Costco and Boeing Will Not Hire Pot Smokers
...NO LINK AVAILABLE.
Heard on KATUTV tonight in Portland that Costco and Boeing are among Washington state employers who will not honor the new law that will allow possession of an once or less if perspective and current employees decide to participate in partaking. Both state as long as it is a Federal Law violation they will not allow it and even then they still will never allow pot smoker employment..
The employment issue may just be the next battled coming up if the FEDS decide to allow states to handle pot on their own.

Bet none of you idiots know why.
It isn't just because pot smokers make lousy employees, it has to do with the insurance. Workman's comp will NOT pay if you are in an accident and you have pot in your system.

2. guess what? They already have workers that are pot smokers.
They managed to pass their piss tests
And they better hope they don't slice their finger open while at work, if they do they get stuck with the doctor bill and get fired.

3. Wouldn't that be discrimination under the new state law?
I wonder if the ACLU would be interested in this.
I'm sure the ACLU would.

6. Is this about their insurance companies?
I worked in the office of a construction company, and we couldn't have anyone who used any drug, including marijuana, because the insurance company wouldn't insure us. Is this something they just decided or is it prompted by an insurance company?
This DUmmy gets it.

11. Employers can, and do, also not hire cigarette smokers.
Smokers are not a protected class as far as discrimination goes. Residencial property owners also often don't rent to smokers of any kind. Even if the federal law was changed to make pot legal, pot smokers legally could still be discriminated against in housing and employment.
Oops. :rotf:

Just what we need. Boeing employees smoing pot.
No thanks.
Idiots.

But how many employees will Boeing in Seattle have left anyway, after the next several months?
Remember what's on the horizon, and one hopes the blue states get it first.

It would be so great to see Boeing relocate, lock, stock, and barrel, to South Carolina.

Or just about anywhere the IAM union doesn't have a stranglehold on a trained workforce.
-
Imagine that. Costco was a huge contributor to obama and they don't hire stoners. Suck on it DUmmies.
-
Any injury at work requires us to take a drug test soon afterwards. Even for something as simple as getting something in your eye. If you report it, you get a drug test.

Shoot, that ain't nuthin'. At my company it's a firing offense to smoke tobacco on-"campus" (snicker...it's a bus maintenance garage); a disciplinary action to go off-"campus" except on the two breaks per shift; and that's for an entirely legal substance.
Yes, tobacco is legal. You just can't smoke it anywhere. What are people supposed to do, look at it?
(Full disclosure: I quit in 2004. I recommend quitting to anyone who asks. If I owned this place I would only prohibit smoking in enclosed common spaces like the lunchroom, provide indoor and outdoor smoking spaces (and that only because of the flammable substances around here-- otherwise they could smoke while working for all of me), and my policy on frequency of smoke breaks would be tied to productivity and purpose (one cig per break, and when it goes out, you come in).

We provide testing and maintenance service to several large companies and they have "No Tobacco" on premises policies. ADM is one and Tate & Lyle is the other one. They're both grain processors that make ethanol.
ETA: correct text.

This is an outrage! We need to BOYCOTT!!!!

Hell NO!! I ain't riding on a plane that's been put together, inspected or maintained by pot heads. (I ain't flying commercially at all, either, but let's not quibble, m'kay?) Boycott Costco if you've got all kinds of time to stand around being useless (but feeling like you're making a difference :whatever: ), but leave the Lazy-B out of this.

23. I've been hired for three
six figure software engineering positions. Get to the pee test and cannabis is not acceptable even with valid doctors recommendation. I won't lie about it if asked but I don't volunteer and I avoid discussing generally, ignorance becomes intolerable when I am in a wretched state.
If I stop the cannabis medication it takes about a day for the spasms in my arm and back to start, and by day two the muscle starts to burn. My arm will turn numb in about a week and it will feel just like I smacked my funny bone perpetually. I discussed pain management options with my doctor and there are not any traditional therapies available for my type of trauma. For five years I lived and worked in utter disgusting pain that I only treated with cannabis medicine. It literally has saved my life.
It is a sad reality that I and many others face. It is hard not to be bitter watching people who sold you, stroked you up as their "new" guy. Then look down their nose at you for choices that have nothing to do with performance or competence.
The bullshit odor is strong with this one.
He can't stop smoking dope long enough to get in the door for one of those six figure salaries? Delusional comes to mind.

From what I understand Pot like Tobacco stays in the body for weeks. Cocaine perhaps 3 days. Not the effects just the tell tail foot prints that it was there.
Ever work with someone stoned or drunk?
Very weird and scary, worse accident I ever saw was a fork truck driver who every day at lunch ate his meal in his car and smoked a joint. One day he with a buzz on delivered a full pallet and forgot to put his forks down, he rounded a corner and hit a worker in the leg darn near ripping the leg off. Insurance and company policy said that for any injury one must have a drug test.
Zinger here is that the person that caused the accident did not. No breathalyser or blood test for the person at fault. Sort of like having some crazy at work belts you in the chops for no reason, both of you are fired for fighting even if you did nothing to defend yourself. This is mind bending. Once in a while some public schools will suspend both kids for fighting even when one of the kids did not do anything but run after being hit.
Drugs, even OTC cough medicine can really indanger everyone, Any one remember the horrid incident on the Nimitz in 1980 ???

