Well, his daughter was... :whatever:
Mortos (2,084 posts) Fri Nov 9, 2012, 08:43 PM
I have spent a lot of time during the last two days talking to my daughter about what happened and what she thinks should be done to resolve it. She is very bright and contemplative. She asked me not to go to the school and raise hell until she tried to talk to the girls involved. She did and made a little bit of progress with them. She communicated to one girl, who has been a friend up until that point, that she didn't like being smacked and the girl half ass apologized. My daughter is not exhibiting signs of fear about going to school or trying to get out of going and every day I greet her arrival from the bus we talk about what happened and how she is feeling. She has friends at the school and there are other kids who are either different races, sexual orientation, political affiliation or religions who deal with many of the same issues she has.
I am going to have lunch with her Monday and sit at a table with at least one of the children involved...and we are going to have a discussion about accepting people's differences and how very inappropriate it is to use physical violence against anyone, especially a friend. I am going to look directly into the eyes of the child that hit mine while I am saying this without yelling, threatening or directly implicating her. I am also going to wear my Obama t-shirt and talk about how proud I am of our president.
My daughter wants me to help her start an anti-bullying club. I am going to talk to the administration about how we go about doing that. We talked about the goals of the club and how we could get people involved. I am very proud of my daughter and her resolve to make something positive out of something negative.
I am not going to call the police, the secret service, my right wing red neck southern baptist congressman or sue the school or teacher over the misguided actions and brazen schoolyard talk of 11 and 12 year old kids. I am going to attempt to teach my daughter a valuable lesson about overcoming adversity and sticking to principles especially when it gets difficult and other people don't agree with you and even when they attack you. Hopefully, together, we will teach the same thing to some of the kids at her school and start a movement that will help to protect other kids from similar harassment now and in the future.
Thanks DU for you passion and advice. I read all the comments and considered many of the things you guys suggested.

Forstly, this primitive using kids to give itself DUmp cred is pathetic. Secondly, zero bongs. Third, what you said abouve DOES indeed kind of sound like you're going to be threatening. Why does this other little girl give two shits about how proud your ugly ass is of 'Bama?!
That first thread? Full of absolute liberal, bleeding heart bullshit used to keep the hooks in the other DUmp occupants mouths. You did well, I'll give you that. The ONLY part of your two whoppers is that you made two parts to keep the DUmmies lapping up your lies. Do you even actually have a daughter? I'm skeptical.
Lastly: You're going to sit down with two 11-12 year old little girls in a public place, man? Really? People will talk...

Need help talking to my brother "Mortos" about new job
Well this one is difficult. My brother, Steven, (A.K.A. Mortos) is one of the greatest guys I know. I am a contractor in Oklahoma and about a year and a half ago Steven came to work for me. I had always been a disillusioned Republican. As we worked together day after day he would lovingly ask me questions about my beliefs and over time allowed me to see that not only was I not a republican, but probably more liberal in my beliefs than most. He would talk to me about the POTUS and his admin. and point out many ways that the man I voted for in 2000 was misleading our country. He helped me see. He would talk about BIG corps and how corrupt they were and how they are only out to screw the little guy. We would talk about the war and how screwed up it was from the beginning. He would call radio talking heads daily and rake them over the coals about the truth of this war and this pResident. If you are reading this and KNOW Mortos from any of his post on this site you know what I'm talking about.
Now we come to where I need help today. My brother, The Conservative Fighter, Mortos, "My name is Steven Vincent", is taking a job with KBR in Iraq to build military facilities. I have talked with him and the money is GOOD. better than he can make here working for me. Especially since my work has been slow for the past month (and for this I feel somewhat responsible for his decision).
Now the question. How do I talk to him? What can I say that is loving and supporting but still allows him to see what he is doing for what it is?
Please help me. I am open to any suggestions that allow him to make his own decision and support him in that but also see what he is doing.
This is Mortos other brother. :lmao:

