to teach business economics. That's why we have so many stupid voters.

This is in New York's not very distant future:

President Obama's election victory ensured his Affordable Care Act would remain the centerpiece of his first term in power - but that has left some business owners baulking at the extra cost Obamcare will bring.
Florida based restaurant boss John Metz, who runs approximately 40 Denny's and owns the Hurricane Grill & Wings franchise has decided to offset that by adding a five percent surcharge to customers' bills and will reduce his employees' hours.
With Obamacare due to be fully implemented in January 2014, Metz has justified his move by claiming it is 'the only alternative. I've got to pass on the cost to the customer.'
The fast-food business owner is set to hold meetings at his restaurants in December where he will tell employees, 'that because of Obamacare, we are going to be cutting front-of-the-house employees to under 30 hours, effective immediately.'
I think it's a terrible thing. It's ridiculous that the maximum hours we can give people is 28 hours a week instead of 40,' said Metz to the Huffington Post.
'It's going to force my employees to go out and get a second job.'
Obamacare requires businesses or franchises with more than 50 workers must offer an approved insurance plan or pay a penalty of $2,000 for each full-time worker over 30 workers.
The program mandates that only employees working more than 30 hours a week are covered under their employers health insurance plan, chains like Olive Garden and Red Lobster are already considering reduced worker hours.
'Obviously, I'd love to cover all our employees under that insurance,' said Metz.
'But to pay $5,000 per employee would cost us $175,000 per restaurant and unfortunately, most of our restaurants don't make $175,000 a year. I can't afford it.'
Several other restaurants including Papa John's, Apple Metro and Jimmy John's have announced plans to skirt Obamacare by reducing employees hours to make them part-time.

Metz also said;
He currently provides coverage to about 250 employees.
"It's going to be a big issue for all of us — for my employees and for me,†said Metz, who has been in the industry since 1975. “The ones that are working more than 28 hours, they’re going to act as if I’m cutting their hours and they’ll have to find another job.â€
Maybe the employees would or should be contributing to the cost of the forced insurance coverage out of their own paychecks to protect their jobs and health coverage? Why should the business be required to cover the cost of your insurance? They didn't hire you to give you free insurance, they hired you to have you do a job and receive a pay check for doing that job.

I liked her uniform in The Proposal better.

Maybe John Metz, Denny's Franchisee And Hurricane Grill & Wings Owner will be a trend setter for other companies.

"Clearly, you are seeing what real people are doing with costly situations. This is no different than the airline carriers adding a bag fee or noting the TSA extra expense."
"I suspect this Denny's owner wants his customers to understand why their costs are going up and what they must do to handle the cost increase.
"Frankly, they are just being honest with the customer. It's possible you may see more of this as employers begin major preparation for the law."
The DUmmies need to know what is happening with all these companies is the result of their actions, these companies did not want to fire, lay off or raise prices for their customers, it is something they were FORCED to do by obama and his supporters.
