Had myself 2 heart attacks this morning, for real. Ambulance ride, 8 hours in ER before I released myself, but with no work and no insurance, couldn't afford to stay for the angiogram etc. But on the admitting forms under the line where it asked for the resposible party, I wrote Barak H obama. They can send the bill to him. Heck I would rather die at home anyway rather than hooked to machines gurgling in a hospital at 1000$ or more a day. If I am feeling a little better later I'll take the wife out for a good T-Bone to celebrate!

Ew, get well soon. This can't be any laughing matter. Take care of yourself.

Thank you Frank, I'm a tough old fart, but this morning really got me good. Also was very heart warming seeing my three stepchildren all there worried about me, very nice to know you are loved.

I am so sorry you are dealing with this. Take care of yourself.

Did you get enough medical information, at least, to determine if any life-style changes might reduce your risks in the future?

Unfortunately yes, I am a sufferer of cluster headaches, and they are severe. The Dr. at the ER informed me that I can no longer take the medicines that relieve the headaches, because the Triptins they all contain caused the heart problems. This is a major situation, as the headaches are absolutely brutal, and without the meds I cannot function... Bummer. But hey such is life, I'll make it.

If it's not too personal, what causes the cluster headaches?
To me, that's just a term; I can't relate it with anything, cluster headaches.

No problem, Cluster headaches are something very few get, mainly men, and very unpleasant. They are called that because they will go into remission for months to years, then you are back in a "cluster" . They are caused by the rapib expansion and contraction repeatedly of your capillaries in your brain. They are extremely intense lasting from 30 min to 6 hours, and are also known as suicide headaches. years ago they used to put sufferers in the asylums, as they thought they were nuts hiding in a corner curled up holding their head and screaming at the top of their lungs. The unusual thing is there is a 5-6 degree difference in temperature on either side of your forehead. Anyway, that’s why it is bad I can no longer take those meds...

I'm so sorry you're going through this, how frightening. Isn't there any other alternative to the cluster headache medicine?

I wish there were Karin, they are a relatively unusual malady, so the drug companies don’t see any profit in a lot of research on the problem. As it stands, the few drugs available are astronomically high 35$ to 100$+ a dose, and when you get 2-3 aa day it gets a little pricey.

Sorry to hear about those headaches. I used to get migraines pretty regularly. They put me on a medication called Topomax. It worked wonders. It is now available as a generic. Have you ever tried that? As a plus...I lost 15 pounds while on the medication.