My brother in the path of Rita-still helping victims of Katrina speaks out
Edited on Wed Sep-21-05 10:28 PM by Mortos
Just got off the phone with my brother who is a medical supervisor at a hospital in the southern coastal area of Louisiana. He sounded tired and told me he has been getting an average of 2 -3 hours of sleep since August 28 (the day Katrina hit).
He just evacuated his entire hospital in preparation for Rita and is standing by awaiting final evacuation orders to shut down the only hospital in a 50 mile radius of where he lives.
This is literally the first time I have spoken to him since Katrina. He told me several stories about what has happened and is happening there now.
A little background on my brother. He was part of a task force that worked with the state OEP (Office of Emergency Preparedness) to develop emergency plans for terrorist attacks and natural disasters. He adamantly stands by the plans that were made saying what that team developed was a good system to handle these types of disasters.
I asked him where they system failed. He said that from the city level on up to the federal level was supposed to rely on each other to help but as soon as the actual disaster hit, there was an every man or organization for itself mentality that immediately took over.
FEMA took over the relief operations on day 3 and he was relieved when it happened. He thought that help would be forthcoming. His hospital received 43 evacuees from New Orleans and immediately began tending to their needs. The evacuees, were predominantly elderly but not all poor. He said there were many professionals in the group.
He asked one elderly lady why she didn't leave and she told him she had been using public transportation for 50 years, she had never owned a car, and the television news said busses would be available to transport people who needed it, out of New Orleans. She packed and waited but no bus ever came.
As they used their medicinal supplies to treat these additional patients, representatives of FEMA came to his hospital and went through the procedures to provide them with more supplies and equipment. As they left they assured him, help was on the way. Nothing came. A few days later the scene was repeated with different reps from FEMA and again he was told help was coming. Nothing came. He said they have been visited ten times by FEMA officials and as of today, 20 days later, not one piece of equipment, medical supply, food item or money has filtered down to their hospital.
He got a call today from a yet another FEMA official and told him they would be sending supplies. He told them to send them to another hospital because he had evacuated the patients out of the path of Rita.
Red Cross visited his hospital 3 times and assured him they where on the case. Red Cross performed better than FEMA, they sent 43 $20 vouchers for clothes at a Goodwill store, I kid you not, in New Orleans. Only good at that location, only valid for three weeks. My brother is saving one of those as a memento.
He told me of the call for aluminum flat hull boats immediately after the levees in New Orleans broke and 500 civilians responding to the call only to be turned away by FEMA, A group of doctors and nurses showing up in his city with a tractor trailer full of medical supplies and food ready to relieve the overworked professionals treating the evacuees were unceremoniously turned away by the Red Cross and told they did not accept any contributions except money and authorized corporate donations. They were not needed said the Red Cross as my brother and his staff worked up to 50 hours straight until they nearly collapsed from exhaustion.
There are many more stories to tell, he said and when he had more time he would "write a book".
Do you have faith the government will be able to handle a major terrorist attack or another natural disaster I asked him. He paused a moment and simply said, "No".
I think Mortos is :mental:

Your daughter isn't feeling any resolution of the bullying issue because "conflict resolution" doesn't work any better in school than it does in global politics.
Bullies only leave you alone when you punch them in the nose.
Trying to reason with them gets you Benghazi.

My name is Steven Joseph Vincent
and I refuse to be afraid to speak my mind in my own country.
I served my country in the military for 5 years. I wore the uniform. I was willing to sacrifice my life for the ideals this country was founded on. I will not be cowed by the bullies who run this country or the partisan cowards who support them.
As I write this, tears stream down my cheeks. Tears for the men and women who are dying in our name. Tears for poor and hard working Americans who may never get out of poverty. Tears for the hateful racist, mysogynistic, homophobic nation we appear to be. Tears for my daughter and the children of this country. Tears of anger.
Take my name. Write it down. Do with it what you will you ****ing freepers and government agents.
I will not hide behind an alias. I will not be ashamed of my party affilliation or my political beliefs. I will not quietly stand by as my country is diminished.
I AM NOT AFRAID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
And neither should my 55 million compatriots who proudly stood up and said, "Enough."
This is my country and I will fight for her.
I will fight goddammit.
HE IS NOT AFRAID !!!!! :lmao:

She better clear this experiment through administration. I can see this ending very badly.

I Was Slapped......apparently not hard enough.

That story was difficult to read. How about starting at the beginning and not the middle next time?

Let me get this straight: You're going to go to the school on Monday to have lunch w/ your daughter, purposely seek out the child that smacked her and sit down across from her, and have a discussion about inappropriate behavior while staring her down yet in a way that doesn't threaten or directly implicate her.
OK, the actions you plan on taking are the exact opposite of what you claim you want your message to be. But recognizing that would require thought, and on Skin's island that just isn't going to happen.
This will not go over well.

