Progressive Stations dropping like flies...How About DU Radio??
I worked in talk radio for eight years and then I worked for Arbitron (the radio ratings and research company) for ten years. One thing I know...is the radio industry.
The radio industry has morphed into mostly corporations (some large like Clear Channel and CBS Radio and some smaller like Midwest Communications or Next Media.) Nonetheless, corporate radio means cheap product with lots and lots of commercials to try to pay their bills. Cheap programming means the listener suffers. Mediocre national syndicated programming, homogenized music stations, generic sounding stations, lack of local news and information, and lots of dead air since computers have replaced live board operators.
When radio stations started being bought out by corporations and turned into cheap sounding outlets, the birth of the internet was happening. In addition, Satellite Radio was in the works simultaneously. Third, the birth of the computer downloads/podcasts/iPods, etc. also has had a major impact on regular, terrestrial radio. As listening has been declining and more ad revenue is going to other media outlets, traditional stations are even more cutting back on programming thus alienating listeners even more.
So what do people do when they are fed up with over-the-air radio? They find better sources of content. I found satellite radio (XM/Sirius.) I can listen to all the baseball games in the world, my favorite music channel 70 Bluesville (No radio station in the US plays all Blues,) MSNBC on channel 117, other left leaning programs like Alex Bennet, Randi Rhodes, etc. Occasionally listen to Howard Stern, Mad Dog Russo on sports and other programs.
OK...after all of this is said...there still is a hole for one stop shopping 24 hours of progressive talk radio. Why not start an internet only DU radio station. It would be subscription based (small amount) with limited commercials. There would already be a sizable audience as DU has a very large base of users. Just a thought...but it seems like a way to expand.

6. That's not true
Most Progressive stations had more listeners than national syndicated sports programming like Fox Sports and ESPN. I used to work in the ratings biz. Clear Channel doesn't want Progressive programming on the air. Period.
Oh please if progressive radio brought out so many listeners then they would run it.

3. I think left wing radio just doesn't work that well.
There are a few people who are ok at it. But in general liberals tend to be more well read. If we hear something we make sure it checks out. Liberals will check 3 or 4 different sources before coming to a conclusion.
Right wing radio works because conservatives want to be spoon fed their opinions. Conservatives for the most part are simple and like to be talked at because they can't hold a discussion or put together a solid argument defending their positions.
:rotf: :rotf:
All one has to do is post a rumor at DU and if it is bad for the repukes it becomes gospel truth in minutes, even if proven false then it becomes fake but accurate. Even if you truly do check it out on other sources DU, Daily KOS, and huffington and puffington post does not count as research.

As long as Mother Jones,Truthout and Alternet say it is so then it is gospel.

Wow. I guess those DUmbass Dummies are not as well-informed as they have duped themselves to believe. More and more is coming to the surface everyday that this last Tuesday's result was the product of massive (MASSIVE) voting fraud.
No one really wants what the DUmmies are selling. It's all based on fraud and deceit.

I know I can't think for myself until I have my first bowl of Rush in the morning. :rotf:

Dear Mr. Romney,

I've been poor. I've been homeless. I have gone too many years without proper medical care. I will die early because of that. I have never received Government assistance. I couldn't afford the constant cab rides to try and qualify for it and my pride stopped me from asking for it because I felt others needed help more than I.
I took financial risks that didn't work out. I believed in the American dream. Unfortunately, My father didn't own a car company or was a governor of a state. He was just a working Joe and that means I got drafted. I really think spending those years in romantic France would have been a much nicer experience than wading through rice paddies waiting to get downed by a sniper.
I have worked for a lot of very wealthy people in my life. Most of them, not all, were complete assholes in the fact that money and power were their only goals. They could care less about any hardship or problem their employees that had and invested their time and energies into helping them acquire more money and power. They only wanted more and people like me were just a renewable commodity. That is a shame because they missed out on getting to know some wonderful people.
I now have scars on my wrist from where I once decided I was unworthy of sharing this country and even air with the likes of you and others like you. I was just as smart and just as driven but felt that there must be some major flaw in me because I couldn't reach the heights that people such as yourself have. Those scars got there halfway through a thirty day sentence for public drunkenness when I broke the Bic shaver apart and ended up not only slashing my wrist but carried through to my leg as well. The sad thing about this is that this got me released before I was even released from the hospital for purely economic concerns. I was released from the hospital with only a set of scrubs.
A set of scrubs. The ER's function had been met and I was a success in that I didn't die in ER. This is the health system you herald in that people who need medical care can always get it. Bullshit. I nearly died in the days following that experience. I got a job as a day laborer landscaping with the healing wounds in which the bandages would quickly fill with dirt and fertilizer and infected the wounds. Obviously, I lived.
I'm no paragon. I have made many mistakes. But Mr. Romney, you have no idea of what it is like to struggle, to survive or to prosper for those of us who have not been handed mountains of money in which to follow our dreams.
So with all sincerity,
**** you, Mitt
Yes, it would be spectacular for all America to hear. So well read and psycho. :lmao:

This is the biggest crock of crap I have ever heard from them. Liberals don't fact check anything. They report something and then twist it to meet their agenda. Some just spread rumors; ie, Lawrence O'donnel. And some just flat out lie; Ie, Wasserman Shultz. Liberals are the biggest liars on the planet. All they know how to do is lie. They have no idea what fact check means.
I do believe that they check multiple sources, those sources are the NYT, the White House, and MSNBC. All one sided liberals shills with no truth to anything they say.