No wonder Windows sucks.

Well duh. There's lots of reasons to not employ pot smokers, DUmmies. The insurance, WC, and safety reasons laid out above are some. Even in a nice, benign, safe office job you'll end up with slackers with their heads on the desk, snoozing away. Mistakes galore when they are awake. Sleeping in and showing up at noon. Unprofessional cracking up at the dumbest thing. It's pretty obvious.
Why can't DUmmies see the obvious? They're like "Drat! Foiled again! Those meddlesome kids!"
(P.S. DUmmies. What would a beloved government agency like OSHA have to say about this?)
-
Nothing says airline safety like potheads building 767's. ::)
-
I just received this yesterday.
It all makes sense now. Gay marriage and marijuana being legalized on the same day.
Leviticus 20:13---"if a man lays with another man he should be stoned."
We've just been interpreting it wrong all these years.

I'm not an expert but hair can show the drugs in your body. That is why many of kids have that shaven or stubble look on their heads.
Main reason that pot smokers will not be a mainstream work force is the trial lawyers association.

They can get hair from other places. My last employer did hair testing I'm thin on top of my head. They took a sample from my armpit.

Most druggies are hairless all over. Probably how metrosexuals came to be.

Good point. And they develope "man boobs" too and memory loss. What, you mean I didn't always have man boobs? :rotf:
Doode, no, really, I didn't ?

Well, if anyone wanted to get any of my hair for a drug test, I'd suggest that they take it from my ears. :whistling:

17. i'm going to go out on a limb here and say that they already do have pot-using employees.
I worked at United Airlines- and i was able to pass the pre-employment drug test, by abstaining for 2 weeks prior.
once that was behind me- it was heavy-toking as usual.
Nice.

Yeah, that idiot didn't expect any of the random drug-screening that goes on . . . :loser:

If I was an employer having to lay off a bunch of people thanks to 0bamacare, I would do a random drug test then fire all the Dummies. They would not only be jobless but they won't get UE and won't be able to find another job anytime soon.

A random drug test and a sweep through the parking lot to look for bumper stickers.

12yrs at Northrop Grumman with a TS clearance the regular drug tests consisted of not only hair but a needle aspiration of fat cells from your buttocks. They did not screw around if a test showed positive, you lost your clearance immediately.

That's standard across the board. All incidents like that have to be reported to the CCF by the FSO.

Right. And if DUmmy Taverner misses a heroin fix for very long, he'll get desperately sick and could even die.
So why should employers be allowed to discriminate against heroin addicts like Taverner?

I kid you not, now that "medical" MJ is legal in Massachusetts it can be prescribed for both treatment of diarrhea and constipation. WTF. :censored:

I've Been Missing for 6 months third try at Cure
This was my last chance, I had tried twice before.
Liver biopsy in 91 was Stage two, tried but was too busy trying to save my home from foreclosure to incapacitate myself like that
Second try, in 2006 ended with no sleep, food,or drink and dry heaving for 9 days before I hit the Emergency room.
Another Liver Biopsy last summer. Doctor gave me 6-8 years to live without completing treatment
Stage Four they start digging a hole to put you i, as that is all they can do for you.
Third attempt, I told my doctor's I wanted to use pot, even though I don't live in a Med Pot state, they looked the other way.
I MADE IT! I MADE IT! I MADE IT!
never had anything worse than semi-constant mild to sometimes moderate nausea. Big difference from last time.
Baseline (before therapy) viral count was over 12 million of those little virus' in every milliliter of my blood.
2 weeks after starting treatment, viral load blood test came back " NO VIRUS FOUND and every 2 week blood test came back thew same way.
so my treatment has a strong remission so far
5 months from now, if it still comes back, NO VIRUS FOUND
I"M CURED!
PS, anyone got a 1 ton dually with a big engine and a ball hitch that would pull my 28 ft sailboat from Nashville to the California Delta (back Bay between around August 1st or I will arrive there without my home. I'm being evicted because the people who own the land I'm on worry about me wintering in an uninsulated sailboat, when I've got snug electric heat with a gas back up. Oh Well, I have little contact with them anyway and my kids arere out there
Just so you know, the Wiley50 died a few months later.

Well, actually there's no such thing as medical marijuana, and it cannot be legally used anywhere in the United States.
Its sale or possession is still a federal crime.

President Bush should have raided every single dispensary in every state that passed those laws. Federal funds should be denied to every state that passes those kinds laws.

I don't remember the proper federal aviation regulation offhand, and I'm not looking for it. But as a long time aircraft mechanic, (25+yrs) I know that no matter what the states may say random, pr-employment, post -accident drug-testing. Is a fed requirement with instant dismissal for a positive result. As well as permanent loss of license . This goes for CDL drivers as well as airplane people. So no dopers in a safety related field period.