Yeah, there are a bunch of 5th and 6th grade kids who have already come out of the closet. :whatever:
Secondly, what the hell does being proud of your president have to do with this story?!
KC

Sounds kinda like his daughter made a pass at another girl and got slapped for it, with all that 'Diversity' and 'Different orientations' crap ladled into the story.
:whistling:

Well, this whole episode is of course made up from the word go.
The DUmpmonkey has a blossoming lesbo as a daughter and feels compelled to make up a story about her.
If the DUmpmonkey's lunch plan were true and carried out, he'd end up in jail.
-
OH look at that, a dummy ***** who won't confront the parents and is going to confront the child instead. Does she really think the parents and maybe even the teachers are not going to be knocking on her door after her little temper tantrum to an 11 year old? This should be a fun one to watch. :-)
-
She better clear this experiment through administration. I can see this ending very badly.
I should read further. That was exactly my thought.
-
The DUmmies, by and large, like to stay within their echo chamber. If this DUmmie does have a sit down with two 12 year olds, it would be a rare case of a DUmmie voluntarily having an actual discussion with not one, but two people that are much more mature and intelligent. If it was true, it could be entertaining.
-
I'm trying to understand why he would even call secret service over a schoolyard bitch slap. He said he wasn't going to call secret service... ???
-
Did he say why his daughter was slapped? Geeze, my daughter would have slapped her back and probably never even told me about it.
No wonder this country is so screwed up.

My daughter was hit at school for saying she was happy President Obama won.

This is what happens when you teach your children to hate. My daughter was hit by two girls at school yesterday for saying she was happy that President Obama won re-election. She was verbally put down repeatedly and told he (Obama) was a communist and a Muslim and was destroying America. Several kids told her he should be assassinated and that they would be happy to do it. She had a teacher talking down to another student who said something nice about the president in front of the entire class. This type of behavior is ****ing ridiculous an cruel and I have had enough of it.
My daughter is 12 years old.
My daughter is a sweet natured, gentle compassionate kid who has never intentionally hurt anyone but because she loves her gay friends and relatives and wants them to have equal rights she has been called a lesbian, because she supports the lawfully democratically elected president she is called an America hater and slapped in the face. Because she is not a christian she has been told she is going to hell and is not worthy of friendship. What is wrong with people?

Yeppers, this is typical. Win an election big and you still have shit to complain about it, this time by throwing your kid under the bus.
A typical story that hits all the fine points: little cute 12 year old tyke, Bush-twin-esque enemy kids, and all the cliches. I'm first going to go out on a limb and say that this is bs.
1. She's 12. How the hell does she know her friends are gay or not? And how many gay friends and relatives does she have?
2. It sounds like most of the class is like the Bush twins. Why is her daughter in this raging, red-state right wing nazi encampment school? One would think a parent would kinda look around to make sure there are no Ku Klux Klan hours or Ronald Reagan worship services before enrolling her sweet little progressive into that inferno.
3. Last time I heard, Christianity is banned in schools. How can one get slapped for not being one?
<<sigh>> too much time on my hands tonight
-
I hope this escalates to a full fledged shitstorm and some kid was smart enough to video the initial confrontation. I assure you that snot-nosed spawn of Mortos was taunting, tormenting, and in the face of that other kid, and actually deserved the bitchslap.

Agree with Sybil. While my kids are in a conservative area when they redistributed a bunch of apartments(read section 8) homes to my sons school my son has a school with one foot in what passes for a ghetto here and one foot out. Guess what he has had to contend with when all those lover of all races black kids found out his family was pro Romney? The woman whose daughter i watch( for not much longer) tried to kick down a romney sign)shes 11 and her mother filled their head with the idea Romney hates women. Raising kids with hate indeed...and yes she has been corrected by me with a dose of reality no less. I've seen the utter shitty poor sport spirit of kids if leftist idiots. Trust me she probably earned that slap

That sure would be the tack I would take...if this had ever happened. Far closer to the truth is to exchange the characters.

Sounds fishy.

Well if this is some right wing school, (hopefully a redneck one) I've got my fingers crossed he does sit down and have that little talk with the other girls, and their dads find out about it..... :yahoo:
